Am I the only one frustrated by the lack of ANYTHING happening? I was really stoked two days ago, but not so much anymore. This isn't a pleasure trip, Kenny. Do something newsworthy. Even if it means that you scratched your sack in public. Do SOMETHING. (Sorry. I'm just itching for something to happen and getting antsy).

Robbie to be a Cardinal by weeks end...
Pastime replied to Wise Master Buehrle's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Wow. What insight. Now I know why you are called "poorme." Yes, poor you. And "poor us" if that's all you bring to the table. Suggestion - read Dr. Seuss books, talk to 20 kindergarten kids, and then buy some crayons and a small coloring book. Maybe after that mental stimulation, you can actually post something worthy of being pissed on by my cat. But anyways, Welcome!! -
Unless we get Soriano, or half of some team's roster, I say NO NO NO.

Supposedly, our payroll is already almost capped out, so unless Maddux is willing to take a contract ladened with incentives, I don't think so. Plus, I would hope that we could do at least a little better than a broken-down, end-of-the-road Maddux.

I only hope that he isn't there as Kenny's "chaperone." I also hope that he's not there because he's afraid Kenny will spend money, and he can kill any deals. Reinsdorf should keep his ugly face out of anything related to these meetings. Just the fact that he's there pisses me off. I'm sure Kenny will be eating from Wendy's "99 cents menu," since we all know that Miser Reinsdorf hates to spend money. I'm sure he hates buying toilet paper, so he just wipes his ass with old copies of financial statements. Cheap bastage.
-
Maybe he's there so Kenny can wipe his ass for a few days. Rich people like that kind of stuff. Either that, or Chairman "Liar" Reinsdorf likes his jumbalaya.

Godfather, Our offensive "firepower"? Have you looked at the roster lately? Besides Maggs, Lee, and Thomas, we have THIS as our roster today - a young 3B who goes in spurts, a SS who couldn't find .250 with a map and search party, a 2B who can't break the Mendoza Line, a 1B who is a one-half wonder and fading, a C who might hit .240 if he's lucky and sells his soul to Satan, and a CF who hits rocky cliffs with his shoulder better than he hits a baseball. All that being said, besides Maggs, CLee, and Thomas, do you honestly think that we have great "firepower"? If you do, then I have some really prime oceanfront property in Nebraska to sell you for a penny an acre.

As Danny Glover said in all the "Lethal Weapon" movies: "I'm too old for this s***!"
-
I just finished "finals." I will get 4 B's whether I passed or failed all 4 final exams. And for whoever asked, I am a proud student of Purdue University. I'm a "Boilermaker." A really old, broken-down, exhausted, and tired Boilermaker, but a Boilermaker nonetheless!! Excuse me while I rub liniment on my old 32-year-old bones.

Basically, Indiana should be on central time - the whole state. But businessmen had our whole state be on Eastern time so that the businessmen would be on the same time as Detroit and Cleveland. However, two counties just East of Chicago had to deal with Chicago times, so we got an exemption, if you want to call it that, and we are on Chicago time. We are the only two civilized counties in Indiana, TRUST ME. The rest of the state is overrun with hicks, and 4-toothed people that couldn't spell cat if you spelled them the "C" and "T." Does that make more sense?

Please don't laugh at my back-assward state (Indiana). Basically, we used to observe the Central time zone. However, the businessmen in Indianapolis, South Bend, Fort Wayne, etc. finally convinced the state government (in the 1980's) to take the Eastern time zone as permanent since a lot of them did everyday business in Detroit and Cleveland. I bulls*** you not. However, not all the state could do that, so basically there are 2 counties that rely on Chicago for all our news, times, weather, etc. Only 2 counties in this stupid state (that I know of) observe "Daylight Savings Time." They are the "Lake" county region (my home), and the "Porter" county region (our neighbors - Chicago wannabes). I really got to get the f*** out of here. Needless to say, 95% of our state is in Eastern time, even though it's retarded to have that be the case. The rest of us civilized people with all our teeth are on "Chicago" time. Thank God. Like they say - "after you go through Indiana, set your watch 20 years ahead." I wish I could pack my suitcase right now, and I'm actually contemplating it. I want out!

He needs offense like a heroin addict needs a spoon, liquid, and a syringe. Even with Paul's bad half-season last year, his POTENTIAL is a hell of lot more appealing than what he will trot out at 1B next season unless he wants to try signing Fred McBrokegriff again, or stick Todd Hundley at 1st. He should look at the big picture. Plus, Paul would be back "home." A nice feelgood story. Pull the trigger Evans, or someone might pull the trigger on you!
-
If we dump GIDPaul, then I would suspect Gload the Toad would backup Frank. However, he's just that - a backup. He won't hit much, but he can pick it with the glove. If he could just hit my cat's weight, he would be a nice bench player.

It's 4 AM where I live, and I live 10 miles East of Chicago. I finished the semester at college last night, and I'm not sleepy at all (God bless caffeine), so I'm sitting here with all of you lucky souls.

From what I read in the Sporting News, Reyes didn't want to leave the SS position, but neither did Matsui, and basically, Matsui costs a hell of a lot more, so Reyes was coaxed to move. Either way, they have a keystone combo that I would kill for. Okay, I wouldn't kill for them, but you know what I mean. (You have to be so politically correct nowadays. Tsk tsk tsk).

GLOD? No, that's Paul Konerko, and it's spelled CLOD. You're thinking about Ross Gload, who in about 12 minor-league seasons, has never caught on in the majors. He's basically "Shane Spencer" or "Kevin Maas" minus the power. The guy will never amount to much, trust me on this. He tears up minor-league and winter-league pitching, but he's nothing special. In other words, he's on our 25-man roster next year.

It's going to take a whole helluva lot more than Miguel Batista to help the Blow Jays compete in that division. Whichever team (Yankees or Red Sox) doesn't win the division will for certain be the wild card participant. Gone are the days of baseball that we all grew up on. It's no longer a battle of the best teams (in terms of farm systems and growth). Now it's just a battle of the biggest spenders. I hate what the salary cap has done to football and basketball, but sometimes I wish it would be implemented in baseball. I would love it just so Steinbrenner could have a coronary and drop dead. Stress will get to him eventually. No one is immortal, though he thinks he is. Hey Georgie, :fyou

Izturis hits a lot of balls that would go off the wall or over it in any stadium except Dodger Stadium or Pro Player Stadium. I would LOVE to get him.

If I was a baseball player, I could hurt my wrist patting myself on the back and still collect my $5 million a year while being "disabled" for 3 months. I picked the wrong line of work.
-
Exactly. You trade us your underachiever for our underachiever. We need starting pitching, and they need offense. Perez is as likely to rebound as Kong is, so I see no reason not to like the trade. It is a risk for both teams, but it's a good risk.

I have been on this Earth for 32 years, and I've met very few great minds like mine, so when I do, I'm thankful. I don't feel as alone and isolated anymore. BTW, my Nellie Fox picture doesn't fit the "new" avatar settings, dammit!

Feel better soon, CW. As for those of us who think that Jose is gone (and I want that so bad I can taste it), who exactly will be willing to take on a SS with fading range, an erratic arm, and a pitiful .227 average? Yes, he can hit home runs (usually he gets them in spurts and then doesn't hit one for a month), and he can drive in runs (with those spurting home runs), but other than that, what is his value? I can't believe it's much at this point.
-
Same here.

Even though they have a "strained" past, I don't see why Evans and Williams can't sit down as adults and hammer out some deals. At some point, you have to put aside differences and just realize that you are both businessmen, and that you can help each other. Yes, I know Kenny was made to be a fool with the whole "Barry/Berry" debacle, but that's old news. They want to get rid of Odalis Perez, and we want to get rid of Paul Konerko. They can afford a little extra salary, while we can't. Just get the deal done, guys. Grow up and grow a pair and get the job done. PLEASE.

DB, A local radio station here in Chicago had Dan Evans on Sunday morning, and he made it very clear that unless they get a "oh my God offer," Edwin Jackson isn't going anywhere.
