He was going for his fourth straight gold medal, and is one of the best athletes to ever live, regardless of sport. He was a machine; bigger, tougher, stronger than Ivan Drago from Rocky IV (if that was real life). He did not suffer a defeat in nine consecutive world championships (from '89 to '99, meaning he didn't lose one single match). He had previously defeated Gardner at the WC's 5-0 in '98.
