    QUOTE (steveno89 @ Apr 4, 2017 -> 09:14 AM) Beer's bat looks great, but I don't like hearing scouts questioning his ability to stick in the outfield If he is a 1B/DH player only his value will take a bit time hit, even with a great bat. Doubtful he goes #1 or even #2 overall I know he wasn't a 1/1 pick but that Frank Thomas guy who was a 1B / DH type sure was a questionable draft choice because of his positional value. Should have taken Ben McDonald or Jeff Jackson, if only they would have been available at our pick that year.
  3. QUOTE (kev211 @ Apr 3, 2017 -> 01:56 PM) Nevermind it was just for the first pitch. Retarded, part 3.
  4. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 3, 2017 -> 01:50 PM) Jacob May is 32... Bad choice. Adam Dunn curse looms.
  5. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 3, 2017 -> 01:48 PM) Shouldn't it be blacked out if you're trying to watch locally? I'm in California
  6. Sucks that MLB.tv doesn't have the intros showing.
  7. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 3, 2017 -> 01:37 PM) I imagine that the fans at the park are a little more interested in seeing the game than the ceremonies, but what do I know. If you're going to pick one, I would pick "try and play the game". I imagine it's about contracts they have with sponsors participating in the opening ceremonies - no ceremony = no money from sponsor. That's the only reason I can come up with.
  8. QUOTE (Moncada @ Apr 3, 2017 -> 01:29 PM) White Sox UPDATE: Pregame ceremonies to begin at 3:30 pm (CT), game is NOT expected to begin after. Still no start time as of now. (1/2) Retarded, part two.
  9. QUOTE (Scoots @ Apr 3, 2017 -> 01:29 PM) Listening to 890, they say pre-game ceremonies will take place, no timeframe yet on first pitch. Retarded.
  10. Looks like the rain in the forecast to begin in about an hour and a half is light. Projected at 0.06 inches per hour.
  11. QUOTE (kev211 @ Apr 3, 2017 -> 01:17 PM) It's barely even drizzling here and has been since 2 pm. Absolute joke this game hasn't started. And they have a window to play it in. If they were not willing to play in this they should've called it at 8am. Thanks for the update
  12. 3:14 rain stoppage according to accuweather! Edit: rain stopped and resumes in 101 minutes now according to them.
  13. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 3, 2017 -> 01:03 PM) Guaranteed Rain Field.
  14. QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Apr 3, 2017 -> 12:58 PM) They aren't saying anything here at the park. Getting kind of pissed with the lack of information. Reminds me of the 2nd game last season when the upper deck was iced over and they delayed entry to the park without letting anyone know why. Starting to come down pretty good again. Accuweather now predicts the rain to stop in 3 minutes Edit: now 9 minutes. Conclusion: accuweather is not exactly accurate.
  15. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 3, 2017 -> 12:50 PM) Delayed. No pregame ceremonies either BOOOOOOOO!! In the bright side it looks from the radar as if it's gonna just be a light 15 minute or so delay with a 2 hour window following with no rain. We'all see how accurate accuweather is Edit: Here's the link to see their real time for casting for the Cell's address... http://m.accuweather.com/en/us/chicago-il/...forecast/348308

    QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 3, 2017 -> 10:33 AM) There shouldn't be much to be conflicted about. We should all want Quintana, Robertson, Jones, Frazier, & Melky to do well in order to maximize their trade value. That's more important than getting a high pick IMO. Having said that, there is more than enough filler on this roster to help pile up the losses. We're going to lose a ton of games started by Gonzalez, Shields, Holland, & Covey, because our offense & defense is simply not good enough to offset their below average production. We can thank the fringe major leaguers on the roster like Davidson, Asche, May, Navarez, & Avi for that. If even one of those guys can develop into something for us that's a win, but the likely outcome is they will all suck contribute to a high pick. And let's not forget that a lot of the young, legit prospects we call up will struggle at first. Growing pains will also help the cause. So my advice for everyone is not to worry much about wins &nlosses as things will work themselves out and the ultimate result should be positive for the rebuild. +1 There's a lot of ways this season can go "right" that are highly probable.

    QUOTE (coco1997 @ Apr 3, 2017 -> 08:08 AM) To use as a cover photo. I'll credit you if you'd like. For your personal Facebook cover? I didn't save the PSD but you're welcome to use the flat file yourself and hack it up to reconfigure it to the cover size.

    QUOTE (coco1997 @ Apr 3, 2017 -> 07:50 AM) Can we get a version of that #TankForBeer banner in Facebook cover photo dimensions? What for, good Sir?
  19. So far I've only heard of two private work outs scheduled for him... one with us and one with the Astros, who have already exceeded their signing pool.

    QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Apr 2, 2017 -> 06:06 PM) Same. Outwardly rooting for losses is fu**ing lame. I hope the Sox get off to a hot start, and even if they do, I won't expect the FO to change their direction, nor should they. But I never root for my teams to lose. If they end up with a top 5 pick, so be it, I know it's part of the process, but I'd prefer to see our young players take large steps forward and our veterans rake while they're here. One in the hand... I still don't think this team (with Rodon) is as bad as most here want them to be, but I guess we'll see soon enough. For me personally - I suspect we won't be competitive until 2019 or 2020. "Tank for Beer" is more about setting low expectations and getting the stomach ready for some bad teams. My guess for this teams record is also not as bad as most, I've pegged them for somewhere around 72 to 76 wins as currently constructed. When it's mid season and we've had more roster changes - that total could easily fall. The only benefit to losing will be our draft position and this is my way to stay sane during losing. There's some psychological term for it... which escapes me right now... cognitive dissonance isn't exactly it but it's something like that. It's when you talk yourself into enjoying or wanting something that you really don't want. My brain is like spaghetti - as I've just dealt with a sleep resistant 3 year old for two hours. So... yeah... I'll stop talking.
