  1. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Apr 29, 2017 -> 03:32 PM) MONCADA ALERT FROM RIGHT SIDE flies out to the warning track in right
  2. Avi and MVP both have 3 letters, in case anyone was curious.
  3. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Apr 29, 2017 -> 03:28 PM) Batting average and RBI don't really matter. It wasn't good that he couldn't stay healthy but that doesn't mean he was garbage. Garbage might be a bit strong. "Non-entity" might be a better description.
  4. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Apr 29, 2017 -> 03:18 PM) Not really. 104 wRC+, 1.1 WAR. Only played 57 games, hit .213, 11 RBI all of last year. He was certainly part of the reason we weren't any good, even if his health was the major factor. We shouldn't have thought we could rely on him to stay healthy, but under 60 games is bad.
  5. Remember when Avila was garbage for us? Fun times.
  6. QUOTE (Tony @ Apr 29, 2017 -> 02:56 PM) Love it. Believe it or not, Sox baseball and Impractical Jokers have both helped. Baseball was always a connection between my dad and I. IJ is just on TV all the time and both my mom and I can laugh at it (my dad hated that show) and it kind of helps distract and do something normal. I'm not saying the Sox doing well helps a ton, but it does give me one of the first things I can enjoy in a while, and for as long as I can I would like to.
  7. So, a bullpen with Robertson, Jones, (healthy) Putnam, (healthy) Petricka, Swarzak, Kahnle and Jennings with Ynoa in mopup time suddenly seems somewhat competent.
  8. Tommy Kahnle, 100 MPH throwing effective setup man would be something that would be nice.
  9. QUOTE (Tony @ Apr 29, 2017 -> 02:47 PM) No one should tell anyone else how to be a fan. We should all enjoy it for what it is. Do I think they'll be .500 on June 15th? No, and that's one of the reasons baseball is great. With a season of 162 games everything usually falls where it's supposed to, you can't be lucky for that long. But it's fun to watch right now. And, no lie, after my dad passed it's giving me something to take my mind off things. One of the last things we did together was go to Spring Training together (he was a Dodger fan) and baseball will always be one of our connections. So despite however this year is supposed to go, seeing them play well has provided me a little lift and something to enjoy when I've been feeling down.
  10. Todd gets beaned first pitch, that one's gonna leave a bruise.

Charlotte will play 2, starting at 3-ish CT. Volstad pitching in one game and possibly Lopez in the other. Second game begins a half hour after the first ends. Birmingham at 6:35 CT, Spencer Adams pitching. WS at 5 CT, Zach Thompson pitching. Kanny at 3 CT, Solorzano pitching. Charlotte and BHam on MILB.TV.
  12. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Apr 29, 2017 -> 02:37 PM) Is Swarzak the Albers of 2016? Hard to believe this is all for real after what happened last year. I think Swarzak's might be a tad more sustainable. Added 2 MPH to his fastball and not walking anybody. I don't expect the walks to stay quite so low, but he doesn't exactly look like it's been all luck either.
  13. Jose with a very well timed insurance run!
  14. Ha, what exactly was Jose doing in the dugout?
  15. Omar Narvaez being a competent catcher would be just fantastic.
