  1. Current RS/RA Detroit TIgers -99 Chicago White Sox -121 KC Royals -167 Colorado Rockies -169 Oakland A's -302
  2. More excited to tune in to KC/Oak battling for "the worst/#1 draft pick." HR for I'm Not (Named) Bob Gelof. Ned Yost going into KC Royals HoF soon, lol...no word about Pedro Grifol's fate.
  3. That was just to shield the front office from criticism (especially after Dunn and then Ozzie/Buehrle left) since nobody really wanted to blame Ventura for "taking the hit for JR" when he was a favorite or co-favorite of many Sox fans in the 80's and 90's.
  4. Bulls/Sox Academy and NW grad through and through... That's a job with a lot more security than coaching Northwestern baseball, and then there's the whole recruiting thing along with NIL...although not like NU is competing with ACC, SEC, California schools, etc. Academically sure, but the value to conferences isn't even there for Stanford and Cal Berkeley, let alone the Wildcats.
  5. It's hard not to feel a little bit like an Oakland A's fan the way these last two seasons have gone...and now "playing for wins" instead of prioritizing the development of guys like Sosa, Colas, whatever resources they can throw at catcher (Lee and Perez), etc. From a practical standpoint, maybe Pedro "trying to win" will mean even worse results...which means at least ending up with the 3rd position in the draft. Seems too much of a reach to fall back to the Royals and A's with the scant amount of games remaining on the schedule.
  6. They even gave Ke'Bryan Hayes and Bryan Reynolds ($106.75) extensions recently...which blows away the Grandal/Benintendi contracts. One of the most beautiful stadiums in baseball. ONeil Cruz can still be a star. They also have all the attendant excitement about Skenes as well.
  7. All that without the hottest hitter in baseball to deal with...
  8. Why are we even bothering to play Sheets...? Pedro promised Larry to give him opportunities down the stretch?
  9. Well, Andrus is on the verge of catching Benintendi by the end of the season in OPS at this clip...
  10. https://www.mlb.com/gameday/mariners-vs-white-sox/2023/08/21/716905/preview
  11. No Rodriguez tonight...at least not in the starting lineup. Madrigal with a 703 ops at the moment would be ranked third in Sox lineup. Make that fourth with Eloy back yet again. Seattle going with Sunday lineup along with a tough customer in Luis Castillo.
  12. Can't be in a much worse position than where the Sox are right now...what would that even look like? The A's actually moving their franchise? Good number of non Chicagoan fans might even be open to that at this point if it meant a new stadium and keeping the franchise name/logo intact. At least if that meant getting rid of Reinsdorf.
  13. Don't even like the pizza in particular. Back in the day, it was the garlic cheese toast and/or toasted ravioli.
  14. Unfortunately he has the exact same attitude as Angelos in Baltimore. Just not the required vision for transforming the entire area like is currently the trend across numerous ballpark complexes in MLB. Like pairing it with the Star Wars Museum/Theme Park that Melody Hobson envisioned going all the way back to 2016...
  15. Welcome to the Julio Rodriguez Show again, for 2023 this time...
  16. Was high risk from the very beginning...apparently lucking out on Chris Sale for so many years didn't change the draft (and trading) calculus on starting pitching. Well maybe it has...taking pitchers who are already hurt or rehabbing right and left yet another (new) attempted version of Moneyball. Odds are that it has to pay off eventually...at least once.
  17. Don't forget the Burdi pick expecting more "in current draft year" bullpen help...
  18. This summarizes it all pretty succinctly... https://www.southsidesox.com/2023/8/6/23821413/chicago-white-sox-find-themselves-at-crossroads
  19. Any East Coast or Miami Burger Connections? For Burger/s, the best we can do is Imo's Pizza from St. Louis or Ted Drew's Frozen Custards and Concretes.
  20. Only one thing in common. Expensive post secondary educations. Epstein has two WS runs (multiple retools) and can take credit for a number of the positive/popular innovations from the Commissioner's Office impacting baseball this year.
  21. He did win the 2022 Intl Scout of the Year Award or whatever. https://www.soxon35th.com/marco-paddy-named-2022-international-scout-of-the-year/ And some of those moves looked much better years ago. If you include Tatis Jr. and almost getting Juan Soto (or was it Vladdy Jr.?) it's pretty remarkable for just one decade. No Yogurt Sanchez lol? And Micker Adolfo was prominently featured haha. Finally, can anyone realistically blame Paddy more than Hahn/JR for our having to send away international bonus pool money so many times....? And half the time he's being directed to sign "Sox relatives" like Elijah Tatis, Juan Uribe Jr., Franklyn Reyes and a cousin of Vladimir Guerrero to go along with Yoelkis Cespedes' brother, etc. Oct. 2023 – 1B Jose Abreu (six years, $68 million). May 2017 – OF Luis Robert ($26 million bonus). Jan. 2021 – OF Yoelqui Cespedes ($2.05 million bonus). Feb. 2021 – RHP Norge Vera ($1.5 million bonus) Jan. 2022 – OFs Oscar Colas ($2.7 million bonus) and Erick Hernandez ($1 million bonus).
