  1. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jan 16, 2012 -> 09:59 PM) He said we're in for a surprise this year, that what we saw in September was what we can expect to see next season. Very nice - go Morel!
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 15, 2012 -> 11:36 PM) What about trading Gavin Floyd and signing Roy Oswalt on a one-year deal for $8 million? That would be basically revenue neutral...excise $9.5 million more for the 2013 budget and bring in another name pitcher to go with Peavy who could actually help boost or bolster attendance a bit. He snaps back and they've got a VERY valuable trade chip at midseason who can be parlayed into additional prospects, with Castro/Stewart/Molina/Axelrod/Santiago joining the big league rotation at the time of the trade. Makes a lot of sense indeed.

Ozzie sticking his tongue out at me during the last game of the first home series vs. the A's. I'm glad he's gone.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 15, 2012 -> 05:53 PM) You couldn't be more wrong. The guy had an injury that no one has ever returned from and pitched again at the MLB level. He worked his a@# off to get back. I don't know if he'll ever be an effective pitcher again but you cannot fault how hard he worked to get back. You can rip on the results but not the effort. Amen to that. You are a good guy Dave - thanks again for the advise about the break. Here's to Peavy having success this year ( hopefully )
  5. QUOTE (103 mph screwball @ Jan 15, 2012 -> 06:14 PM) Big Jim thinks Dunn is not done. He also thinks Beckham will thrive under Ventura. I agree. Such a class act and pungent statement directly to Dunn. Hope it hits home if he's reading.
  6. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 06:20 PM) +1 cool dude SERIOUSLY! Where'd he go and why?
  7. QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Jan 12, 2012 -> 06:07 PM) I'm starting to agree. Get the young kid that you can groom. Yup! That's what I'm beginning to think as well... but being the greedy baseball fan I am - I want both.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 4, 2012 -> 11:04 PM) They're much, much, much smarter and cheaper ways of acquiring OF depth. I can appreciate everybody wants Rios, Dunn and Peavy gone. But coming up with these ridiculous scenarios (not just you hi8is) that make no sense at all for the non-White Sox side is not going to make the impossible possible. it's still fun to sit here in January - broken hand and all - just chillin and thinkin of some wild possibilities. Give me Feb. 26th / March games please.
  9. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 4, 2012 -> 10:22 PM) No chance, now that they got Latos. Would be an interesting move though. You'd have to figure KW would definitely get Cespedes then. I'd imagine the Red's would enjoy adding Floyd to Latos. They're also looking for outfield depth.
  10. Would the Reds take on 2/3rds of Rios if it meant getting Floyd for 2 B level pitching prospects?
  11. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jan 3, 2012 -> 08:08 AM) DeAza is going nowhere even if they sign Cespedes. Yup - I should have clarified that I meant adios DeAza in terms of starting. It's kinda a pain in the ass to only have 1 typing hand.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 3, 2012 -> 04:23 AM) The guy is at least 26 years old. If a team gives him the money they are talking about, its to play in the major leagues, and the Sox owe Rios close to $40 million. No way they release him. If we get Cespedes - it'll mean an outfield of Cespedes - Rios - Tank They'd say adios to DeAza if they signed Cespedes.
  13. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jan 1, 2012 -> 08:09 PM) I'd like to think we all are...... But of course I just really enjoy watching KW pick up reclamation projects for Cooper... for me that interest started with Loiza back in what... '03? Can pitchers and catchers report already or do we really have to wait 7 more weeks
  14. I'm hoping Simon Castro pans out.
  15. Does anyone have a link to a video of Q and his hand injury of '08?
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 31, 2011 -> 03:51 PM) Viciedo had an injured hand last year. I broke my right hand 2 weeks ago - gives me a new found respect for the implications player injuries of the like have on the field.
  17. Q: Love ya brotha - mash in SD. Get paid in '13.

  21. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 27, 2011 -> 06:18 PM) Cowley: @Oneyguillen @espnchijon ... who is not on there? I'm going to guess his bottom 3 he managed were Swish, C. Lee and Dunn. Oney: @cst_Cowley don't think c lee was on there to be honest for sure swish I think. Dunn it wasn't personal Not sure if that brings any insight to this conversation but I guess Oz and Dunn weren't best buddies. It says it wasn't personal.
  22. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Dec 27, 2011 -> 11:58 PM) Oh, and DIRT cheap for a while. Once Peavy is off the books our rotation will cost like 20-25 Million for a few years. That leaves the rest to spend on an offense. It's not so bad looking forward...if Molina, Sale and Humber work out. I understand that's a big time IF but so is everything in this silly game we love more than our families. Thanks for the perspective - it gives me more hope than I was having over the past couple weeks. I want Cespedes. Fu*k Rios. Thou, I also agree with Detroit being in a better situation than us.
  23. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Dec 27, 2011 -> 11:16 PM) I stopped when you suggested Humber could or would put up a 1.00 WHIP next year. If any of you recall, it was me (and maybe J4L?) who were the ONLY two people who welcomed and thought he would be a decent pitcher for us, and I STILL am not that optimistic about Humber. I think he is due for a regression, and AT BEST, he repeats his very solid 2010 proformance. I think J4L or Milkman where not to up on Humber and actually really trashed him last year before the season started. Having him as a #5 was completely unacceptable to them if I recall correctly. Giving Humber a chance last season and being optimistic about him was one thing I did call right last year. Another was Thornton pissing the bed. Beckham and Dunn where completely out of left field to me. I missed those two.
  24. If I didn't know you all better - I'd think something like: Calm it down ladies.
