I can't draw flies either.. I always mess up on the wings..
But I think we sell Frank short on his getting into the hall. I think in general most give him credit for his accomplishments. Right now the contract crap overshadows that. Once he's no longer playing I think he'll get the "love"..
Maybe I phrased this wrong. I believe as soon as you show a highlight reel of the 1990s, he's in. Maybe it will take a vote or two, and it will depend on who else is eligable each year, but I cannot imagine the Hall without Thomas.
-
I've always believe Marriotti to call em like he sees them. IIRC he also slammed Sosa at times last season.
-
Does anyone care that the word "love" has been hijacked. We "love" the Sox, we "love" SUVs, we "love" Jesus? Is there a clear difference or are we talking a continuing scale?
-
OK, how about two Hall of Fame players. I do not believe Frank is even on the bubble, except maybe because of his steller PR skills, but Sammy will be a certain HoF player, if not a first ballot kind of guy.
But, the main point I am making is this. Frank is one of the Sox greatest players and he can't draw flies.
-
What is sad is right now, in Chicago arguably the greatest Cub of all time, Sosa; and the greatest White Sox of all time, Thomas are playing. And we are talking about needing a bigger draw than Maggs. Frank isn;t even in the equation :headshake

Thank you APU. Well written.
But revenge is sweet, and some people want blood.

I cannot find a thing in there to disagree with. One option that hasn't been mentioned is sign Ordonez and trade Frank for a dozen balls and a pound of cheescake to the Yankees or someone who can handle his contract.
If I could only have Maggs or Frank, at this stage in their careers, I would take Maggs.

I am planning a trip to Big Bend National Park and realized we would be travelling about 10 miles from the nearest road. That go me to thinking, most people spend their entire lives within a mile of a road or a car.

Thank you Tex, that was exactly how I was feeling.
Personally, from studying the New Testament I cannot find any sort of support for the death penalty. My heart goes out to the Sjodin family, and I imagine the hurt, grief, pain and anger will live on for a long time with them--and they will find themselves surprised at benign events that make them question their faith, their forgiveness, and the purpose of their lives.
I have never had a close loved one be murdered, but there are some "sins" (if you want to call them that) that murder aspects of ourselves and that people have to live with for the rest of their lives. I have seen and felt the ramifications of those acts in my life and those of my friends. I could never ask for a human life--nor accept one to be taken on my behalf to reconcile some wrong done to me. Violence will not save anyone from the pain they feel--it is a temporary fix. Lock up predatory people who feed on innocent lives, but taking a life only says that violence will save us from violence. And that's something I don't understand.
The Bible is filled with parables and meaning that needs to be dug out from a personal perspective. What is plain to me is, Thou shall not kill.
1. Our system is not perfect. (OJ free)
2. Innocent people are convicted and later found innocent
3. Only God should have that power, not the government.
CW wrote a couple days ago that an eye for an eye leaves everyone blind. I like that.

From the Ruminations Archives...
To all the people who said I was crazy to sink
all my money into tech stocks, I have just one
thing to say: Can I sleep on your couch?

I can...evidently the "palis" cannot!!!
Again, you are painting every Palistinian with the same brush stroke. Let them bury their dead. I've seen the footage of these protests that spawn from funerals. We've seen them in South Africa, we've seen them in the US, it isn't usually the families who are grieving, it's people from the community who are using the funeral as a vehicle for protest.
Be human and let people bury their war dead.

You wouldn't want to do it today. I heard it was like 85 degrees and really windy.
The heat wouldn't be killer, the wind would be.
I never was able to run Boston. The year I had scheduled to go, they changed the qualifying and I did not have a chance to run a qualifying time before the race. I also didn't have the travel budget to go somewhere warmer than Chicago in December. I learned later they were granting exceptions for college racers.

I do believe in Freedom of Speech; incendiary language is NOT protected by Freedom of Speech. (You can't scream "fire" in a crowded theater!)
Shhoting AK-47s in the air and screamind "Death to Israel, death to the Jews" = incendiary language!
Can we separate a protest, from a funeral, from a military action?
-
forgiveness doesn't mean we should continue to be victims. Some people should never be set free.
-
Tex...
Tell me you have no problem with 100,000+ "Palestinians" carrying real and fake weapons, chanting "death to the Jews", "Revenge!", etc.
:headshake
I have a problem with sending a missle to a funeral.
I guess you do not believe in freedom of speech. But that's ok, either did the Ohio National Guard.

This was Boston Marathon time for me, when I was younger

I love it!
I set it on the tee and you guys hit it over the fence!
Actually, I think you delivered it on a tray

It would be cool is Israel threw some Apaches at the next Hamas funeral procession!!
Just think of all the current and future terrorists they could take out!

Yep.
Still? I thought he sold it last year.
Here is an old link to some info which may or not be accurate

And we sit back and do nothing
No WMD, no oil, and Haliburton is too busy with their Iraq contracts to make some money. Why do anything?
Of course I sure would like to see Britian, and Russia, and Poland, and Canada, and France, and Italy, and Mexico, and Australia, and Spain, and so on do something.

What happened to "BE GOOD sons and co."???
He's been upgraded to Be Good and dropped the OPENING caps unless it's a special occassion. He also gave us up for lent.
All of his sports passions are contained here

I'm not worried. It's only one game, and I didn't expect the sweep the SKankees anyways.
I still think our luck with new pitchers will change this year.

I was just thinking that for many songs and artists there is one way to interpret the song and have a hit. I think the Beatles could have recorded most of their song 10 different ways and had 10 hits. I've yet to here an alternate recording that I haven't enjoyed
