  1. If you won a net amount of about 30 million after taxes and fees, what would you do? Live a life of luxury? Give away every penny? Quit your job? If I won, I think I'd try very hard to live my life trying to help people in need as my full time job without spoiling myself. But I gotta say, once you have the money, that'd be very hard to do.... What kind of things would you guys do?
  2. The Sox like drafting kids of the Sox organization, i.e. Ozzie, Kenny, and Harold's kids. They all suck, but the only one that's been a waste of draft spot was Kenny Williams.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 5, 2009 -> 02:38 PM) When Richard was doing well, wasn't his fastball popping? What's happened to his arm strength? Does that develop as you get used to being a big league pitcher? He pretty much pitched with max velocity in the first two innings, then he wore himself out. By the 4th inning he just didn't have it in him to continue at that original velocity. He needs to stick with his 92-93 stuff for the majority of the game, then max himself out in his last inning.
  4. Just hit 98, maybe gun is a little upped.
  5. I've never been to a Sox minor league game, but I think it'd be a lot of fun. Too bad they don't have any near Chicago.
  6. I've never had anything all that amazing. I had sec 161 row 1 and a few years back sec in the 130s row 17.
  7. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 10:09 PM) If someone is ready, does it matter? Do you think that extra 2 months in AA helped him at all? No, it didn't. He struggled when coming up just as he would've in April. He's a stud and he is ready. Period. Yes, I think it made a difference. It helps confidence a lot too because AA is the first time that you get to really see pitching thats pretty close to major league quality. Once you know you can hit that kind of pitching, you will be confident that you can do it again. He did hit some major league pitching in ST, but you have to take into account that 1) there's a lot of rust in those pitches and 2) in ST, pitchers just try to get a feel for their pitches and take specific orders from their coaches, not necessarily to always get guys out and win games.
  8. Developmentally it would have been a huge mistake to start Gordon Beckham in the majors straight out of ST.
  9. Gonzo getting some attention tonight
  10. I believe now and I have always believed that the NL is weaker strictly because they have no DH. Their pitchers grow accustomed to facing 8 batters and one practically automatic out in the 9 hole. Even if you are Cy Young of the universe, if you consistently face weaker competition (as you would against 8 batters and an auto out), then you natural digress a bit. Just like if you throw Johan Santana, CC Sabathia, and Tim Lincecum in AAA for years, then bring them back up to the majors, they will likely not be as good as they once were because they became comfortable playing against weaker competition.
  11. Excellent idea, I'll try to work the attic into that picture too.
  12. My wife and I just closed on our first home today! Its in Warrenville. Anyone have advice for a young first time homeowner?
  13. Is the patio party food pretty much the same quality of food as the other food at the cell? Are there typically bad lines in the patio party area since its all you can eat? Or is it not that bad?
  14. Holmberg pitched a very ugly inning, but didn't give up a run.
  15. Whether we won or lost this game, it was one of the best baseball games I've watched in a while in terms of excitement.
  16. QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 06:33 PM) that guy with the goat mask behind home plate is kinda annoying. Ohhhh thats what that is. Thought it was someone with a real ugly face. I need HD.
  17. Not a big fan of Jenks in non save situations
  18. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 05:52 PM) Oh well this game is over now. How can you say that? This game has been back and forth the whole time.
  19. QUOTE (bobryansson @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 05:37 PM) When do I stop being a draft pick? You have to be able to recite the full rosters of our rookie ball teams through AAA teams while blindfolded.
  20. Good to see that Dumpster's going back out again
  21. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 04:58 PM) His name is listed as "Carl Getz" on the All Star Ballot MLB officials overheard him mention that he has doubts about the existence of dinosaurs.
