While not having the right guys, there was also having some wrong guys. At least he takes the responsibility of multiple families seriously and wanted to lock in that paycheck to pay for them all.

Where is it? I know we all want to just wallow in the ineptitude, and why not, we're the worst team in baseball. But knowing there are better times ahead would be nice. I can't find any. But I'm looking at the organization and thinking about the next three years and I'm not seeing enough bodies for a competitive team.

I didn't think a competitive contract would get an established player to come here for the next couple seasons. Given this team and basically any other team, why come here? They would have to offer over competitive deals or get guys with baggage. It's like all the fans of other teams that think all their GM had to do was call the Sox and get Cease. It's easy. Call Getz, make an offer, and get the guy. Anyone can do it. Yet it didn't happen for most teams.

I think he speaks the truth. If it was that easy every team would be great. Everyone believes because if a guy signed for X with a club they would also sign with the Sox for the same deal all we had to do was ask. Proposing deals and trades is easy. How many threads have been written here for two decades proving how easy it is? Now that we've established it's a hard job building a winning team, we now question if anyone in this organization is up to a hard job? I didn't think so.

Isn't he exactly a grow with the team hire? He obviously needs to grow. Any already accomplished manager would laugh if the Sox called.

Name any brilliant strategy a manager might try and the talent on this team will cause it to fail.

To me firing him would be a silly PR move to try and convince fans the team is better than they are. We know that's crap. They are a 110 loss talent team. He ain't hurting anyone, they do that in their own.

I see one possible scenario of a three game win steak If a team comes to town really slumping, and the Sox won the previous series final game, they could win the first two in a series before getting blown out 23-0 in the next game. They have Miami on the road so a three win is unlikely. Here's the spot. On 7/14 they win the final two against Pittsburgh then they rest during the all star break and come back and win one against KC in KC.

He cares enough to tie up a multigenerational fortune in the team. I honestly believe he does care but isn't very good at knowing when to change directions. He's also loyal to the point that it has cost the team wins. I'll agree with all of the other criticism of the man. He's stubborn, cheap at times, etc but I do believe he cares. Which actually makes this all the worst.

I remember watching the slow speed chase on the ER waiting room TV at Highland Park Hospital. I was picking up my wife after her shift and instead of hanging out in the back I stayed by the TV. Crazy moment.
