  1. How could anyone have ever predicted that a high-school right-hander from a cold weather climate that was throwing a knuckle curve seemingly since birth would be an injury risk?
  2. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 09:38 AM) Oakland loves the White Sox farm system. They could conceivably roll three guys out of the bullpen next season that were, or should have been, in Birmingham in '07. Wing is a California guy right? A move to the West Coast is certainly an improvement for him then.
  3. From today's USA Today: OAKLAND ATHLETICS-Assigned LHP Jay Marshall outright to Sacramento (PCL). Agreed to terms with LHP Ryan Wing on minor league contract.
  4. I don't think this warrants its own thread, so I assume this is the proper place to put it since we've talked about prospect rankings, but Aaron Cunningham was named the #7 prospect in the Arizona system by Baseball America.
  5. QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 09:35 AM) who else did we just lose, I only heard White Sox org at the end? I'm guessing you're referring to Garry Bakker. Gone to the Mets in the AAA portion.
  6. QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 09:24 AM) Goodbye Ray Liotta. And Ryan Rodriguez.
  7. Hernandez is gone. To Oakland. First Marshall, now Fernie. Billy Beane knows the Sox system better than KW
  8. Are there any real first basemen left in the system at this point?
  9. The Sox have reportedly traded Chris Carter to the Diamondbacks for Carlos Quentin. Discuss.
  10. QUOTE(BearSox @ Nov 30, 2007 -> 06:34 PM) how sure of that are you? On a scale of one to ten, with seven being the highest, I'm about a green. I'm completely sure. Unless he recently started switch-hitting. Like, since the end of the season.
  11. QUOTE(BearSox @ Nov 29, 2007 -> 11:37 PM) I have a question... is he a righty or a switch hitter? I've seen sites contradicting each other. Right-handed.
  12. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 29, 2007 -> 10:57 AM) When I look at our roster...if we could clear a spot on the 40 man to pick up a guy, I can certainly see us having room for a doubles hitting Right Handed OF with decent speed. It'd be an excellent guy to stick into a quasi-platoon with Owens and to give Dye/whoever else we get some extra rest. In 2006 this kid stole 39 bases between single and double A. That sounds an awful lot like the kind of guy we might want. Barton's intriguing, and an odd story. It's not often that you see a guy go undrafted out of a powerhouse like Miami and then rake (even at an advanced age) in High-A and Double-A. Teams were scared off by an internship that he had lined up at Boeing thanks to his aeronautical engineering studies in college. Cleveland went after him and signed him cheap as a FA. He can play. I can't comment on his desire this past season, but he can play a bit.
  13. QUOTE(buckweaver @ Nov 28, 2007 -> 09:56 AM) Perhaps they just listed all prospects alphabetically.
  14. Minor League Baseball.com is unveiling their Top 50 Prospect list over the course of five days, with ten prospects per day. Today, the first (and probably only) White Sox farmhand appeared on the list, as Gio Gonzalez checked in at #24, sandwiched between Arizona's Carlos Gonzalez (23) and Texas' Eric Hurley (25). Here's what they said about Gonzalez: http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/ne...&pid=461829
  15. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 21, 2007 -> 01:00 PM) Where did you get those numbers? I've been looking for a reliable place to find those stats for some time. I've got a friend that works for an Eastern League club, and he was nice enough to share his log-in information to the official Minor League Baseball stats site.
