  1. All Cubs fans are trolls in some form or another, so isn't this thread redundant? :fthecubs
  2. Rex is certainly one of a kind. I'm glad he's on our side.
  3. Unless he's signed to be a human target during batting practice, piss on the little punk.
  4. Nope. It's a little slice of prime rib - just one paper-thin slice. You want so much more because you've tasted the meat, the juice, the flavor - however, you can't afford the whole dinner price, so you walk away and are happy with the ham sandwich you can afford. We shouldn't have to think this way, but we do, since the owner is a jackass. He cries poor mouth for 20 years, but still doesn't sell the team. Hmmm. I would love for anyone qualified to look at his books. He would never allow that, because he would be exposed as the liar and fraud he is. "I would easily trade the 6 Bulls Championships in for just one World Series Championship." - Jerry Reinsdips***, 2000 f***ing liar.
  5. LOL!!! So much for Roger pitching anywhere next year. It's too bad. He was one of the best. I think he's one of the Top Ten pitchers of all time.
  6. Is Steve Sparks still in the bigs? He's not all that bad .......
  7. But we did pay Jose 5 million to put up a batting average 50 points lower, an RBI total 30 points lower, and a fielding percentage slightly lower. So who knows with this team anymore.
  8. I think he can be a decent coach. I'm more worried about our pitching than our 3b coach. Yep. That should be our #1 worry, not if Joey Cora, Joe Bazooka, or Joey Tribiani coaches 3B. We have bigger fish to fry.
  9. It was just a press conference where Jerry Manuel - wearing a Sox uniform - ran up the podium and Pedro grabbed him by the head and threw him down. The dramatics were great, but so choreographed. Pathetic.
  10. If Smithers is an ass-kissing, old, leather-faced, stupid, has-been relic who just won't die- then yes. Smithers it is.
  11. Happy Belated Birthday, Yasny! Do you have any rocks left over from when you were a kid? You know, back in the Mesozoic Era?
  12. This move shows one of two things: 1. The team will spend more money than we think. 2. Kenny Williams is truly trying to unseat Ed Lynch as the most clueless, stupid, brain-dead moron GM in baseball history.
  13. I wish I could laugh, but you're actually really close to the truth.
  14. If Kenny was given a payroll of 75 million, I don't think he would ever complain. However, I would never want to be GM of a cheapass organization headed by a miser like Reinsdick. If I were Kenny, I would demand a 75 million payroll, and if I didn't get it, I would tell Reinsdumbass to stick it up his ass sideways.
  15. Actually, I think they should deal Olivo and Miles for Posada You can't be serious. I have a better chance of screwing Pamela Anderson in an hour than that trade ever has of even being considered. But, dreams and fantasies are important and inevitable for a creative mind. Keep dreaming away. Personally, I would rather trade Konerko, Rowand, and Danny Wright to Seattle for Ichiro, Boone, Olerud, Sasaki, and their top 5 minor-league prospects. Hey, as long as we are dreaming away .....
  16. The whole Billy Koch thing is really a quandry. If we trade him and he really sucks ass for NY, then we would consider the trade as a present gift-wrapped from the Baseball Gods. Kenny would look like a pure genius. However, if we trade him and he ends up 5-4, 2.57, 43 saves, then we would consider it a sign that the Sox truly are cursed by the demons of Hell. Kenny would look like a lobotomized jackass. It could go either way.
  17. I can't even imagine Bob Pulford as Sox GM. We would field a team of 38-42 year old has beens, and we would spend $1000 a week just on his supply of Marlboros.
  18. However, I think that if Ponson is our biggest hope for next season, it's sad. Either that or the talent pool of SP's in free agency is really watered-down and mediocre. This may sound crazy, but I would rather have TWO guys with the money we would pay Ponson. (Anderson and Pavano?)
  19. After reading about the O's stacking him against 4th and 5th starters to inflate his numbers all year .... That's crap. You have off days, rain outs, and other variables in play during the season. If you stick your ace against another team's ace on April 4th, honestly, how many times is he going to always fall in the "#1 ace" vs. "#1 ace" slot? I don't buy that for a minute.
  20. The only problem is that if E-Lo performs like the three of us (and others) think he will, then we won't be able to afford him in 2005. It just seems like we take one step forward and two steps back. I'll be honest, I like the enthusiasm and fire that Ozzie brings to the table, but this year and next year he will have limited resources to work with. NO ONE can manage s*** to the playoffs. NO ONE. It's so frustrating to have ownership who is so cheap and petty. Everyone jumps Kenny's ass for that, but he's only working within the financial parameters he's been given. Do I think KW is smart? No. Do I think he's a good GM? No. But I do know that he is trying his best considering the miser he works for. Hell, even the Marlins owner spent a little money last year even though no one was showing up. But that didn't amount to anything, did it? JR can remodel the park every year until Armageddon, he can send out nice letters, he can trade for veterans at mid-season, etc. Until the tightwad opens up the pocketbook and actually PROVES that he wants it before the season begins, he's nothing but a stupid businessman.
  21. IMO, it will take more than just Maggs to obtain Johnson and Soriano. I truly feel that if we don't add Cotts to the mix, the Yankees won't do it.
  22. I know E-Lo has a history of putting up mediocre numbers, and the majority of people think he had his "career year" and will come crashing down to reality, but let's remember that the guy learned a new pitch last offseason, and has finally "gotten it" mentally a pitcher. Derek Jeter said that E-Lo was "the hardest pitcher I've hit off of all year long." (That quote came in September of this year). People can predict all the gloom and doom they want. Do I think he'll win 20 next year? No - but he'll win 16-18, and we will need every one of those victories. Let me put it this way - he's not Mike Bielecki II.
  23. Are you talking about women, or relief pitchers? It doesn't matter. Both are washed up and broken down once they reach 40.
  24. Agreed. Most guys would just concentrate on improving their hitting only (since hitting is more glamourous), but Carlos has really worked hard at improving all aspects of his game. I know he's not extremely slow, but he's not all that fleet of foot either - yet he stole 18 bases. He's our best hitter right now, IMO. Maggs isn't far behind, but he is behind at this point.
