I can't think of Castro without thinking of Ozzie.
-
Do you feel that way about all stocks or just baseball teams? I don't look at it much different than buying shares in any other company.
-
It's certainly possible. I'm just conditioned as a Sox fan to not get excited while reading the tea leaves. Plus Occum's Razor. The simplest answer is usually the correct one. The other issue that makes me doubt there is a "spitshake deal" is who here would accept a verbal promise from JR to eventually take controlling interest? That doesn't seem likely. But he did give fans free antennas to watch the Suns play. So he and JR can bond over that. I'm not saying it isn't possible, but I didn't believe it is as likely as some posters seem to believe. But it is interesting to ponder why. Perhaps after his people completed their due diligence he decided Minnesota wasn't a good investment. He wouldn't be the first person to back out of a purchase after getting a better look at the books. And there probably is a confidentiality agreement in place to prevent him from stating that.

💯 Always expect the worst as a Sox fan.

All of the shareholders are getting older and have different issues with estate planning. JR could simply be helping one of the shareholders in their transition by controlling who buys in.
-
Just like JR did.

That's right, we have a new manager

I miss the good old days when Sox players used a blow up doll as a slump buster instead of humans.
-
Does it? Then why do so few actually make the news?

So from what I can tell he is represented by https://acesincbaseball.com/about My guess is Getz is trying to maintain relationships with a top agency. Still makes for a really, really, bad signing.

At one time, not that long ago, the Sox had a legacy of social justice achievements that landed them on the right side of history in the 20th Century. That will not be true about the 21st century.

Hardcore Cub fans stick there nose into the ass in front of them and go to games year after year, no matter what, for the experience. Hardcore Sox fans stay home. Then you have the battle for the casual fan that goes to maybe a game or two each year. They can't name more than a couple players. Some years they may skip a game and go to a museum or some s%*#. Many of those fans will go to a suburban stadium no matter which team is the home team. The hardcore fans for either team? They will b**** if the other team moves into their neighborhood and never visit except for a crosstown game.
-
I think if a team fell in their laps suburban dwellers would jump on the bandwagon. But it can't be a team that loses 120 games. That s%*# doesn't sell anywhere.

Thomas Wolfe said it best "you can't go home again"
-
While that argument makes sense for an out of town fan who has never lived in the city, it's odd to hear this from a Brother Rice grad who should understand the roots of the team. Unless, you're trying to spark conversation.

I believe you mean you*couldn't* care less. As you wrote it, you care, perhaps a lot, about SS2k5 (as we all do). Is this really about where someone walks on their lunch break?
-
Agreed. There is so much past data than can be analyzed and simulations run that it takes multiple people. They also need to be familiar with each other and their individual talents. I'll assume (without any information) that our people aren't as good at that as most other teams because I'm a Sox fan.

And one in San Antonio. With pizza the local places can't get the sausage seasoning the same. I assume with beef or will be the same issues.

It's the Sox penalty. Why come here when you have other offers at the same price? Start at the top. How many hundreds of millions more would they have had to pay Ohtani? Then it travels all the way down to the barely deserve minimum to sign guys.

Damn. f*** cancer. -
I don't want to have any positive thoughts about this season. Anything positive will be crushed by the first warm days of spring.

Thank you hip hop.
