Sox @ DET, 6-12, 12:05 CT, CSN
QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jun 12, 2008 -> 03:42 PM) hope for a quick exit in the 1st round? because that's what i see when watching this hot/cold offense. Maybe, but we do have some really good pitching, so anything can happen when you have that. Still, we haven't seen Danks or Floyd go the long haul yet, Contreras is very old and Javvy hasn't looked so great lately. I still don't think our starting rotation is a LOCK to get there, at least not as much of a lock as Boston or LAA. That said, so far our pitching staff is as good as anyone in baseball, so we have to assume they'll continue to be good.

8 games is nothing, especially when you're chasing a laborious offense like the Sox. Our offense is not sustainable. Only saving grace is I don't think Detroit has the pitching to really get there and the Indians offense is actually WORSE than ours. the division sucks, which gives me hope.

Quentin's average has tumbled down. I didn't think he was in that much of a slump. Amazing the perception of players when the team is winning.

6/8 - Sox vs. MIN, 1:05 CT, CSN
Even if they get this one in today, it looks like it's going to be a long day...weather for the Chicago area looks horrible all day and into the night.

IT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!
Great win, game thread sucked...my comments about obscure Heavy Metal bands from Germany and Norse Gods simply did not register with the Thursday night shift. We'll try it again this weekend.

QUOTE (tommy @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 09:27 PM) Minny lost to Orioles today 2-3. Texas up over Cleveland. 6-4 bottom of the 7th. Yep...we'd be 2.5 up on the Twinkies leaving our magic number at 101

QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 09:01 PM) Does that mean he will continue to be good in the future? Well there is that time-space contium to deal with. Jose cound potentially -as an 80 year old- see himself pitching at 47 and we'd have a paradox. /end cheesy back to future reference, not to mention reference to 80s metal band (Paradox) that no one has ever heard of.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 08:48 PM) Luckily we have zero middle infielders as good of a player as A-rod. So he only has to be better than another Alexei, and probably Richar, which is most definitely doable. Indeed doable, but not guaranteed.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 09:45 PM) If he dominates high A this season and rakes in AA the beginning of next year, theres no reason he wont be up. As much as we hope Alexei and Richar will be studs, Beckham should be better than both. Beckham projects as a very nice, solid MLB player who should have a solid career, but he is not the 2nd coming of A-Rod, not in this life time or any other. I LIKE the pick a lot, but lets let the kid face minor league pitching before annointing him anyone's replacement who is currently on the MLB roster.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 06:22 PM) Lenny's kid. The other Dykstra that went earlier is not related. I can't believe Lenny named his son Cutter. Lenny used to hang with Frank Zappa and Eddie Van Halen, who named their sons Dweezil and Wolfgang. Cutter played bass with those guys.

You do see it coming right? Sox trash Greinke last night and will follow it up by getting shutdown by this scrub pitcher. They already have that look.

White Sox sign Esteban Loaiza/Option Wassermann
This season has been weird from the beginning, I dont expect anything less. We have trouble hitting and running, so we get a washed up pitcher? It's all good...i fully expect to see the White Sox in the World Series with Jim thome playing shortstop.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 09:58 PM) When has Gavin had the opportunity to learn how to pitch with a decent lead? Never. Then again, that wasnt my point. The thing I noticed in Cleveland and this game is he is rolling, totally in control then 2 or 3 batters hit rockets...then just like a switch Floyd shuts it off. What I've noticed (and it's not the end of the world) with a couple Gavin outings (specifically the last two) has nothing to do with whether or not he has a large lead.

6/3 - Sox vs. KC, 7:11 CT, WCIU
Wow...way to come back Floyd....reminds me of the Cleveland game...Floyd is rolling then he gives up a couple rockets, then settles down. Does he have a problem with concentration? Seems like he lets up a bit here and there. Still a good night for Gav.

Orioles lead the Twinkies 4-1...would be nice to get back to 1.5 up
