I am certain there are some shareholder owners that invest to lose money and win, but I'm guessing the majority are in it to make a profit. Same as every other business owner.

Being away from Chicago I love hearing the accent. There is a group that meets for every game here and I haven't gone in a couple years, now I hate being the wagon jumper.

Chicago White Sox's Offseason FA Signings Trades Megathread

I agree that adding "just" anybody doesn't make sense. I think they are looking at a 75 win season which they can come close to without adding much. -
Good for him. I wasn't at much of a fan until his replacement showed up.

As the "other" English teacher around here I approve this message. Plus the OP was damn funny. -
Per Passan: White Sox sign Munetaka Murakami 2 years 34M

I hadn't heard that. We can cross that one off. I just think of the marque positions that rarely turn over. -
I thought it said Cubs at first. LOL I hope he does well.

"Bad owner" for fans of the team. Great owner for investors. Very good owner for the other owners, although that has dropped the past ten years. Very good owner to non player employees. (Loyalty and job protection) Average to above average owner for average players. Well below average owner for superstars looking for appropriate contracts. Well above average for players and coaches with literally no other place to work. Average (big guess on my part) to neighboring businesses and the surrounding community. -

More disposable paper plates for the summer BBQ. Save the good stuff for 2027. -
I'd be excited to acquire him for a mid level prospect and at half the salary. We could talk about him rebounding, etc. In this case it will be better to receive than to give. But reality is we have him. I keep thinking that him in the line up in 2026 only makes sense in the altered reality at 35th and Wentworth*. *Shields just hasn't made sense to me.

I wish positive influence on the game and character played a role in the selection. Fame: the state of being known or talked about by many people, especially on account of notable achievements.

The tax angle is so overblown. No one went broke paying taxes on profits. JR sold properties and paid taxes to build the wealth that allowed him to buy a portion of the team. Imagine yourself saying please don't give me that $1,000,000 because I'll have to pay $300,000 in taxes or not selling your house at a profit to avoid paying taxes.

I wish someone would write a book on the behind the scenes scheduling discussions going on at the top programs. With it being such a huge factor I image there is a lot of work being put in. -
This is the equivalent of Don't put out the good plates, grab those paper plates over there and just throw them away. We need someone to eat some innings then go away.

Would everyone agree that any of the top 16 teams could win against each other on any given day? Give the current #16 Texas another shot at current #1 Ohio, and the results could be different. So ability isn't really a factor as much as deserving. A bad loss in college football just isn't something that you can ignore even paired with a couple "quality losses". So sorry Texas, Florida ended your season. That's been constant for decades, even before the playoffs. But, if they want to award exciting non conference play, and teams firing up the TV ratings ($$$$$$$), you have to say welcome to the playoffs Texas and thank you for that one touchdown road loss to kickoff the season and three wins against teams that were ranked in the top 10 when you played them. -

If Texas schedules a cupcake instead of Ohio State they are probably in the playoffs. If that's what we're encouraging we're basically going to reduce the excitement in the regular season to enhance the playoffs. Perhaps that's a good thing. -
My girls team just won their second tournament in a row and then they all headed off to the National Honor Society induction.

No. I also believe the occasional bad contract is a healthy sign of a team being competitive.

The league is fine. These guys generate billions on revenue. Fans will keep paying.

Turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green beans, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie. Slightly different than if I was back in Texas.

His lips were moving but someone else planted the words. He is the executive of the century to this point. And we're a fourth of the way through.

I can't believe there is a less interesting position than 1B/DH

I just love being back in Chicago in the winter and have the Bears be relevant. I'll take "not as good as their record" arguments over "they aren't as bad as their record".
