Chicago @ Seattle Gamethread
Wasn't Clayton's defense the main reason we signed him that year??? The fact that he struggled to hit was the reason why fans were down on him

Michigan: Detroit Then again, if we could just get rid of Detroit, Michigan can stay

Santana has given up 5 runs or more in 8 of his 12 starts this year, including his 1 IP, 7 ER gem against us earlier this year. Lets get to him early, give Danks a nice lead and cruise to the sweep!!!

2009 Cubs thread
QUOTE (soxman352000 @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 11:01 PM) and he got it. Man, BJ sucks Theres a reason why the Blue Jays were willing to eat the $20 million they still owe him just to get him as far away from their team as possible And it was nice to see the Cubs pull their best White Sox impression, getting four-hit shut out by a no-name AAAA pitcher making his 2nd career big league start.

Baseball can be a funny game. Last night against Johan Santana, the Cards scored 5 in 8 innings, then put up two against K-Rod in the ninth. (Not to mention the 5 in the 10th against the Mets so-called bullpen) Today against Jon Niese, Nelson Figueroa & Bobby Parnell, they are getting shut out after 8 innings.

Should Torres and Hudson be the 4 & 5
Definitely time to get rid of Contreras with his 2.15 ERA in June and 4.06 ERA in July.

QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Aug 3, 2009 -> 02:43 PM) I was at every home game for the white sox 2005 playoff run and game 4 in houston. Game 6 v. jazz The winner for me: KU v. Memphis ntl championship game in San Antonion. Much better comeback than the Illini v. Zona game and it meant a whole lot more. KU's obviously meant more, but the Illini's was more points in less time and actually consisted of defense not the luck of a bad free-throw shooting team being unable to hit a free throw when it mattered

QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Aug 3, 2009 -> 09:15 AM) Illinois v. Arizona. 2005 NCAA Midwest Regional Final. My hands remained swollen for two days from clapping so hard, and my voice stayed hoarse for five. Awesome. If I could have went to one game in the past, this would be it. It was nuts just watching at home, I can only imagine how crazy it was at the Horizon.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 3, 2009 -> 08:15 AM) I went to a Bulls/Atlanta Hawks playoff game in 1993. MJ hit a half courter to close out the half, they just steamrolled the Hawks. I also went to the White Sox game where Herbert Perry tripped over 3rd base trying to catch a Jim Thome popup. The very next pitch Thome hit a ball to straight away center that still hasnt landed. Stache Valentin and Big Frank homered too That reminds me of a game in 05 vs. Boston I was at. It was tied in the 9th, Manny popped one up behind 3rd base and Crede just straight up dropped it. The very next pitch, Manny just smoked a line drive out to left, I have never seen a ball leave the park that quickly.

Other than the obvious White Sox playoff games, the monday night Bears vs. Cardinals game in Phoenix a couple years ago was awesome to be it. Sexy Rexy did everything in his power to lose the game, and they were down 23-3 in the last seconds of the 3rd, then the defense returned two fumbles for TDs, and Hester returned a punt for the lead. Ex-Illini Neil Rackers had a field goal to win it at the end, but he blew it. The Bears were undefeated and it was Arizona's first monday night game in a while at their new stadium and the Cardinal fans were treating it like it was their Super Bowl. They were so sure they had the game won and to blow it like that really hurt them. There was a good amount of Bears fans there too.
