Sorry Rex, The only thing I disagree with is that the Sox are not making money. I think they are, but it is certainly hard for me or anyone else to prove that other than what I heard einhorn say. I truly believe when its all said and done each year they make cash for there shareholders, and I think that is great.

I will add this I feel the Sox will indeed increase payroll if the players are right. I will go on a limb and say they will be between 75-80 million when the winter is over. I have no data to prove this. Lets wait and see. ™

Jim, While I agree with much of what you say, I don't beleive JR goes to the board on what players to keep and not keep. I also believe that JR is in charge of the team. The rest are silent investors who may get a quarterly update on financials and announcements. They entrust there investment to JR and Einhorn. It is up to them to run the team as they see fit and report back like management reports back to a Board of directors. Now that stated, anytime JR wants out, he can simply go to the board and recommend that he be replaced or recommend that they sell the team. This is where I might take exception with REX. You see I don't think any of these guys want to sell, because they don't lose money on this investment. They run the team not to lose money. Why as an investor would I sell if I am not losing money and some years I make money. Eddie einhorn stated on the radio last year (spring training I beleive) that the sox were one of 7 teams who made money in 2003. These guys have a good investment and that is why they are in this. I am certain they do not need to be fans.

Ok, i thought I would see this thread but it appears nobody added yet. Talkin baseball is on right now on am 1000. A couple of notes I have taken so far: Per Bruce Levine: 1) Ross Gload is not an everyday First baseman. Sox will look for one if konerko gets traded. Gload is a nice part time player. I completley agree and have said that many times on this board. Good to see that others feel the same way. 2) Sox will not get Randy johnson, he will want another year and possibly two at 16 million per. Sox won't do that. 3) Good decision not to give Vizquel the third year.

Ok don't want to make this a big deal. I too agree on leiber, but my point was if the money is near I would stay in the states for the reasons I wrote. I don't think the sox will make a big slash anyway. Why get the fans hope up! Should be a nice volitile Sox fest again this year. I wonder how those season ticket renewels are coming along.

While I do not doubt you, I would never sign a contract based on a pitching coach. these guys get fired all the time. Unless i can write the guys name in the contract I just wouldn't base the next 3-5 years on some coach. Just my opinion. I realize players do things for different reasons. Garcia wanted to play for OZzie but if the money wasn't there he would not have played for him. No biggie, just offering another perspective.

I am just trying to put myself in clements place. Toronto or the whitesox. Hmm I get 75 cents to the dollar if I choose Canada, I would need to move and will play in arguably a division that cannot be won. At best I am in 4th place. Or I can stay in chicago, Make 8 million, be a solid number 3 on a team that could win the division if they get a few more players. if it was me I would love to pitch in the easiest division located in the midwest and make good coin.

Jim, they called cause they are frustrated. they spoke there feeelings which I beleive were the truth. I think they represented what many of us feel.

ahh MR. Appeasement. He spoke the truth, said Sox are not goign anywhere. Why pick up Randy Johnson. Joshnson needs to go to a team that is a player away. I completely agree. We are nothign but a 500 team.
