  1. QUOTE (Mattchoo @ Jan 7, 2017 -> 07:37 AM) if Houston had any need for Frazier or Robertson, I'd include them with Q to get both Tucker and Bregman as the headliners. You're a funny funny man... man.
  2. I don't know about you all but I sure am glad we have James Shields.
  3. Hahn has shown in his short GM caeer that he's willing to hold onto assets and isn't trigger happy like Kdub.
  4. QUOTE (Baron @ Jan 6, 2017 -> 05:40 PM) Who the hell is Sean Sears? Some writer for some website appropriately titled Sports Mockery.
  5. Morosi saying the same thing with different words sequenced together.
  6. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jan 3, 2017 -> 10:08 PM) If only they made a Hawk Harrelson brand popsicle. It would be a nice summer treat for his detractors to suck on. At least they could enjoy his sweet flavors a different way. For the win.
  7. QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 3, 2017 -> 07:29 PM) Tomorrow is Wednesday. Enough with rumors. +1
  8. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 3, 2017 -> 05:02 PM) https://twitter.com/ChuckGarfien Listening to Sox Podcast with Chuck Garfein, Ryan Mcguffey, and Chris Kamka. Chuck said he KNOWS that the Astros, Pirates, and Braves have made offers for Q. Berry interesting
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 3, 2017 -> 08:14 AM) After the Sox trade Q and Robertson and Frazier or Melky, it's going to be really hard to be a White Sox fan. The team will absolutely suck, and next offseason there will be very little action. They will not have much to trade. They won't be signing big names. I'm looking forward to discovering an even lower level of suckatude
  10. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Jan 2, 2017 -> 06:00 PM) So what is everyone's preferred REALISTIC trade offer? I'm going to go with Yankees and Frazier, Kaprielian, Andujuar, + lotto ticket A baller... We don't know what's realistic... case in point: the sale thread before the deal went down. Case in point: the Eaton thread before the deal went down.
  11. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 2, 2017 -> 08:34 AM) I appreciate the kind words about the podcast towards Rob and I. We plan to record every other week during the season and we'll record as needed during the offseason. If I could speak for Rob, the kind words and support from here and other places are humbling and motivate us to put together a better product. However, I was "producing" this one and I am nothing near an audio engineer but I will figure out how to improve the audio quality moving forward as I was not totally happy with what we got in the first one. As for hi8us's comment about Merkin, I am going to assume he was being facetious, hah. If not, I do know Scott and he is 50 and entirely content with his job. I have no requisite experience to do that job and I couldn't ever do what Merk does. A lot of people think I am trying to get a job with the Sox but that's simply not the case. Anyone who works with or around the Sox understands they don't hire Sox fans for media positions and I am not even qualified to work in media anyways. Take a look at all the people they have hired for positions to speak with fans: Rongey (Cards fan growing up), Merkin (Cubs fan growing up), Hayes (A's/Giants fan growing up) and McKnight (Cubs fan). The one exception would be Garfien. I love writing for FS though and it never gets old when you're writing for a site that has grown and always expanded during the duration of my time there. That's only going to continue too. I was being serious ( somewhat ) - for once Intentional or not, you'd be a great asset to the Sox publishing arm - should that ever become an ambition.
  12. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Jan 1, 2017 -> 12:20 AM) Theres no doubt the Padres have everyone beat in the tankforbeer sweepstakes. They will be historically bad. I'll gladly take the number 2 pick with open arms. Who knows what's gonna happen in 2017.
  13. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Dec 31, 2016 -> 10:39 PM) Fans might say they are patient for a rebuild, but that patience might evaporate if this team becomes the laughing stock in Chicago while the Cubs keep killing it. In such a case, hopefully fans will oscillate back once we pick someone like Seth Beer in 2018.
  14. QUOTE (ventura_abreu @ Dec 31, 2016 -> 04:12 PM) Will we end up keeping Quintana... Looking more likely by the day. QUOTE (ventura_abreu @ Dec 31, 2016 -> 04:12 PM) ...but end up trading the veterans Frazier... They're probably hoping to trade him at the deadline. QUOTE (ventura_abreu @ Dec 31, 2016 -> 04:12 PM) ...Abreu... I doubt it now with the Moncada connection and the saturated 1B market.... coupled with Jose's value being down. Abreu isn't likely to go anywhere for all of 2017 IMO. QUOTE (ventura_abreu @ Dec 31, 2016 -> 04:12 PM) ...Robertson... They probably want to trade him now but are content having him build value and will look to trade him to a contender at the deadline ala Chapman / Miller last year. QUOTE (ventura_abreu @ Dec 31, 2016 -> 04:12 PM) Mark Polishuk on MLB Rumors says teams are calling and kicking the tires on Frazier and Abreu. Will we end up keeping Quintana but end up trading the veterans Frazier, Abreu, and Robertson? poop.
  15. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 30, 2016 -> 06:47 PM) Which trade would you accept for Q? Do the other teams accept these deals? Q to the Yankees for Frazier, Rutherford, Kaplielian, and Sands Q to the Braves for Albies, Maitian, Soroka, and Toussaint Q to the Astros for Martes, Tucker, Fisher, and Stubbs Q to the Pirates for Glasnow, Bell, Diaz, and Escobar Yankees trade, yes and yes. Braves trade, yes and no Astros trade, yes and no Pirates trade, yes and yes
  16. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 30, 2016 -> 12:39 PM) So what are your thoughts on #2? Yea, on second thought that's a good idea too. Hell, I already started my man-cave project - so, cool... better than option 8.
  17. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 30, 2016 -> 12:22 PM) While this is true, I think the Sox are motivated to move him now. Between now and spring training, and perhaps during spring training, they'll find a deal. I don't think he's here at Soxfest though. Hope you're right, buddy. Time to pick up a copy of "War and Peace". Think it's time to read a book while we wait.
  18. QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 30, 2016 -> 12:14 PM) I agree. And I'm ok with it. Yep. If he remains healthy and productive, he's just as valuable IMO as a trade piece in 2017 and 2018. Even two years of Q would bring in a haul.
  19. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 30, 2016 -> 12:15 PM) You're gonna poop when he's traded in the next couple hours. You tease, you. Edit: better start my man-cave project while listening to My Heart Will Go On
  20. I'm beginning to think he's a member of the 2017 White Sox. If I'm starting to think it - maybe opposing GM's are as well... which could be just what hahn wants. In a rebuilding Hahn and Hostetler I trust.
  21. This article is poop. It's only potential redemption is #3... and it doesn't even work on my iPhone... that said, I'm very glad I took the effort to play that video on my computer, where it works. Amazing.
  22. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Dec 29, 2016 -> 09:44 PM) just enough offense to score 3 or 4 runs with some regularity
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 29, 2016 -> 05:06 PM) http://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/dail...0904-story.html According to this, Scott Merkin should be around 51-52 years old. In that position, dream job, I think he'd stay as long as he possibly could. Especially to wait out the fruits of this rebuilding process which should have been started after 2012/13 but was deferred. Maybe I should have been more specific and stated, "when Merkin retires in 20 or so years..."
