  1. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 07:22 PM) Really? That defense works because of Briggs. How about it works because of both of them, this is not zero sum. Take either one of them out and you see glaring weaknesses. Take out the SAM, not so much, you see dropoff but it's nto crippling.
  2. Yeah me either. I heard that earlier today but didn't have a source so I didn't mention it. Also, LOL at people who I was arguing with earlier today talking about a time when they hurt their knee in H.S. football or playing softball or whatever and trying to claim with a straight face that it's the same, and they are doing something Cutler couldn't or wouldn't do. I kinda doubt any of them had to play against Clay Matthews.
  3. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 07:10 PM) I don't think as many people love Urlacher as much as you think. The media loves him. Why, I am not sure. As Lost mentions, every story that comes out about him paints him as a complete jerk, and these have been coming since the whole Paris Hilton thing. That said, I like him as a player, I think he had a solid year this year, but I think he is indeed overrated. I think most big Bears fans know it is Briggs that is the heart of our defense. You only have to show me the total collapse of the defense in 2009 to tell me that Urlacher isn't overrated.
  4. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 07:07 PM) One only need to look as far as the first comment below the article to get a sense of how people feel, unfortunately. That's pretty funny because Cutler never talks s*** about opposing QBs, actually never talks s*** about anything at all. That's just a manufactured image in peoples heads.
  5. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 07:03 PM) Then why do people still love Urlacher? Almost every Bears fan I know loves the guy, but everyone I know who has met him despise him because he comes off as an unwelcoming dbag and thinks he's better than us normal humans. Yet, people love him. To me, it never made sense to hate someone or love someone because everyone else does. Form your own opinion based on what you know. If you hate a team, hate them for your own reasons. If you like a team, do it for your own reasons. The same go for players or anything else in life. Too many Indians, and not enough Chiefs. Urlacher is a meathead. I love him as a player and I love his attitude on the field but everything I hear about him as a person says he's pretty much a dick. That said I do not care in any way about players' personalities.
  6. Philip Rivers sides with Cutler. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d81de...iticized-cutler
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 06:54 PM) How did Fox not show Collins or Hanie warming up once on their telecast? If it wasn't from being on soxtalk seeing some tweets and what was said on radio, I would have never even known it was possible Cutler was done. Fox didn't show Cutler going over plays with Hanie or trying to calm him down either, they only showed him standing on the sidelines by himself looking despondent.
  8. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 06:52 PM) Honestly, you can probably excuse some of that. It was an emotional game. We all wanted that f***ing win, man. I know I wanted it. I was literally nervous all day long and just couldn't believe we lost Cutler. We were told it was "questionable" whether he'd come back into the game, and really, watching good old #10 stroll out there was simply crushing. The game was over and the 2nd half had just begun. I excuse the over-reaction at that exact moment, but as Cutler didn't come back in, you knew it was serious. For about an hour I did let my inner meathead overtake my rational thought and I was talking s***.
  9. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 06:42 PM) How did he not represent the organization well? He had every opportunity to go at his critics in the postgame interview and he simply responded no comment when I'm sure he wanted to go at everyone. Your leaders on the team don't even question the guy's toughness. I do agree that he needs to be at least a fake rah rah guy to get the guys fired up. He and Urlacher don't even really get along on a personal level and Urlacher was pretty pissed off, offended even, that it was even a topic. Kreutz is pretty much the leader of the offense and he said people were being "f***ing stupid."
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 06:40 PM) I don't think many people really questioned whether or not he was hurt, and since I have never sprained my MCL, I couldn't tell you the pain level. But you have to admit, there are many QBs over the years in that same situation that wouldn't have come out of the game, and if Lovie insisted they still would have put up a big fight considering the magnitude of the game etc. It may be the biggest game Jay Cutler ever plays in. If he can't go he can't go. He didn't exactly looked handicapped his last series. But you are right, if Peyton Manning sat out under the same circumstance, no one would question him, but in a way Cutler has only himself to blame for being a guy who would be questioned. Being a douchebag sometimes costs you. pretty much my whole Facebook friends list that was watching the game between about 4:30 and 7 pm EST did this.
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 06:34 PM) I know you liked my facebook. It was completely dedicated to Cutler today, haha. Yeah mine too. lol. I wasn't in the best mood this morning either (I wore a black suit, black shirt, and black tie to work, mourning) and wasn't trying to hear all the trash talk so I ended up having to unfriend a couple of meatballs but I spent a good part of today pushing against bulls***.
  12. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 06:30 PM) I agree. I've seen several people on there posting their images of throwing away their Cutler jersey or burning it. Boys and girls. I shook my head and just said, "Bears fans don't deserve a franchise QB". There started to be a backlash against that later in the day. I haven't read all this thread to say, but once people started seeing details about a possible MCL tear and what it actually meant people started to straighten up, and a lot of others just doubled down saying the Bears were faking it and covering up for him etc.
  13. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 06:21 PM) When it comes down to it, this is exactly what happened. People are just frustrated because as bad as the Bears offense played, the game was really there for the taking against a better team and they still managed to screw some things up to lose it. Agreed. Hanie did a respectable job too but it just wasn't enough.
  14. People are just predisposed to not liking Cutler. So many people were just waiting for something like this to happen so they can unload. Reading comments, my Facebook news feed, etc. really convinced me of that. I did start to notice the tide moving in the other direction when it started to come out that he was really hurt, though.
  15. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 04:45 PM) I maintain this was all Lovie and his penchant for hiding the truth about injuries to "fool" the opposing team. Now that they're getting serious backlash because of it, they're pretending they did nothing wrong, as they usually do. If Lovie had properly reported this injury from the start, instead of trying to play psychological warfare with the Packers (which never works anyway), none of this would be happening right now. I really think the Bears handled this poorly. Had they just said during the game "we believe he's torn a ligament based on our evaluations and he can't come back in the game" everybody would've known what was going on. But they told the commentators that his return was "questionable" which sounds like he could've come back in if he wanted to. In reality he tried and could barely move.
  16. It wasn't him alone, had someone made an objection he would've re-opened it. That very well might happen, who knows. But really the topic had gone on for 50+ pages and wasn't really going in any kind of positive direction.
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 08:29 AM) I get that...now, but you can't tell me when fox was saying it was questionable he'd return that you didn't think he took himself out. The bears were stupid for how they handled it. I saw him limping. I was pissed at him at the time because he was failing, granted against Green Bay, but it never occurred to me that he "quit." He's never done anything like that in his career.
  18. QUOTE (ChiTown @ Jan 23, 2011 -> 11:28 PM) I was referencing another account. Not my fault nobody can handle a little Bears-Packers trash talking. You got suspended, not banned (I forget which mod did it but the suspension should've ended by now). It wasn't the trash talking, it was the way you were name-calling. That will get you suspended every time.
  19. God sometimes it's really f***ing embarrassing to be a Bears fan. Seriously. I'm mad about Cutler's actual performance in the game. It was complete and utter s***. All these armchair athletes calling Cutler a p**** though from their couch while the dude could barely walk or plant his foot for a throw... ugh. Disgusting.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 23, 2011 -> 06:26 PM) I don't think Cutler has any idea about the crap he's about to catch in this city. I'm a huge Cutler supporter, but that is a mortal sin. It wouldn't have been so bad if he wasn't standing and walking.
  21. If you think Cutler is playing bad, here is your measuring stick for what a real bad quarterback looks like.
  22. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jan 23, 2011 -> 04:48 PM) Rex didn't looK this bad back in 06...DON'T GO THERE!! LOL For anyone that cant tell the difference between Cutler and Grossman I just feel sorry for them.
  23. None of the receivers are getting open, and Cutler has to be perfect to compensate but he's all over the place.
