  1. It's always the second highest bidder that sets the price.
  2. Not so bold. Every time a Sox player is mentioned we'll think who? 🤔
  3. I believe that is an excellent example of an outlier. And based on over a hundred years of White Sox baseball we are much more likely to give than receive in that scenario.
  4. Just when Burke was feeling good about himself you bring up his future. Bastard raining on his parade. Lol
  5. Slightly absurd that writers will say no one year but yes the next. Yet in an absurd system, this does seem absurd.
  6. I already know I'm in a small minority with this view. I'm a believer in it being a Hall of Fame not hall of great stats. It's a celebration of baseball and the players who played the game. I'm ok if guys who elevated the game with their character are recognized. Guys like Buerhle and Baines played the game in the way, and were the kind of humans, that I could point to as why baseball is a great game. Cheaters, liers, and criminals don't meet that bar. But again, no need to call me out, give other examples, etc. I'm not trying to influence anyone's opinion, just sharing mine.
  7. Thank you. I thought I was the only one.
  8. I wouldn't mind seeing a homage to the lake front. The citizens of Chicago were blessed when the Montgomery Ward fought to keep the lakefront open for everyone. Burnham for his planning. Dead smelt would be appropriate currently, but maybe someone nicer.
  9. The intent was not to compete with the traditional, historic, standard, uniforms. These were to be dessert, temporary, throw away, icing on the cake, as permanent as a first spouse, special occasion, uniform. Oh yeah, and to make money. I probably should have listed that first.
  10. I wonder what that year's jersey will look like?* *I kid because I care.
  11. Once again you're wrong but congrats on having someone teach you AI to improve that horrible writing style you've inflicted on us. 😆 But really, thank you. Each admin brings something a little different to the mix. And like every poster here, each admin goes through stages where the general frustration with the team seeps into every interaction and post. I went through a "fvck it, move the team" phase until someone pointed out that's really unfair as an out of town fan. So I knocked it off. Other mods have done the same thing after it's been pointed out. The major conflict these past years happen when a poster is genuinely happy about something or someone with the team. Then we have to beat that optimism out of them. 😁
  12. I'm not surprised. Put a MLB team in San Antonio and I'm going to games. I love being at the ball park. From a fan perspective. If quality of the game and the teams playing was really the deciding factor then many years we'd be going to watch Cub games. I'm not advocating for everyone to go watch a Sox game. My streak of 50+ years of seeing a game ended. No one in my family bought any packages.
  13. Which is probably the #1 reason baseball franchises have grown in value. If you are a Sox fan you're not going to go see them play the Angels. But if you are an Angels fan you will. So Sox fans who reach their limit can Find a new team to follow. There's even one in town. But any could do. Give up going to MLB games unless you move or travel. If someone still loves being at a baseball game, but going isn't an option, and lives in Chicago, do they go to a Cubs game? Drive to Milwaukee? They are still engaging with a MLB team.
  14. I failed as an English teacher with that question structure. Lol I think Eddy has a point. We want "our" team to be trying. Who cares about the other.
  15. Here's something I thought of. If you were for example a Padres fan. You decide to go see a game that weekend. You look at the schedule and see they are playing the White Sox. Do you decide to pass because the Sox are horrible and not trying and you only want to watch MLB level teams who are trying? Are the Sox hurting attendance for everyone?
  16. I was moving in that direction and really enjoying college sports. Then it became professional with the same problems.
  17. It really is how someone defines "not trying". Not trying by the front office to me would be no trades, keep the entire coaching staff in place, draft a few players based on what they read here. Trying would be rebuilding the farm system and hiring new coaches and managers. But that's just my definition.
  18. You don't think the players are trying? Or the front office isn't trying?
  19. I'm trying to understand what games are worth your time watching. Even if somehow I knew it's a blow out in advance it is still with my time. I'm trying to understand your time.
  20. I've been to plenty of games that ended with a team winning by six or more runs. Are those not worth your time? Or only when your team wins?
  21. I've gone to many MLB games were I didn't have a dog in the fight. Because of the stadium, the history, a few players on either roster I wanted to see, or I just love the game. I've also lived in an area that only had independent league. Another area that has AA and college. While the Sox are the worst team in MLB baseball it's still MLB baseball.
  22. "I'm arresting you for public intoxication" " I just got here!" "It's 2025. No one walks into a Sox game sober"
