And to think that we could have had Fernando Vina for just $3 million a year.

It's not out of the question he'll win 10 to 15 games for LA if he gets offensive support. That team STINKS at run production. They are the worst in baseball, and the worst in about 30 years. They have done nothing to help their offense, and are too strapped for cash to do anything. Weaver will either be sent down to the minors at some point, or he'll be killed. He doesn't have the "great stuff" to shut other team's offenses down, and his team can't score 10 runs in a week. I truly think he'll be horrible record-wise. I wouldn't be surprised to see him at 6-16 for the year, if not worse. But it's nothing a few doobies can't alleviate.

Take Loaiza and have his arm surgically repaired to where he loses 10 MPH off his fastball, and then have him pitch the same speed on every pitch. Then, and only then can you compare Loaiza and Estes. Enough said. Estes SUCKS. He is going downward in his career. Loaiza is good. He is going upward in his career. I hope that is very clear, because I don't want to spend the next hour trying to explain to you the very intricate points of pitching and pitchers. Loaiza - GOOD. Estes - BAD. Is that simple enough?

Yas, I never see Weaver winning more than 14 games a season, and that's with a GOOD offensive club. The Dodgers are more inept at scoring runs than any of his Tiger teams. He'll be lucky to reach double digits in wins on that offensive anti-juggernaut. He couldn't pitch in the fishbowl of New York - wait until the media of "La La Land" gets a hold of him. He's weak mentally, and I don't care how much physical talent he might have, when you're weak mentally, it WILL affect you. But at least he'll have some "West Coast" Weed to smoke to calm him down. If the stupid Dodgers would just trade for Konerko, then they could increase their run support by at least .0000000000004 runs per game.

Yas, Go outside right now. Put your arms out and flap. You have a better chance of flying than Estes does of meaning jack to any team that signs him. Just a thought. Stupid, but a thought nonetheless.

Those same people will b**** in two weeks about Santa Claus having too long of a beard. Some people are born to lead, some are born to sing, some are born to play sports, some are born to spread the word of God, some are born to bear children, some are born to create literature, etc. Those who fail in all other categories are just born to b****. But I guess the world needs a little of everything to keep it diverse and interesting. Too bad.

Never believe Doug Padilla. He wipes once during his morning s***, and the remaining stuff that comes out of his ass becomes his column. Estes should be doing nothing in baseball except sitting in someone's bullpen and coming in to face one weak left-handed hitter every 3 days. Even then I'm sure his ERA would be higher than the elevation of Pike's Peak.

Robbie to be a Cardinal by weeks end...
Pastime replied to Wise Master Buehrle's topic in Pale Hose Talk
For the record, I like Willie Harris, and I actually think that under Ozzie's guidance, he can be a really good player. However, he has to listen and put in a lot of hard work. I just hope he's not one of those "AAAA" players - too good for AAA, but not good enough for the Majors. -
Just a hunch. Kenny has done it in the past and he'll do it again. Whether it will be a good move or not is yet to be seen. That's what scares me. I want us to be part of a big deal, but not if we have to be the team that's taking it up the ass unlubricated.

When it comes to Jerry Reinsdorf, the only talent he looks at is your ability to fit in his joke of a payroll. Thanks, Jerry. :fyou Happy Holidays. -
I still hope the day comes that I'm driving down Lake Shore Drive and Jamie Navarro crosses the street. It will the hardest I've ever slammed my foot down on the gas pedal.

In my opinion, if Weaver had signed with us when we drafted him, Sox brass would have grown tired of his bulls*** and sent him packing within a year or two of his MLB debut. A lot of people used to downplay his crappy win-loss record by chalking it up to the fact that he pitched for the Tigers, but now the world knows the truth - he sucks. He likes to toke the wacky weed, though. Maybe he should quit baseball and sign with the Portland TrailBlazers.

Brown will be hurt for 2/3 of the year, Contreras is overrated, there's no guarantee that Lieber will be the same after the surgery, and Wells is fat and stupid. Sounds like a 2-man rotation to me. That's not that far off of a prediction. Brown has an arm with a lot of mileage on it that's been surgically repaired, Contreras will be figured out eventually, Lieber may now just be a mediocre starter (if his arm is even ready), and Wells will hurt his back bending over to pick up a bottle cap from a Miller Lite.

Capn, No arguments about the salaries. But Hex Rudler (nice original username, dork) tried to say that Harris was a better player than Robbie. No way in hell - even NOW. -
Been there, done that! (Not tonight, though. I have to stay straight or my posts will be more incoherent than usual).

I don't believe anything that Jerry Reinsdorf says. I could be standing in a thunderstorm getting soaked, and if he told me it was raining, I would still think he was lying to my face. I don't trust him as far as I could bowl him.

Robbie to be a Cardinal by weeks end...

As of this very moment, Robbie is twice the fielder Willie is. Robbie is twice the hitter Willie is. Robbie is twice the baserunner Harris is. Not to mention, Alomar has World Series rings, Gold Gloves, All-Star appearances, a few high finishes in the MVP balloting, and will be a first-ballot Hall Of Famer. I seriously doubt that Willie Harris will ever have ANY of that. I hope he does, but I wouldn't bet the ranch on it. The only thing Willie Harris is better at than Robbie Alomar is running speed. He could beat him in a foot race. There ya go!! -
My two favorite team, I'm going to have to find a way to be there. The Expos and Sox are your two favorite teams? You've got the highest threshhold for pain I've ever witnessed.

He's just excited, Josh. The winter meetings bring out the adrenaline in all baseball fans. I think.
-
Too bad for the Cardinals. I feel so bad for them.
-
Considering that Loaiza could walk after this year, I think it's great to have at least ONE starting pitcher we can count on keeping around for a while. But instead of it being looked at for what it is - a POSITIVE for the team, and for MB and his peace of mind - we have some negative nancy's complaining. And these same people would be b****ing if Buehrle had left via free agency in a couple of years.
-
I'll believe it when I see it. Kenny Williams vs. Jon Schuerholtz? Oh please! You might as well have Lennox Lewis face Bill Parcells! Kenny will get fleeced - he always does when he faces another GM with an actual IQ above that of pocket lint.
-
I can almost hear the negotiations now ...... Kenny - "Well, Scott, we want you back. That's why I want to offer you this lucrative offer. I'll pay you 3 million a year. However, I can only offer you a $20 dollar bill for next season. I'll defer all the other money to you until you're 160 years old. After all, we're poor and can't afford but the table scraps of free agents." Scott - "Are you really this stupid, or are you just high on crack?" Kenny - "I don't use crack. I smoke skunkweed, since it's the cheapest. I love the cheapest of everything." Scott - "That's why you want to sign Dave Steib again, isn't it? Kenny - "Oh, I'm sorry, I'm eating 15 White Castles right now and don't know why I'm so hungry."
-
I hope that isn't the reasoning behind this. If it is, then Kenny truly is a cancer. His devastating stupidity kills yet another victim. What a great hire he was. How many division titles have we won under Kenny's regime? How many World Series? The guy is a homeless hobo trying to run a Fortune 500 company - completely overmatched and out of his league. In short - a MORON. And dumbass. Happy holidays.

Actually, I'm a realist. Most people get that confused with a "pessimist." An optimist will see a half-filled glass of water and say that it is "half full." A pessimist will see a half-filled glass of water and say that it is 'half empty." A realist will see a half-filled glass of water and say that it "was either drank from, or the server forget to fill it to the brim."
