  1. If they REALLY want to dump Benintendi's contract, another team's going to have to see him playing LF capably to make that move for him IMO...and, since he's still under terms for three more seasons, it's not quite as simple as snapping one's fingers and moving him there (see all the arguments for Eloy DHing, for example, that never ultimately "won" out).
  2. The problem is with Slater Taylor Robert Jankowski and Tauchman rostered...it's NOT yet clear he even WOULD play. In theory, they'd have to release one of Venable's favorites from when he was the bench coach in Texas with Bochy. We can argue that he SHOULD get more playing time over all those guys, other than Robert, but that's neither here nor there.
  3. He also seemed to struggle turning double plays. Which is probably because he played 5-6 different positions in the spring and hasn't worked a whole lot with Amaya...that chemistry is something you only develop playing day after day with someone for weeks at a time, not just getting thrown out there in 30's and 40's temperatures in April across the Midwest and Rust Belt.
  4. I wouldn't count on it. There are a lot fewer veterans down in the pen, and Clevinger's now the closer, more or less. That's a recipe for disaster, if ever there was one. Booser looked like the best LHP down in the pen coming into the season, and he's been the shakiest.
  5. Didn't want to pay for FedEx...so they're coming via the Pony Express instead.
  6. The problem is we still don't have a natural SS with that arrangement. You're going to end up playing Baldwin, Sosa or Meidroth there...or Maton, who's now primarily a 2B/OF. Rojas is a great 3B, a very good 2B and an average big league SS...maybe a touch over average.
  7. https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-reaction-to-yankees-torpedo-bats This was pretty much THE story of the Opening Weekend in MLB...as well as the MIT Physicist who designed them (within the legal rules). https://www.mlb.com/news/yankees-discuss-new-torpedo-bats https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6241862/2025/03/30/yankees-bats-aaron-leanhardt-marlins/ He's actually a coach with the Marlins (of all organizations) right now...
  8. How? Their best trade candidate IS a hitter...arguably the best hitter on the team in Robert, Jr. Eventually we'll see Teel and Quero and Meidroth, but it's not like there are immediate run producers out there? Tellez or Rizzo over Vaughn at 1B? Would that really change anything?
  9. This team was only designed with not losing 121 games again in mind. It will be pretty close.
  10. He definitely was rushed last year...time in the minors with regular at bats might end up being the solution, but these are all knee jerk reactions to one series.
  11. Sure I guess you can switch him for Meidroth but just cosmetic changes to the narrative until Teel and Quero are recalled.
  12. The scary part is the starting pitching isn't going to get any better than this...but we know what happens when Central opponents see the Sox coming up on the schedule.
  13. Tim Anderson helps to record final out. Vargas at bat killed them. Baldwin pitch right down the middle lol. How miserable to wait for that resumption of play for 2-3 hours...then we get an angry Twins' squad tmrw.
  14. Vargas to bunt...? Not with Baldwin and Sosa behind him.
  15. Jansen warming again...the other difference is the Angels' pen has been better.
  16. Ellard in...he and Eisert/Vasil the last three in the pen.
  17. Angels with much better defense this weekend.
  18. Marlins already with three last at-bat victories...that will take the Sox 6-8 weeks.
