Brian Anderson
QUOTE (BobDylan @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 02:57 PM) Buuuuut, can he be any better? There's nothing in his history that says so. Even BA can hit a home run every once and awhile. Left-handed bat, and a much needed speed-guy in the lineup. Yeah, he can be better. Just watching his at bats since he's been called up, he just looks like he knows wtf he's doing. He has a plan when he steps into the box. BA looks absolutely mystified every single time

Brian Anderson
QUOTE (BobDylan @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 02:27 PM) Brian Anderson is probably the best defensive center fielder in the game today, is one. Dewayne Wise was born in 1978 and has a career 353 at bats, is two. In the past three years, Dewayne Wise's batting average against RHP is .205 (lower than Anderson), is three. Dewayne Wise's career OBP is .241, is four. If you averaged his career numbers out to predict what he might do in a full year, it'd look like this: 298 AB, 41 R, 8 HR, 29 RBI, 14 BB, 48 SO, 11 SB, .201 BA, .241 OBP, .363 SLG, .604 OPS... is five. Do I have to keep going? Probably the best defensive center fielder in the GAME TODAY? I stopped reading your post after this.

Loss
QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 02:22 PM) LOL LOL if he can't throw his forkball, he isn't effective it's a pretty simple concept, about as simple as your response.

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 02:11 PM) I'll admit it was disgusting watching Anderson swing and miss a hanging slider for strike three, but let's not appoint Wise as his limited successor. Especially in such a limited number of AB's. Wise can't be any worse than what I've seen from BA this year, and he has plus speed over Brian on the basepaths (I'm aware Brian can steal bases, but Wise IS a faster runner). He's also a lefty which helps split up our righties in the lineup. I don't really see any reason to send Wise back down over Brian after Paulie comes back, can anyone else think of one? Besides the cliche' "Brian has nothing left to prove in AAA." He can't hit MLB pitching, so he's not proving anything being up here. Look at his at bats, they're brutal, he looks so confused until he lays into a mistake pitch that's straight as an arrow.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 01:52 PM) Too late now. The "Bronze God" has shown that he's human once again. BS, his ERA is still under 4. a LOT of teams would take a chance with Jose right now.

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 02:07 PM) Funny how Wood's velocity hasn't dropped dramatically, even with surgery and injury issue after issue, yet Jenks' has..... probably some pain involved with Jenks throwing 100mph when you have a pin in your elbow, probably would've shortened his career if he kept up at that rate just my opinion

I'd rather see D-Wise starting games in CF when the option is there for the rest of the year, over BA. Wise is a lefty, plays above average CF defense, is a base stealing threat, and seems to be a lot more intelligent with a bat in his hands, understands counts he's in, etc. BA can't even hit sliders that flatten out over the plate, it's pretty ridiculous. BA for defensive substitutions only, late in games when we have a lead. Otherwise, put D-Wise out there until Paulie comes back and I guess Swish gets back out in CF.

Loss
This is on Jose, no doubt about it. He just doesn't have it and hasn't had it for the last 3-4 starts now. Probably not a coincedence that the weather has heated up around baseball, and the bats are getting a bit looser If Jose sh*ts the bed in his next start, I think we can pretty much stick a fork in him

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 01:57 PM) And a more devastating slider. Well, to be fair, that's a main part of Wood's arsenal, Bobby relies more on control with his FB and a nasty curve Wood relies on a hard slider, a slightly less biting curve than Bobby and high velocity fastballs i guess it's just down to preference

serious question: who'd you rather have right now, Wood or Jenks as your closer? I'm leaning towards Bobby as he's a bit younger and seems to have more pitches, and doesn't have the injury history that Wood does But Wood has a more devastating fastball IMO

this loss is on Jose today, for sure. he's just not any good right now, and can't be relied on no matter who he faces. i'm gonna cringe everytime i see him step to the mound from now on until he starts pitching better

if Jose could've kept the ball in the yard today, we'd probably win this game, it would've been close but a win none the less oh well.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 12:18 AM) So in 34 games this season, you have seen him pitch in 3 games? Because thats how many games he has given up a HR. If thats the case, you really have to room to comment. he's given up 3 homeruns in his last 5 outings. but yeah, that's good. oh, and those games of the last 5 that he's given up the longball, he's given up our lead WITH those homeruns.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 04:15 PM) Sox inabilty to get guys over and the pen just HORRID! i hope ozzie stops giving Dotel a ROLE. seriously. everytime i watch this guy pitch, he gives up a f***ing homerun. I'd rather watch Thornton face a righty than Dotel right now. at least thornton's splits are about the same vs righties and lefties, and he has a lot more velocity behind his pitches

Your first place Chicago White Sox!
I keep telling myself "The twins aren't good" unfortunately, they keep proving me wrong. I no longer think that team isn't any good lost a game in the standings today, and if we lose tomorrow we'll probably lose another one. they seem to be on a roll right now.

White Sox Loser
QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 03:45 PM) Anderson had a real crappy AB earlier in the game where instead of driving a ball high on outside to the right-center gap, he tried pulling it and grounded out to short. Man, that pitch was screaming to go to the right center gap to as it was a nothing pitch. he's just not a smart hitter unlike CQ

White Sox Loser
QUOTE (ChiSox35 @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 03:34 PM) 2/3 from them still can deflate them after that Tampa series, but the nature of this victory (come from behind/walkoff) will negate some of that... Damn, I really wish ANY of our hitters could move runners over. I think Anderson, Swisher, Ramirez, and Quentin had leadoff or 1 out doubles. Pathetic. Dotel may be having a decent season but I get nervous everytime he's put in a big spot with a small lead. He reminds me of another clown from our bullpen's past. I don't really put this on Ozzie as much as I do our "offense". because it seems like all of the hits he gives up are bombs instead of singles

typical way for the cubbies to start things off, a BS dribbler for a base hit. unreal.
