Give Kenny Williams credit
i remember in the offseason when alexei defected, there were a lot of people (in general) saying he was a project that needed time in the minors to adjust during the game yesterday, Hawk made an interesting comment, saying Alexei is probably the most talented player on our entire roster. he said he might not put up the numbers of the other guys but overall talent, he's probably our best player. anyone else buy into that line of thought or do you think Hawk was making an misinformed comment? i found it interesting, i certainly can't argue that alexei isn't full of talent, the dude is just a damn good ball player

Sox' road record
QUOTE (DaveBrown85 @ Jun 9, 2008 -> 01:13 AM) Anyone know how many games they play on the road the second half of the season? 32 of 67 games are on the road in the second half so 35 home/32 road, nearly .500 starting today, we play 15 more games on the road of 32 total games through to July 18th, so we'll be going 17home-15away up to July 18th

6/8 - Sox vs. MIN, 1:05 CT, CSN
btw, our hitting approach ALL game has consisted of one main element (for the most part) guys are going to opposite field if this team has truly started to try and hit the ball where it's pitched, given how teams have scouted us all year (force us to pull pitches on the outerhalf of the plate), this is exactly the same of run production that would occur where a team starts scratching its head after it's scouting report (make hitters pull outside pitches) fails

why not put quentin in RF and give JD the rest of the day off, seriously? put the youthful defenders out there and rest JD's legs, ffs.

White Sox Player/Pitcher of the Month: May
i went with alexei + bullpen, no reason needed for pen but as far as alexei goes, i feel given his lack of experience at this level, his performance has been remarkable

6/5 - Sox vs. KC, 7:11 CT, CSN
just give alexei the starting 2B job for the rest of 2008, seriously. this should be a no brainer at this point, even if he slumps for a decent period of time, he's just flat out better than Uribe, and his range is unbelievable

6/5 - Sox vs. KC, 7:11 CT, CSN
should do well tomorrow, knock on wood (my money is always on the count in 2008) lets sweep tomorrow then take at least 3 of 4 from the twins and start building a substantial lead in the ALC

Just in Case
imo we have the best pitching staff in baseball, in terms of ERA & least homeruns allowed (a stat that isn't weighed as much as I believe it should be) you could make a case for toronto and oakland but I think our staff is better, albeit slightly

6/4 - Sox vs. KC, 7:11 CT, CSN

Alexei full-time at second base?
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 2, 2008 -> 12:34 PM) He played in a league that is equivalent to high A, or a poor AA. He is learning on the job, and doing a damn fine job of it. He is signed for four years. He still could be considered a prospect. Steve Stone strongly disagrees with you. He compared Alexei's previous league to a step between AAA & MLB level, yesterday.

Changes coming by Tuesday?
QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 04:12 PM) Guillen has enough after loss By Mark Gonzales - 3:47 p.m. ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - After watching his underachieving offense go 2-for-14 in a 4-3 loss at Tampa Bay, manager Ozzie Guillen promised some changes to his White Sox roster. "Just be ready because I expect movement Tuesday," Guillen said. "I expect Kenny to do something Tuesday, and if we don’t do anything Tuesday, there are going to be a lot of lineup changes. That’s all I’m going to say about the offense. "It can be me. It can be (hitting coach) Greg Walker. It can be the players. It could be anybody. I’m sick and tired to watch this thing for a year and a half. I’m not protecting anybody anymore. (Bleep) it. "If they can’t get it done, Kenny should find someone to get it done. That’s it." link http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune....en-has-eno.html ok i said in the next 10-20 days, i didnt expect the next 2 days. lol

Greg Walker Poll
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 03:59 PM) Couldn't agree more, Walker is like a family member to guys like Crede, Thome, Dye, PK, Uribe, and AJP. However, that might be the problem. Maybe they need a different point of view and a different type of r'ship with the hitting coach. i will say, you make an interesting point

Negative Catch All ~ House of Blues
i think we will see changes sooner rather than later, i just have a hunch probably within the next 10-20 days would be my guess, KW wants to win, he has a hardcore winners attitude and is very proactive, he sees our pitching and he'll do anything he can to tweak this ballclub

Greg Walker Poll
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 03:53 PM) The question(s) I have for people who don't think Walker should be fired is this: Should a hitting coach EVER be fired? Is one even needed? Because it's never really just the hitting coaches fault if you can't hit, but Greg Walker has done about as much as a hitting coach can to show he should be fired since the second half of 2006. If you think Walker shouldn't be fired, I can't only assume you think hitting coaches just shouldn't be fired because it's not their fault, and thus they shouldn't even exist because they aren't needed. Although to be honest, I'd have a really hard time arguing that point of view. so you're arguement is, if a hitting coach doesn't do anything, they're not needed. so fire walker because he doesn't serve a purpose on the team. just make sure you don't replace him with anyone, because hitting coaches don't really do anything. now, for my opinion on the matter, I think walker brings a more family-type aspect to the team, the guys are very close to him, and as much as it might seem (to many of you guys) that walker being fired would somehow change the team and ultimately cause them to start hitting (which i find unrealistic, but that's just me), i think the ramifications of canning a guy that's so close to his players might send the wrong idea i could be 100% wrong here, but that's the way i see it right now
