I dont care about that 3rd base piece of crap on the n-side. I am wondering if anyone agrees with me on PK. He is really quite pathetic right now and if he was juicing all those years when he was playing good then I lost respect for the man. KW should just cut him and PK can go open a gym or juice stand with Sexson!!!!!

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 12, 2008 -> 06:47 AM) Paulie never was all that big. Any weight he may have lost was fat. One guy I noticed who has become a lot think but it hasn't affected his numbers is Aramis Ramirez. Well it sure looks like he is wearing Frank Thomas' uniform. He is swimming in that thing. Besides the size he is getting hurt more and his hand eye coordination is off too. I would bet the house PK was juicing and now we are going to have to either suffer through another season with his deflated stats and deflated arms.

I know they helped us win a WS and I personally have no problem with Uribe. My problem lies with PK. The one thing nobody has mentioned is that its quite interesting that PKs avg and run production have been seriously diminished over the last 2 years and he looks significantly smaller. If it was the juice that gave him his power well then no matter how many games he is in there its not coming back. This really really sucks because this also prevents us from trading him away. Why Paulie why?? Now I challenge anyone out there to say Paulie wasn't using roids! Besides Kerry Wood on the northside Paulie is the only other Chicago player with a significant deflation. He looks like he has lost 30lbs and his neck and arms are much much smaller.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Feb 20, 2008 -> 11:17 AM) They edited the original article on chicagotribune.com, leaving the door open for Colon, but saying his signing isn't imminent. Hope that it's the garage door there leaving open!!!!!! Sorry that was stupid I apologize!

QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Feb 20, 2008 -> 11:03 AM) What is the word out there on the condition of Freddie Garcia? If he was healthy I would have expected Ozzie to claim family ties and go after him instead of Colon. I believe Freddy isn't projected to be ready until mid-season. Where Bartolo is a potential starter for the beginning of the season. What they should do is sign them both. That way when BC's arm falls off or eats himself out of a job then we plug in Freddy.

All I keep hearing is how PECOTA was dead on last year? Does anybody know what they predicted our record to be in 2005 and 2006? Also what did they predict for team like the Rockies or Brewers last year?

When I tarted this topic I did not realize how much Uribe hatred there is out there! WOW! I wonder if Uribe has a MONSTER (long shot I know) How many people who have this dislike will be the first ones saying "We have to sign him" or "KW F'd up by signing him to a one year deal" Ponder this: Let's say O-cab goes down for a couple of months would you rather have JUAN URIBE or ALEX CINTRON filling in for a long period. That's basically who Uribe is taking over for.

Ozzie was just on the espn 1000 and stated that he was excited about the Crede/Fields AND Uribe/Richar competition for 3rd and 2nd. I thought this was interesting for a few reasons. 1.First off I understand Ozzie is towing the line and knows Crede will most likely be traded. 2.I thought Uribe was going to be slotted in a utility role. 3.Maybe they feel some competion can bring out a more determined Uribe. So what are my fellow SOX fans thoughts. If Uribe has a good spring and comes in to ST in shape would you be excited about Uribe at 2nd base. I always thought that Uribe's defensive strength was his release and arm strength. Would this be lost playing second? Is Richar's mobility better suited for 2nd?

After watching the always "entertaining" Chicago Tribune Live and see that their was so much hopelessness in there Sox discussion (oh by the way the CUBS are gonna win 95 games) I realized that there is so much despair out there. I personally like being the underdog. So instead of putting up line ups and stats I would like to keep it simple. Here are a few things that we have going our way and could help. PLEASE keep in mind this is for fun and assumes that there is probably a move or two left in old KW. 1. Defense should be pretty damn good. 2. Starting pitching questions are mostly a matter of youth. If ONE of these guys steps up we will be pretty solid 3.We've got SWISHER. He's the spark people have been whining about since Rowand left.(Better hitter to boot) 4.There will be no pressure b/c nationally there's no one giving them a chance in hell. 5.When clicking they can be one hell of an offense! And our OBP should go up with Ocab and Swish. 6.Finally there are a lot of BP ?s but the guys that are ?s have all done it before. Basically its a mental thing. GO SOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bring on the 95 win CUBS in the WS!!!!!!!!! Oh almost forgot that CTL host KAPLEN is a MAJOR TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLL. The other panelist know it too! Who is this clown!

White Sox Acquire Nick Swisher from Athletics

QUOTE(bmags @ Jan 3, 2008 -> 02:57 PM) wouldn't we all, bearsox? But we don't, and when we make a move like this to greatly improve a position on this team for the next 5 years, how is that different than having a all star potential OF waiting in the wings? I think in the next few years our new scouting dept. will have this team suited well to have impact players coming in about 2011. So i'm not worried about moving these spects for a legitimate hitter. The point of having a farm system is so you can nab guys like this. Now we have a legitimate OF for the first time since ... maybe 04 i guess. Now we have the #8 pick in the draft and a new scouting dept. what's the point of keeping guys that weren't that highly thought of anyways for a really good hitter? BRAVO! Couldn't have said it better myself! -

I know last year our offense was BAD!!!!!!!!! Swishers OBP would be tied for second with Paulie and only behind Thome. This with the O-cab addition makes our offense much more balanced. -

Just an FYI, I called my buddy in SF (He's a die hard A's fan). He didn't hear about the deal yet. I told him and he was pissssssssssed. He loves Swisher and says that they better have gotten some "studs" in return. I chuckled and told him they were! lol I always think its good to get another teams perspective. Like when we traded Jon G. and there were some UPSET fans but not as upset as the fans in LAA. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jan 3, 2008 -> 01:36 PM) BTW, good riddance to Ryan Sweeney, one of the most overrated prospects I've ever seen. THANK YOU! This is dead on. Your quote saved me from leaving soxtalk due to all the idiots that can't see how good a deal this is. Also, Kenny can trade Konerko/Crede/Uribe/Dye either before the season or during the season to get back prospects. Considering how bad our farm system is we can rebuild with other teams prospects. AS Far as those who say O-Cab as our leadoff. Not going to happen. He was picked up to be a number two hitter and thats where he is going to be. -
At some point in there career I believe the following 2 FORMER SOX will be listed Cliff Polite and Neil Cotts!!!!!!!!!! Anyone agree?

You're the GM. Firesale is the plan.

QUOTE(Hatchetman @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 09:10 AM) um, that was a joke. Sorry bout that. Went on when I got up after a TERRIBLE day yesterday. Wasn't thinking clearly. When I saw that I was thinking, great now my people are sounding like Cub fans. Please accept my humble apology. -

QUOTE(joesaiditstrue @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 08:07 AM) the only way i'd want the sox to go into the playoffs in 08 would be to do it convincingly, with a mid-90 win season and incredible seasons out of danks/floyd/gio/contreras i want draft picks ;( OK I sure hope you are only talking in Fictional Firesale Mode. But I'm sorry this is the most pathetic quote I have ever seen from a "SOX" fan. So lets say we have a HUGE offensive year and our BP plays solid and DANKS and FLOYD bomb, you would be hoping they DON'T make the playoffs. Way to support the team. Just go North and get yourself a WOO WOO Jersey I am sure they'll welcome you with open arms. GO SOX!!!!!!!!! -
QUOTE(max power @ Dec 7, 2007 -> 05:55 PM) I am curious what would be realistic for roberts too. Why in the world would they want crede? I was wondering the same thing unless they have plans for Mora. I read that on prosportsdaily. I agree that would be an awesome 1, 2 combo but the other two (pierre/crisp) would be pretty good to. If Crisp only has two years left at a MAX of 9 mil a year and Pierre at about the same for 4 yrs. Could be a bargain with the way the market is right now. PierreCrisp would give us what we lacked in a table setter. I don't know why but I keep picturing ESPN coming on with a Picture of Pierre in a SOX cap. Remember Kenny's best moves are the ones that come out of nowhere.

QUOTE(max power @ Dec 7, 2007 -> 05:33 PM) We don't really have a need for another major league ready corner outfield prospect/player. I Agree Eithier is a great looking prospect. We NEED a CF and top of the order guy. I really hate to say it but I like the thought of Pierre in CF. The guy seems to steal more bases every year. With the exception of a few slow starts he's pretty solid. Plus it would be great to have him come back and succeed in a Sox.

I thought this would be a good discussion with 3 different options. After I relaxed from all the WINTER MEETING emotional ride I thought that these are 3 guys that could be had via trade. Coco has been rumored out there for some time. It seems Roberts has come up recently with Baltimore supposedly inquiring on Crede. Finally Pierre might be able to be had with the Jones signing with the Dodgers. Does anybody know what these guys have left on there contracts? If its 3yrs or left it could fit into KWs ideal plan.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 05:59 PM) Did Steve Phillips just say that Johan and Dontrelle are close in terms of ablility? Philips is a knucklehead! He must have come up with the thought of Santana=Cabrera AND Willis. Its the only thought he has been repeating and paraphrasing all day. It kind of sucks that with all the "sources"Olney/Gammons/Philips have they ONLY talk about Santana/Detroit situations. Even a few minutes on "rumors" would be good. Even when they are not true they are fun to discuss.

With thw WMs starting on Monday and KW being known for his wheelings and dealings I was curious what people thought about the number of moves that will be done. I am going with 3. (two trades and one free agent signing). I don't know all the deals but here are a few thoughts: 1)We will have a Coco in the OF. 2)We will somehow lose 3 BP arms and gain 1. 3)Both Crede and Fields will still be on the team. 4)One "Surprise move" which will result in the loss of either (Konerko,Dye, or Vasquez) These are just complete gut feelings, feel free to rip my theory apart or add your own thoughts. (PS HELLO to my transplanted SOX family in LEXINGTON, KY!!! HI! BEN! MATTHEW! and JOEY!! oh yeah u too DAN!)

So its official and I'm fine with it. We needed to increase our OBP and cut down on strikeouts. This should do that and add a little spark and energy. Don't get me wrong I have always likes Garland but anyone who thinks he would be around after next year is insane. He always wanted back to CA. Just listen to his audio clip, he sounds so happy! The first of at least four moves, i predict for old KW. (2.Hunter/3.Bullpen Help/4.Another starting pitcher (nothing flashy,an old timer on a short term contract or someone off a bad year like the pitcher that KC released) (HEY DAN! HOPE EVERYONES GOOD IN KY!)

ESPN just had breaking news about a 3 Way Deal that FELL THROUGH. Here is goes: Bulls send Ben Gordon and PJ BRown to the Kings and Ben Wallace to LA Kobe comes to the Bulls and Ron Artest goes to the Lakers! Please feel free to discuss. Oh the hold up was the amount of money owed to Wallace.
