  1. He's lived a great life. Not many people can boast of owning a World Series winning team and NBA championships. Happy Birthday.
  2. And the league definitely wants to expand globally so I imagine eventually there will be teams there. Imagine playoffs of the European, North American, Asian, and Middle East champions. It would be nice if every business just wanted to improve the communities, paid livable wages, and were loyal. But that's too much like socialism or communism. Instead it's all about profits. Eventually leagues will run out of communities willing to give them benefits for their economic contributions, but I doubt that will be in my life time and probably not yours.
  3. No, owning a sports franchise should be a money losing venture solely for the benefit of fans in the area. (I wish we still had green) It's not just sports team that receive breaks like this. The state of Texas gave billions to have Tesla and Toyota relocate here. On a smaller scale most towns have economic development agencies whose job it is to lure business with a favorable deal. Indiana can be the New Jersey of the Midwest.
  4. The team should be more interesting and entertaining and not in the watch how many different ways we can lose way.
  5. I was just at The Lost Maples Cafe where scenes were shot for Seven Days in Utopia.
  6. Jesse Jackson. A link all the way back. I remember during his presidential campaigns discussing the problem of American companies moving manufacturing jobs to lower income countries before anyone else was talking about it. While born in California he based his operations in Chicago and was a Chicago guy. RIP
  7. The best White Sox dick of all time. Although a long ago poster would have said Albert Bell.
  8. The systemic problems seem woven into the DNA of the team going back over a century, through multiple owners on down
  9. Putting this in the most favorable light I can think of. There may be some roster moves that he can't get involved with in the most intimate details. Maybe he really needs to pay attention to 25% of them. I didn't believe that is true, but trying to find the best light. This would have to be one of the most important. This isn't like he's filling a AA roster move. He's moving one of the few mlb caliber players on the roster.
  10. Watching a basketball game all all of a sudden the "Big Game" half time show comes on. That would be awful.
  11. Sochan to the Bulls makes too much sense to happen. He needs a regular position and minutes or his career may be over at 22. The Bulls would get versatility at forward at a cheap price.
  12. By the way curling fans there is a pod cast about a huge controversy that almost destroyed the sport. Well worth listening to.
  13. I think we can all agree that the team is doing everything possible to win 66 games this season. I'm truly amazed by the all in attitude.
  14. Next he'll sue his parents for bad genetics that weren't quite good enough. But, I'd still rather he get the money than JR
  15. I really miss the days when that was backed by actual hope. "Honey I found this plastic platter at a garage sale for 50¢, we can just throw it away after the BBQ."
  16. When we remodeled our bathroom that was the one thing that I insisted on. My wife thought I was crazy, now we're looking into options for our travel trailer. Lol
  17. *English Nerd Warning!! I'm currently teaching Beowulf Hwæt! I am the Filth-Slayer, foe of the Tree-Scraper! I wash the Seat-King whiter than the Pale-Hose. I wield the Wave-Spear, a pure South-Side-Surge. The Shadow-Stain is vanquished. Next we could go medieval and have a story telling contest between the players while on a road trip.
  18. Check, check, and check. Kohler. Once you have one you'll know.
  19. This may have been the first trade I can remember where fans of both teams hated it. 😂
  20. I am certain there are some shareholder owners that invest to lose money and win, but I'm guessing the majority are in it to make a profit. Same as every other business owner.
  21. Being away from Chicago I love hearing the accent. There is a group that meets for every game here and I haven't gone in a couple years, now I hate being the wagon jumper.
  22. I agree that adding "just" anybody doesn't make sense. I think they are looking at a 75 win season which they can come close to without adding much.
  23. Good for him. I wasn't at much of a fan until his replacement showed up.
