  1. It's pretty sad when I have to long, yearn, and hope for guys like Jay Payton. But what the hell - he's better than what we will trot out in CF or at 2B next year, so hey, go for it. After all, we are only able to afford the table scraps. At least Payton is a drumstick - a table scrap with a little meat left on it. The "poor" and "destitute" would gladly take that. How sad.
  2. Well, I wanted the Sox to make a move - any move. However, I had my sights set for something a "wee bit more exciting." But at least a move was made, which proves that Kenny is still breathing.
  3. does anyone else get the feeling that the powers that be read this message board to see what trades we all want/who we want to sign then avoid them at all costs? You're assuming that the powers that be can actually READ. Quite frankly, I seriously doubt whether some of them could actually spell "fart" if you spotted them the "f," "r," and "t."
  4. Knowing our luck, it will go down in about 30 seconds.
  5. Crap. Once again, good luck to Kenny in finding his "grinders." Kenny would have been a kickass GM about 20-30 years ago. However, I don't know how he will fare in today's major league baseball. Once again - CRAP.

I kid you not - I was playing "The Wall - Live" before I even read this thread. I agree - unless Gilmore and Waters are together - it isn't pure Pink Floyd. "I have become - comfortably numb."

    Christmas List

I just want a mandarin garnet gents ring for my right ring finger. I've been asking for that for 6 years now - does no one get the hint?
  8. My normal phrases? "Just for s***s and giggles .... " "Ain't that about a b**** ..... " "Well, f*** me and call me Dave .... " "No matter how you cut it, slice it, chop it, or dice it ..... " "This sucks worse than a cheap whore ..... " "I'd rather have a flaming cactus shoved up my ass than ... "
  9. Paul Konerko will be playing for his home country ..... SLOW-vakia. Ba-dum-bump!
  10. Finding a taker for Paulie and his overinflated salary? I'd have an easier time trading a rusted-out 1975 Chevy Nova for a painting by Rembrandt.
  11. I don't want to sound ignorant or stupid, because I'm neither, but what the hell is a "grinder" exactly? Is that a Kirk Gibson type, who hustles his ass off, busts his tail, gives 110%, and leaves his heart and soul on the field during each game? If it is, then good luck to Kenny in trying to find those kind of players. Yes, they do exist, but they are rare, and few and far between. Baseball is now dominated by primadonnas, crybabies, sissies, wimps, and players who don't give a s*** about anything but collecting their overpaid paychecks.
  12. If the Sox had played with any heart, emotion, or fortitude the first 3 months of the season, we would have done what the great statistics said that we should have. However, this team was uninspired and lethargic. That falls on the players, yes, but it also reflects the manager - who is now gone, thank God. Some past great sports mind once said that a team can take on the personality of their coach/manager. Never was that more true than on the 2003 White Sox. I'm sure Jerry is STILL sleeping since the season ended. Rip Van Manuel.
  13. Brandon Webb is a good young pitcher, and so is Andrew Good. However, both of them still have a "learning curve" when it comes to the major league scene. Basically, the D-Backs are rolling the dice with their rotation. Sometimes when you roll the dice, you keep hitting the bonus. But the majority of the time, you roll snake eyes. The D-Backs are really hoping, praying, and counting on some young pitchers coming through. That might happen, but it's extremely risky and could end up costing them big time. As they say in Las Vegas, "Let's see where the dice end up."

Any pitcher better than Danny Wright or Jon "Mike Morgan II" Garland is the most important offseason objective.
  15. Encarnacion is a guy with HUGE upside, and great tools. However, his desire, heart, and work ethic have been questioned for the better part of the last 7 years. He's a "risk" player, IMO.
  16. The biggest problem is that the other teams KNOW that we need to dump payroll - and that Maggs makes a ton of money. Therefore, they will try to snooker us into a bad deal. I would rather keep Maggs and eat his salary than trade him for a bunch of crap that won't improve the club this year, or any subsequent year. If we can't find a suitable and acceptable offer in exchange for Maggs, then I would just tell the interested parties to cram it up their asses sideways.
  17. If the Sox are going to field an inferior team full of crap, maybe we shouldn't hope that the season comes around so fast.
  18. Well, I don't know who we could sign. We have no one in the minors, and I can't find any free agent utility guys except Blum.
  19. I just hope that the Yankees and Red Sox keep spending until their heart's content. That might actually create a domino effect in which Colon finds an unfavorable free-agent market not willing to pay him what he wants. I still think his arm is suspect, but so is Ponson's. Who knows.
  20. If Graffy leaves, I would consider Geoff Blum (formerly of the Houston Astros). He's a pretty good utility player.
  21. I just hope something happens soon. This quiet "lull" going on this offseason is not only frustrating, but painful as well. Chisoxfn, Good luck on your finals. I'm not looking forward to mine, but I'll just study, suck it up, and hopefully come out of it smelling like a rose. I hope you do too.
  22. Barring some miracle, or some really strong dope stuck in the Twins' GM's beverage of choice, we can forget ANY trade between the Sox and Twins. The only way that could happen is if it's a multi-team deal.
  23. I personally like this website because it is full of intelligent White Sox fans who don't give a s*** what the site looks like and just want to talk White Sox baseball, as well as other numerous things. Exactly. I may post a lot of things that people hate, get irritated at, or just plain ignore, but I feel like I'm amongst fellow Sox fans who know their s***. If we were all drinking beer and were in the same room, it would just be a nice knockoff version of a bar scene - which is fine by me.
