I still say a proven starting pitcher is priority #1. I may be wrong, and sometimes am, but I still contend that it's the team's biggest offseason priority.
-
If Graffy does leave, at least Geoff Blum is available. Just a thought.

To me, Troy Percival is "Billy Koch II." One of those is hard enough to deal with, but two of them? Yikes!

This should make Beastly happy: From this week's Sporting News and their "White Sox Insider" - Magglio Ordonez will not be traded, despite the constant rumors. The White Sox would truly be hard-pressed to get anywhere near equal or fair value for one of the most complete players in the game. The team wants to create room in its limited budget, and Ordonez is due $14 million next season in the final year of his contract, but G.M. Kenny Williams would need to get a whole lot back in return for trading away the heart and soul of his batting order.

Once again, the rich open their wallets and just scoff at the rest. Those who have hate those who don't, and those who don't hate those who do. F*cking Yankees.

Guys, The Phoenix fans are really fickle, and they were probably and most likely really pissed that the D-Backs traded Schilling. But they got a big-name guy just a day later, which should calm the fans down somewhat. But don't expect them to re-sign Sexson - so he's just a one-year stopgap. One N.L. general manager said it best in this week's Sporting News, "Sexson may hit 50 home runs, but I would rather take my chances not facing Curt Schilling four or five times a year." Now the D-Backs' starting rotation consists of a 40-year-old stud on his last legs, a mediocre Miguel Batista, an inconsistent Elmer Dessens, and young unproven pitchers. Even with Sexson, the D-Backs don't have a chance in that division. But they have the one thing I would kill for - A World Series Championship.

Phil Rogers talks Colon, Matsui, Konerko trade

I still rip on Kenny a lot, but it's more out of frustration than actual hatred. I'm honestly teetering on the fence about Kenny. Some things he does make me happy and ecstatic - and I give credit where it's due. But, some things he does make me think he's the biggest moron walking on Earth. This offseason will really tell a lot about him one way or the other. That being said, I still have little faith in him to do things right. BUT, I would never be happier to be proven wrong than I would be if he assembled an actual "grinding" contender that is competitve AND fun to watch. -
I would like to think we can get more for Maggs than that. He is a really great player - probably a Top 25 player. Gibbons is just another base-clogging bopper (we already have enough of those, don't we?), Cust is "Kevin Maas Part II," and Ainsworth is an "iffy" pitcher at best at this point. I know we might have to get rid of Maggs because of his contract, and other teams know that as well. However, that doesn't mean that we have to accept a pile of marbles in exchange for an emerald.

LMAO!! If it's Colon, Ozzie would need to hang a Christmas forklift.
-
If Ozzie talked to Santa, he would want a stud starting pitcher put in his Christmas stocking.

Looking East: The Dodgers, who are sitting on a Paul Konerko offer from the White Sox, are considering signing South Korean slugger Seung-Yeop Lee to fill their hole at first base. Konerko is at least a PROVEN commodity. The Dodgers would be crazy to take a chance on someone who isn't a proven major-league hitter (Seung-Yeop Lee). Their offense struggles as it is. Come on, Dan, just pick up Konerko and do us all a favor. -
I hope that all of you can keep posting ANY rumors or "possibilities" that are going on with the Sox. I live just 20 miles from Chicago, and I'm not hearing, reading, or seeing ANYTHING. It's too quiet.

My posts were meant in jest - you know, to lighten the mood up. It wasn't that bad at all. I'm just trying to add some sarcastic twisted humor.

Very simple. Turkey (dry), stuffing (mushy), cranberry mix (from HELL), mashed potatoes (lumpy), yams (sweet potatoes - slimy), (burned) baked beans, (fatty) ham, biscuits with (cold) butter, and jello (please!!). The same old s***, different year. When I got home, I went to Taco Bell and ordered 3 three-layer burritos. I hate my mother's Thanksgiving dinner. It used to be good, but now it's just repetitive and nasty. The turkey could pass for a sponge in most cultures. You would think that after 32 years of cooking the same s***, it would taste better. But it gets worse every year. I would rather eat in a restaurant than have to eat the garbage my mother passes off as "food." Yuck. Pure CRAP. I truly think she is trying to alienate us all so she can avoid cooking. Fine by me. That dinner Thursday is the worst ever. Message received, MOM. Maybe I'll go downstairs and eat my cat's litterbox deposit - it's not much different than what I ate at my parent's house.

Theo Epstein is my age - but he's a lot smarter than I could ever hope to be. The guy has some moxy, and some real knowledge of the game. I applaud his move yesterday, and I applaud his effort. If I could succeed at my job just half as well as he does - I will be a rich man very soon. It must be nice to have a GM who actually knows baseball, and knows the right moves to make. It must be nice.
-
Tony, I'm glad you have faith in Kenny. God knows I don't. He's the baseball equivalent to a derelict searching the dumpsters for any scraps of food he can find. You just know some person left a whole chicken wing in there somewhere ......
-
Good move by the Red Sox. They actually have a real good starting rotation now. Pedro and Schilling - both are gettting old, but still have a lot in the tank.
-
Folks, Let me make this simple. The free agency period going on right now is like Thanksgiving dinner. The rich eat all the finer portions, the peasants eat the fallen food and the crap that hit the floor. The Sox are peasants. And we have the Head Peasant under the table of the rich spenders. You go Kenny. Whoop Whoop. You go, Girl!! Kenny is waiting patiently for the table scraps and the nasty leftovers. And once he's done sifting through the scraps and rotting crap, he'll have us a World Series contending lineup. Long live Kenny!!

My favorite? Kenny McCormick from South Park. No matter how many times you kick him, beat him, destroy him, or kill him, he always comes back better than ever. Sounds like my life. Go Kenny! All I have to say to him is "Mmmmmm, mmmmm, mmmmph, mmmmmmph."

If losing a has-been pitcher with health issues is our biggest concern, that would be really nice. However, we have bigger fish to fry, as they say
-
Exactly. If he has a team that has enough talent to compete, then he will either get them to truly compete and play their asses off, or he will just end up with a mediocre record. What pisses me off is that I would love for Ozzie to have managed the roster from last July, August, and September. I guarantee you they would have not only made the playoffs, but made some real noise. However, we had "The Corpse and Cadaver" managing the team. Good riddance, Jerry. You truly are the definition of "moron." Enjoy your 14 hour nap, idiot.

Here it is, from ESPN.com/Stats, Inc. : Sidney Ponson - 2003 Scouting Report and Outlook: The torn rotator cuff and biceps tendinitis that compromised his season have to be a concern to the Orioles, especially after he suffered from elbow tendinitis the year before. They continue to harp on him about his conditioning, believing that if he came to spring training with a lot less weight it would take some of the strain off his arm. The 2003 picture is cloudy due to his injury concerns, and he can't be counted on to pitch an entire injury-free season. If he does, the injury may catch up to him the following season.
