  1. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 10:00 PM) Ban my ass, I don't care. I'm tired of people defending things that aren't even close to being controversial. Dude, relax! Take a deep breath. This ain't about you. Enjoy your forum, everyone is passionate about their opinions. I got banned from the other Sox forum for taking the moderator's insults too personal. I guess since he ran the forum, he felt he could demean anyone he disagreed with. Now I just play along like a good little soldier, since I enjoy sharing my pain and angst with the rest of you. That other forum was a joke anyway. This one's pretty good, so don't f*** up and get banned.
  2. This one really stings. If we don't put it behind us it will cripple this team....guarangoddamnphawkin'teed!
  3. I'm usually supportive of Ozzie, but I have to admit that the bullpen moves he made had to be because of instinct or gut feeling or some other crap, 'cause they made no sense at all. Honestly, I cannot remember the last time Cotts got a left hander out. He needs to go work out his kinks at AAA, cause he is hurting this team badly. The Riske thing was baseball, it happens. But had Cotts done the job, the homerun never would have happened. I think it's time for KW to step in and ask Ozzie some hard questions, like why he is not developing BMac. If he is to be inserted in the starting rotation next year, he needs to get his opportunities this year, no? The bullpen blew this game, but Ozzie put them in there. This one is on him.
  4. QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 09:39 PM) I wish the season were over today so I could quit wasting my f***ing time on this f***ing team. This is the smartest quote I've read in this forum so far. If I could get myself to stop watching I would. I just downed my last bit of Pepto-Bismol.
  5. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 09:37 PM) Twins are a better team. It's a shame. We let too many opportunities slip away. I guess no one should second-guess Ozzie for leaving his starters in too long from here on out. That bullpen can't get anybody out.
  6. It's like Ozzie keeps "hoping" for Cotts to finally break out of his funk. Great timing. I hate it when I'm right. When they swept us last month, every victory was a come from behind due to bullpen meltdowns. Deja Vu!
  7. If Cotts gives up anything, I will pass my own kidneys.
  8. That's right, baby. You shouldda done that a month ago, you Twerp!
  9. Like clockwork, baby. "Half-game" Vasquez living up to his reputation
  10. He keeps this up, he'll take over the batting lead. Where's he at .328?
  11. Podsednik SUCKS! He coudda caught that ball
  12. Time to put the reliever to warm up. It's almost time for "Half-game" Vasquez's classic meltdowns.
  13. Not to scare everyone, but when the Twins swept us last month they trailed in every single game, all come-from -behind wins. I hope we hold 'em this time.
  14. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 07:28 PM) Nice to see Javy isn't throwing as many meatballs tonite. just wait till runners get on base.......I guarangoddamnphawkin'tee it he'll put out a few cookies for the pirahnas to chew on.
  15. QUOTE(greg775 @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 07:15 PM) Nice to have a base coach ruin the momentum of an ass kicking start. If we lose ... it's all on Joey. I will be the first to admit that Cora should be replaced next year, but I wouldda sent the runner. It took an absolutely perfect throw to get him out and it was still close.
  16. Teams are figuring out that a single is just as good as a two bagger with Sox pitching combined with AJ's weak-ass arm.
  17. I swear, this guy cannot pitch from the stretch. He's a totally different guy with men on base.
  18. Again, it was a gamble, but it wasn't a bad play.
  19. I woudda sent him too. It was a perfect throw, otherwise we woudda scored. Pods was next anyway.
  20. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 01:15 PM) regardless of the outcome of this division, the Tigers are not a better team than the White Sox. Perhaps they did a better job of beating the Twins and Royals. Whatever. But head to head, they pale by comparison. Go ahead and win the division; you ain't going anywhere after that. Wrong, wrong, wrong. the stats show it. The win and loss column show it. Good pitching is the essence of a solid baseball team. Or did you forget last year? The Tigers ARE the better team, plain and simple. Now, have the Sox underachieved? Absofreakin'lutely. But the proof is in the puddin'. It is what it is. Having said that, I want to wipe the floor with those guys in the ALCS, if the Sox get that far.
  21. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 01:21 PM) Haha, you're assuming that Garland gets 7 more starts the rest of the way which would basically be the most he's going to get and in those 7 starts he has to go all 9 in every one of them while allowing an average of 2 ERs per game, how is that realistic at all? Math time: Currently: 25 GS, 165 IP, 82 ER Scenerio 1: 7 GS, 49 IP, 14 ER (AVG: 7 IP, 2 ER) Scenerio 2: 7 GS, 56 IP, 14 ER (AVG: 8 IP, 2 ER) Scenerio 3: 7 GS, 63 IP, 14 ER (AVG: 9 IP, 2 ER) (This is what you're assuming) Scenerio 4: 7 GS, 49 IP, 21 ER (AVG: 7 IP, 3 ER) Scenerio 5: 7 GS, 63 IP, 0 ER (AVG: 9 IP, 0 ER) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SC1: 32 GS, 214 IP, 96 ER: 4.04 ERA (Most Likely Scenerio IMO) SC2: 32 GS, 221 IP, 96 ER: 3.91 ERA SC3: 32 GS, 228 IP, 96 ER: 3.79 ERA (Your Scenerio) SC4: 32 GS, 214 IP, 103 ER: 4.33 ERA SC5: 32 GS, 228 IP, 82 ER: 3.24 ERA (The Perfect Scenerio) Even if he pitches complete game shutouts the rest of the way, his ERA still will not be low enough to garner any sort of Cy Young consideration. Also, I do not consider a guy who was absolutely terrible for his first 12 starts of the season a legit Cy Young candidate anyway. You did a lot of leg work on this one. Looks good to me. Complete games from here on out is absurd, but 2 to 2.5 runs seems doable.
  22. I can't even begin to think what this board's gonna read like if "Half-game" Vasquez has his usual mid-game meltdown. We've been pretty easy on this guy. I guarangoddamnphawkin'tee you that if he were in NY they would have booed him so mercilessly, he woudda been long gone by now.
  23. QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 03:28 PM) You know, Ive been "upset" with Thome since mid May, and made comments about Thome being dropped in the lineup to some friends at a recent tailgate, and was lambasted big time. We looked like a COMPLETE lineup without Thome yesterday. That said, in April, when Thome was refusing to swing at bad pitches and taking his walks, AND GOING THE OTHER WAY with the pitch, the man was a ONE MAN WRECKING CREW. I'll take the April 06 Thome in this lineup in a heart-beat batting 3rd, otherwise drop him in the lineup!! Ive said it before, Im going to keep saying it. Scotty Pods needs GLASSES. I dont think he can see. Watch, next year when hes in the NL and enjoying a "renaissance", it will be because he has contacts. Indeed, Thome almost single-handedly led the Sox to victories early in the season. However, When he slumps, so does the rest of the offense. But it's not so much that. Thome batting 3rd has provided an eye-opening revelation about the Sox's futility against top-tier left handers. It is his futility, coupled with Podsednik and Gooch having a tough time as well that's the tell tale. The top three guys are going to have the most opportunities to bat, so those are extra outs that are being given away. Moving Dye to 3rd should give the offense some protection against lefties at the top of the order. I contend that Paulie may be the bigger beneficiary since Dye will put the ball in play more often than Thome, so Paulie's chances of having RISP will be greater, presumably. If Dye goes on a tare, he will collect most of the RBI's. If he plays his normal game the rest of the year then Paulie will likely have more opportunities.
