  1. Oh crap, even Jason gets birthday wishes?! I guess everybody is entitled now.

    :snr :lolhitting :D

Thank you, you have done so much to lower productivity, nationwide, no internationally, for so many people. From offices in Michigan, to Texas, to schools in New York, even "down under" :lolhitting

  2. Using 4E's numbers

One of the 30% of Palistinians who just wants peace and hasn't yet developed a hatred for Isreal is driving down a highway to attending his daughter's fotball game. Unfortunatly, at the same time, a Hamas leader decides to use that same stretch of highway. Israel helicopters launch missles into the Hamas leaders car, delighting 4E and Nuke who jump up, cheer, yell, toast, and delight in the bastard dying. But the person in the other car is just as dead. He is "collateral damage". A nice way of saying his life wasn't worth living, if a Hamas leader could be killed.

Two days later, his widow and two children are trying to make sense of it, why someone who wanted peace, who never voted for these Hamas, has been taken away. They plan a quiet funeral for just their family and curse the Hamas and the Israeli missle that killed him.

Hamas sees this a perfect time to recruit new mercenaries. Hamas learns when and where the funeral shall be and send over fanatics to wave AK-47s in the air and shout death to the people who did this to you!

Now, 4E believes the "collateral damage's" children must be killed at their father's funeral. They are powerless against Hamas. They have even less than Hamas. They have no guns to chase Hamas away. But 4E is in charge, and he orders an attack on the funeral. So the helicopters roll in and the grieving children are killed also.

And 4E and Nuke cheer and toast each others. They shout we killed the bastards at their own funeral! Nuke explains how "collateral damage" is ok and 4E explains the children probably weren't innocent anyways. Maybe make a few jokes. 4E can feel like a real man, safe in his home in Chicago.

And then the percentage of Palistinians who think Israel is bloodthirsty goes up by a few more. And another 12 year old decides that Israel must be stopped at all costs, certainly before his mother is killed. And he kisses his mother good-bye, walks to a Hamas hideout, straps on a bomb, and climbs on a crowded bus in Israel . . .

  3. I just thought of a revenue stream. Who gets to push the button on the next troll? :D

That seems like too much fun. A couple clicks and He Gawn!

I actually appreciate a troll every once in a while. We need to invite a couple Skankee fans to post. Bu-bye!

  4. Wilbur Wood

    WILBUR WOOD

    I’m like

    throwin’ f***in’ junk

scraping the sides of the plate

    fluttering across broken winged

    accumulating insults

    & lounging in stale air

    I’m the junkballer

& from a few feet away

    I look easy to hit

    but, friend, understand

    that my s*** explodes

    BOOM!

& it sure as hell ain’t where you thought it’d be

    when you started that swing

& yr fury fans the air impotent

while my junk falls behind you, immaculate

I could be talked in Shoeless Joe. His WS stats were solid. He took the money and then played his best. You have to respect a guy from Chicago for that.

  5. I stuffed the ballot for Lugo last year. I thought it would be funny if a guy currently playing in the AL would have been voted a starter on the NL team.

Fan voting is so stupid. Hell they allowed votes from Japan last year.

AT the minimum, you should have to go to the ballpark and vote. I'd even allow monor league parks to have ballots. But being able to sit at home and just vote for your hometown guys is dumb and meaningless.

  6. That's great, Apu.

    Keep apologizing for the terrorists!

These terrorist Arab countries of yours don't resent the US so much when they need our financial support!

How is presenting a view of 'why' appologizing?

The US has killed more people around the globe than any other civilization in history. I suppose that makes us everybodies friend.

  7. Decency?? Are you kidding? You mean to tell me if someone says "kill the ump" thats indecent?? There are so many worse things a person can say because most people say it but would never do it. Wow I must be outta touch with this over sensitvity to others feelings garbage anymore.

So we only stop the most indecent thing and let everything else pass? Name something more indecent than me wishing you dead?

You are outraged because soxtalk owners drew the line at death, others would be outraged because they allowed it; which is better?

Perhaps some people cannot express themselves without using death threats. I think they can. It will just take a little practice.

  8. Of course. I'm certain we all feel safer and more secure the more people around the globe hate us because we have Homeland Security keeping us safe. Let's piss off the Chinese, Hispanics, and Jews while we're at it. f*** them, they don't have anything we need. We can always nuke them all and move to another planet.

  9. I think the political correctness is getting a little ridiculous these days.

Ahh the good old days when you could wish someone dead.

I think there should be some restraint and wishing someone killed seems like an easy enough standard.

  10. Good point! I'll bet to race fans, Indianapolis is a huge city.

If I say College Station, Chapel Hill, Ann Arbor, etc. college sports fans would instantly know what I'm talking about. Others would never have heard of most of those towns.

THe Rio Grande Area feels more "grown up" with a Pro baseball team, hocket team, and now an entry in the Arena Football League 2.

  11. That was a point I was trying to make.  Thank you.  I knew that some of those cities would "out-populate" some of the multi-team cities.  I didn't know which ones.  San Antonio is interesting in the fact that in most peoples minds, it is an afterthought coming after Houston and Dallas when thinking of Texas cities.

In other words, though those were my "perceptions", I knew they were not accurate.

The perceptions are also geographic. With Houston (4), Dallas (8), Fort Worth (27), San Antonio (9), Austin (16), and El Paso (23), it's hard to remember there are any cities outside Texas

Yet we think of cities like Vegas (32), Atlanta (41), Minneapolis (43), Miami (47), Pittsburg (?), as big.

It does take multiple teams for sports fans to think of a city as big. Just as I am certain it takes a nice opera for some opera fans to place a city "on the map" or a major museum, etc.

In other words I don't think non sport fans would have the same perception.

  12. 3. A good portion of the crowd was drinking heavily. in the first three innings, my son and I were up to let people throught the aisle for beer a minimum of 12 times. We were sitting in the middle of the aisle.
    :lolhitting

This must be a nightmare for the knowledgable Cub fans. I remember when the Bulls went through this b.s. It was a nightmare. My seats were in the last row and al of a sudden we had drunk s.o.b.s buying standing rom and spilling beer.

  13. One team cities, US,  that I can think of from the top of my head.  I'm only counting the Big 4 of baseball, football, hockey and basketball.

    Memphis (Grizzlies)

    Sacramento (Kings)

    Salt Lake City (Jazz)

    San Jose (Sharks)

    Jacksonville (Jaguars)

    San Antonio (Spurs)

    Portland (Blazers)

    Columbus (Jackets)

    Green Bay (Packers)

I don't think I'd consider any of these major cities.  That's just my perception, of course.  I may have missed some one team cities in the above list.  Some two team cities would probably also fit into the same catagory as the cities listed here. (Nashville, Indianapolis for example).

San Antonio is the ninth largest US city. That's ahead of Detroit, Boston, Cleveland, San Jose (11th) is now larger than San Francisco.

    Top 50 cities by population

Perceptions are interesting. I guess not having teams does create a different image.

  14. I found this posted on the Official Cubs board. What loosers

Sorry, this is way late. I got to the office yesterday to find I had been banned over the weekend when I hadn't even been posting.

I did read through the board yesterday, but I couldn't post so I had to sit on my thoughts.

I saw a lot of posts bashing the behavior in the bleachers so here's my take.

Someone really got fired up about the beer drenching Griffey almost took. The beer didn't even hit him, but that's beside the point. As long as I've been a Cub fan (20 years) I've been watching beer get dumped through the basket onto outfielders. From the tender age of 6, I watched this happen, so let's not act like this is something new. In my opinion, this is part of Wrigley tradition and I see nothing wrong with it. IF I were in the bleachers with my 8 year old and I had the opportunity, I'd dump a beer on an opposing outfielder without hesitation. I know I'll probably get lit up for this, but at least I'm honest. And before anyone calls me a hillbilly, redneck, less of a Cub fan etc, please know this. I'm college educated and work in education! I'm not a criminal, but I see nothing wrong with a beer dumping.

Also, in regards to the fans littering the field. I also see this as part of Wrigley tradition. Now, I don't think this should be done on every close call, or when an opposing player makes a good play to beat us. However, when the umpiring is as shotty as it was this weekend, I say toss away. As for those who say it hurts momentum? What momentum did we have at those points in the game? None. It did, however, get the team fired up and we came from behind and won!

The most glorious moment I have experienced at Wrigley was in the 1998 play-in game vs. The Giants. Gaetti hits a two run jack and the field gets littered. I'll never forget that moment and I love the tradition of littering the field at the "right moments" Bravo bleacher bums!

Finally, did anyone see the replay of the game 2 win over SD in 1984. They showed the end of the game when Trout was conducting the 7th inning stretch. It was game 2 and the cups were flying, people were getting drenched "in" the bleachers, and people were scaling the outfield chain link. That's the way we go off in the bleachers for 20 years strong and I support it 100%

If you took the time to read this, thank you. Anybody with me? Let the bashing begin!

  15. They are feeling good

Yes, the Chicago Avenue Irregulars completed a sweep of the Royals on Sunday. They've won five in a row without the 82 players they dumped this winter and the 63 who got hurt the first two days of the season, while the Royals have lost six in a row while resorting to every motivational ploy short of stealing the Twins' mascot.

The Royals? There's still plenty of time for them to prove they haven't turned themselves into the White Sox -- a muscle-bound team forever befuddled by their inability to beat those bothersome Twins.

  16. BOSTON - UConn basketball coach Jim Calhoun was honored by the call, but there was no way he was going to accept the offer. A chance to throw out a ceremonial first pitch at Yankee Stadium doesn't come along very often - only a true Red Sox fan would snub it.

"I got the call as soon as we got back (from New Orleans)," Calhoun said after throwing out the ceremonial first pitch yesterday at Fenway Park. "Actually they called twice.

"I just said firmly that I would visit there to watch the Red Sox, but I'm not going to step on that mound."

The coach of the NCAA champions grew up in Braintree, Mass., and his family were followers of the Boston Braves. But after the Braves left, by fatherly decree they began a love affair with the Red Sox. Like most of their fans, he is long-suffering.

"Last fall I told (freshman forward) Josh Boone that I had nothing against him except the name Boone," Calhoun said. "I told him that name didn't conjure great memories for me."

Calhoun was startled when the Yankees called back a second time to invite him. "I think they were surprised, like I didn't hear them right the first time," he said. "I have great respect for those guys, but there's no question my heart is here with the Red Sox.

"I half expected the next call to be from (George Steinbrenner) to tell me I'm fired."

Calhoun's team was adopted by many in the New York area because of area products like Taliek Brown of Queens, Ben Gordon of Mount Vernon and Charlie Villanueva of Brooklyn.

"They should have had Taliek and Ben and some of the guys from New York do that," he said. "Obviously Connecticut is a divided state in many, many ways. It's not divided for me. I know where my passions lie."
