  1. QUOTE (Wanne @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 09:50 PM) I'm sure this should probably be moved...but looks like Bobby added some ink this winter... Not a fan of it btw... They seem to be making Red Sox shirts smaller even than last years White Sox'.
  2. As a human being, Jim's a great guy and I wish him the best. As a Twin, every one of their wins is bad for the Sox. I hope he fails completely. I was horrified when he launched that rocket off of Thornton. To be even remotely pleased with it... Well, I just don't get it.
  3. QUOTE (scenario @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 07:59 PM) Forgot him. He'll have to start throwing with his other hand. LOL.
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 02:42 PM) Keith Foulke Ah. Thank you.
  5. QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 02:38 PM) I believe the last time an Ex- White Sox closer went there, they did win the World Series for the first time in 80 some years. Good Luck Bobby (except against us)!!!! Please refresh my memory? And I do wish Bobby well when it doesn't have an effect on our Sox. Thanks for the great memories! Ozzie's call for him in the Series will live forever!
  6. Assuming he actually played all 9 innings of all 162 games, he gets $24,348.42 per inning. To play baseball. It amounts to $55,000 per day, 365 days per year for 7 years. And he's not the highest paid. I love baseball, and this is America with "free enterprise," but... Seems like priorities are misaligned.
  7. I think PK said it in his interview months ago. "Why do players give hometown discounts (paraphrase)?" He gave one last time. He wants an owner to overpay in a "hometown bonus" way. And why does he have his best 2 years in his contract years? He cashed the checks all the way through, didn't he? He's good, I have his name on my game jersey, and I do want him back, but I must say I'm a little upset.
  8. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 5, 2010 -> 01:47 PM) I'd prefer a 3B without stone hands, and more range than a parked car. I don't know... Can't have too many Flintstone-mobiles parked at the hot corner. We have two.
  9. I just somehow think PK is tired of the Ozzie-drama. I think he will come back, but he is a bit intrigued with playing in a less crazy environment. He'll look at other settings. I think it's more about this than the $$$, though $$$ obviously still matter. I want him back & am glad KW, with JR's open blessing, is openly courting PK and has openly structured AJP's & AD's contracts to for PK.
  10. Already covered, I know, but I have to list it- Wish Bobby well somewhere else, while thanking him greatly for the memories- Check. Dump Linebrink wherever will take him and at least half his salary- Check+ Bring AJ back- Check. Get some LH power- Double-check. Get TCQ a headshrink- (I think I heard.) Check. Try to unload Teahen' salary (Not as crucial as the preceding things.)- Not yet. Get Paulie back (His name is on my game jersey.)- Still hoping. Extend Ramirez' contract- Not yet. Keep Putz- Not yet, but still hoping. Happy already, with potential for more.
  11. RIP, Ron. Prayers and thoughts to family, friends, and fans.
  12. 17 games, I think, left. Time to play youth. See what they can do. Can't take Paulie out, so Viciedo can't play first much. PK deserves the right to keep his numbers climbing, but everyone else is replaceable. Flowers, with a little Castro, to catch. Morel at third? Viciedo at DH... unless we really need to see if he can play third... He really needs MLB at bats, though. No need for M. Ramirez, Jones, or Kotsay to come out of the dugout any longer. Anybody we can stick in right? Teahen? Unfortunately, he has an extended contract, so, maybe RF? Can't play 3rd. Or will TCQ now hit well with the pressure off? TCQ has a horrid average, lots of RBI's for it, though. Some homers, too, but I don't remember much but failure in the clutch. End of my stream-of-disappointed-consciousness.
  13. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Sep 14, 2010 -> 09:34 PM) Depends on what you mean by large and small. If by large you mean a new catcher, DH, 3b, Rf, bullpen arm and closer, then I'll vote large changes. You said it well. I was looking for a way to say just that.
  14. And is Danks the newer Big-game Javier Vasquez? As I asked earlier, how many big games did he not pitch well?
  15. So, with Hawk, Stone, Farmer, and, DJ all saying the same song about pitch selection and, now, in hindsight, knowing what doesn't work, will it change? AJ? Cooper? Pitchers? I really don't think Ozzie has anything to do with pitch selection.
  16. How many "big games" has JD not pitched well? I know many other things went terribly wrong, but...
  17. Horribly painful watching Twins celebrate in the dugout.
  18. QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Sep 14, 2010 -> 08:39 PM) Exactly what Reinsdorf wants to hear you say and it's exactly why there is no sense of urgency. He can live off 2005 for the next 2005 years. The fact of this is true. I'm sure he'd be happy to hear it and I'm sure he will always love 2005. We all will. The implication that he, or the players, don't care is not a consequence of that, though.
  19. The players performance, though not right now what we want, is not because they are lazy or don't care. Baseball's hard and they're playing better than most everybody. They are going to win around 90 games. They've even played well recently. Twins have just played lights out. We do have young talent. Some perspective. Hindsight is always easy. They're still my team, and I get frustrated, sure, but I love 'em.
  20. QUOTE (bobryansson @ Sep 12, 2010 -> 02:51 PM) Nice. Thank you. He did.
  21. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Sep 12, 2010 -> 02:50 PM) Imagine that the beard and mustache are actually flesh and this is Joe West. Nice. Thank you.
