QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 29, 2008 -> 06:37 PM) My gameday messed up, it says CQ got out. Same, must be some sort of malfunction.

What's Danks' high for Ks in a game?

Lets get 3 more quick innings like that from Danks.

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ May 28, 2008 -> 01:17 PM) O ER's since the Sunday San Fran implosion no?????? Yeah seriously, isn't that like 24 consecutive IP without giving up an earned run, 12 of them in this series? -

If Crede didn't have the automatic out machines in front of him, his May numbers would look much better. He's batting .284 this month, but only 8 RBIs to show for it. Though he has only hit one HR whereas he hit 7 in April. His OPS this month is .763. -

The sixth inning has been rough for Sox pitchers this season. 42 runs allowed in that frame this season. 16 runs more than the next worst fram (the 2nd inning). Check out the box in the top right: http://presspass.mlb.com/pp_viewer.asp?d=39751&p=6 -

We need to stop the bleeding and hope that the offense can get it together and do work on this awful Indians pen. -

Following along on Gameday. They just uploaded the video of CQ's sac fly and Alexei's slide into home. The video quality isn't great, but the announcers say there's no way he touched the plate. Looks to me (from what I can make out) that he grazed the back, just barely. Anyone with a better view? Obviously Hawk and DJ will say he for sure touched the plate. Either way, at least we got a run and the lead and then held the lead. -

QUOTE (kane0730 @ May 28, 2008 -> 11:36 AM) Now that's impressive. Just curious, what's OC's stats? Check out Fathom's sig for the answer to that. They're pretty underwhelming. -

Great stat for CQ: with a runner on third and less than two out, CQ has scored the guy 13 of 16 times this season. -

Dye has been weird lately. I thought he was bought ready to really get white hot during that Cleveland series at home, he was 5-10 with like 6 RBI and 2 HRs. Then just like that he goes in a 2-19 with 1 RBI slump coming into today's game. Would you credit that to him just facing quality pitching? Just kind of weird that he seems to really be heating up and then goes ice cold for 5 games. Thats kind of the thing about this offense as a whole, just when it seems like they are getting things together by stringing together a few double digit hit games, they then go ice cold. Frustrating. -

QUOTE (fathom @ May 28, 2008 -> 10:41 AM) You must have missed the days when the Sox had absolutely no pitching. Javy had nothing on Monday, and still kept us in the game. I remember them well, thankfully they are a thing of the past. I am just saying that the pitching has gone above and beyond what anyone expected them to do as a unit. I hope it lasts all season. Will it though? I'm not saying they're terrible, or will be. Theres a chance they won't stay at this high of a level. Especially if the offense refuses to give them any run support. And to the person who sarcastically said that we should release Javy based on my commennts, thats just absurd. I was just saying that he didn't have a great game. I was merely stating a gut reaction that I had about the pitching, a bad feeling and it started with Javy's game Monday. Sorry to offend so many of you. -

QUOTE (Brian @ May 28, 2008 -> 10:23 AM) Yeah, Vazquez was awful. Yeah great he got a quality start. It was his season low for strikeouts with 2, also first time all season he gave up multiple home runs. He also walked two guys. Not a great line, not terrible either. But keep in mind he was facing the Indians whose offense had been terrible. I wonder how a team with an offense that was clicking would have handled Vazquez. -

I have a feeling this whole pitching staff is coming crashing back to earth. It started Monday. -

For me I really had a bad feeling in my stomach on opening day last year when Contreras just got owned by the Indians. Buehrle had a similar opening day start, but there was a totally different feel we felt in it until the end, and I thought we had the game won (if not for some questionable umpiring). For me, the bullpen collapse began on May 8 of last year when we were winning in the bottom of the 9th against the Twins and Morneau hit an absolute bomb into that goofy garbage bag wall in Minny. I forget who it was off of, it doesn't matter really. Then the Cubs series just amplified things and made the team even more of an embarrassment. This team has a stronger pen, a more confident offense and outstanding starting pitching. Sure things could go south, but I don't think we could be nearly as miserable as last season. Remember 2005 when we had a miserable August and a not so great beginning of September? What if we had our version of that already. It'd be real sweet if our best baseball was still ahead of us. For once I want the Sox to be a team that finishes strong (during the regular season). Aside from 2005 this has been mostly a team that goes to the very end and then just craps out (see Esteban Loaiza in 2003 and the 2006 squad).

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 21, 2008 -> 02:38 AM) How old is Durham now? Seems like he's been gone a long time. Is he still a better than average player, offensively and defensively? Durham is 36, he's been gone since the middle of the 2002 season.
