  1. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 06:22 PM) Vazquez pitching in the postseason will be a guaranteed loss. Forget how bad he pitches now when he has a meltdown. What he does in the postseason will dwarf that. I might have to change his name from "Half-game" Vasquez to "Inning and a third" Vasquez. Pretty much as soon as there is a runner at a base, it's over. To be candid, if I were to make the post-season rotation it would be a three-man rotation, Jose, Jon, and Garcia. I would put Buerhle in the bullpen and send "Half-game" to the Puertorican National Team, I would have him nowhere near the Sox pitching mound.
  2. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 08:00 AM) It's not just that it's Santana... It's that it's Santana at home (where he's 5-0 with a 0.73 ERA in his last 5 starts) against Javier Vazquez Sorry guys, but today...we gone I hope I'm wrong Unfortunately, you are not wrong. Though this would be a good game for Ozzie to gauge "Half-game" Vasquez's big game performance. I'll wager that "Half-game" is gone before the fifth, and call it a moral victory if we get more than 3 runs. My only consolation is that Detroit gets their butts handed to them as well.
  3. QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 10:27 AM) JGINAA. Really! I guess "Half-game" Vasquez and Freddy "Dubbie" Garcia will be sent to little league, then.
  4. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 10:11 AM) I thought Garland's two-seam fastball running back over the outside corner to righties yesterday was awesome, just pinpoint. He pitches to contact so you know he'll have a few bad games from here to the end but he's been very impressive lately, no question about it. I think he has certianly surpassed Garcia and Vazquez in the order of guys you have confidence in heading towards the big games of September and October He definitely is a contact pitcher and won't get very many strikeouts. Having said that, he WILL have a couple of outings where he's gonna get lit up. However, I was impressed on how he kept the hitters off balance all night, working in and out. Garland is right now the #2 pitcher in the rotation. He has the mental toughness to ignore a bad pitch sequence and start right again. The same cannot be said about "Half-game" Vasquez, or Garcia. They get in a jam and the flood gates burst!
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 11:54 PM) HE'S A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PITCHER!!!!!! When Hawk Harrelson starts criticizing a White Sox player approach, something is definitely wrong. Maybe his birth certificate is wrong and he's really close to 40 instead of 30. It's not so much his pitching as his frame of mind. He is to be blameless, shifting to the offense for his woes. This is a REAL bad sign, and KW can't put up with it. Garcia needs to GO ASAP. Even if what he says is true about lack of run support (which it isn't), he's only alienating the other players with comments like that. I see an alarming rift beginning to widen in that clubhouse. This team is definitely in trouble. They have such incredible talent that they might win nevertheless, but there is DEFINITELY little, if any chemistry to channel each individual's efforts into positive results on the field.
