QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 11:40 AM) It's Miami University SI you f***s. And awesome, maybe ill finally make a game in South Bend. Big win this weekend! Down 41-14, came back and won to end the 21-game losing streak. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 11:06 AM) Rumors circling around Florida right now, not good. For some reason whenever Illinois appears to start a coaching search there are higher profile jobs that just open. If I was ILL I would pounce now before Michigan, Florida and some of the others have openings. Freshman QB Treon Harris, who replaced Driskel on Saturday, is "being investigated" in a "legal matter". -
Tillman, Chen, Norris vs. Shields, Vargas, Ventura Not exactly the type of starting rotations you expect to see in a LCS

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 10:38 AM) Who were they going to bring in that was going to be any better? When you get down to the third string QB, you might as well put in a young player with upside. I agree, but that's not Logan Thomas. In 2012 he had 18 TDs and 16 INTs. In 2013 he had 16 TDs and 13 INTs. In college. In the ACC. -

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 10:18 AM) He's their 3rd string qb, can't blame them too much for that. Carson Palmer hasn't played since week 1. Thomas has been their #2 the last 3 games, just one hit away from being called upon. If you are a team with legit playoff hopes, you need to have a better option than him. (Not to mention, he probably shouldn't even be a #3, but that's another story.) -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 10:05 AM) The schedule does lighten up a lot in the second half, but they've got to tighten their britches again and win some games that they won't be favored to win. My concern is that this philosophical change of ours (actually building an offense) will be deemed a failure by a successor regime and we go back to the John Shoop/That's my Dick Jauron days. They will be underdogs in 3 of their next 4 games, but should be favored in 6 of the last 7. It won't hold to form of course, but looking at it that way, they probably need to steal one in ATL, NE, GB, or DET to have a chance at 10-6. -
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 09:13 AM) I bet littlehurt partied his ass off last night after KC won Why can't it be Willingham or Infante getting the big hits? Anybody but Hosmer & Moustakas.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 08:37 AM) Because they're the Cardinals Ha, good point. I feel like they have had some great rosters the last few seasons, except for the QB position. Plus, it doesn't help to be in the same division as Seattle and San Francisco. -

Logan Thomas was an awful college QB at V-Tech. Why the hell did the Cardinals have him on their roster, let alone in a position to actually have to play in a NFL game? -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 4, 2014 -> 11:52 AM) Confidence has very little to do with it. Victor Martinez being less than super human or even not there next year, Miguel Cabrera being a year older, and perhaps most importantly Scherzer being gone are their worries for next year. On top of that, Nathan and Hunter are free agents and are quite old. Just to stay treading water will cost that team like $40 million+ next offseason. JD Martinez helps them a ton, Castellanos playing well in his 2nd year would help, but that is an old, expensive team with just about as many needs as us. Imagine where they would be if they weren't lucky enough to find a trade partner for Prince or if the Astros hadn't given up on JD Martinez.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 07:26 AM) They may not end up winning the title, but Auburn to me is the best team in the country. No one else is even particularly close IMO. @ Miss. State @ Ole Miss @ Alabama @ Georgia Texas A & M That's a hell of a tough schedule. Although, the new playoff committe has talked about emphasizing strength of schedule. With their OOC road game vs. Kansas State, I wonder if they would get a boost, even with maybe two losses. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 5, 2014 -> 11:14 PM) How come U of I football is so bad year after year? I can see why Kansas would suck. Kansas State is the football school in this backward state. But U of I? It should dominate and it has sucked for so long. The Illini should be able to get beefy linemen out of the Catholic League and the best athletes out of the rest of the state and put together a dynamic team. No reason for Northwestern to outrecruit U of I. Why does U of I suck in football? Who will be the next coach to get the program rolling? First of all, I think you are overrating how much football talent there is in Illinois. When it comes to high school, Chicago is a basketball city. The few great football players you have, why would they go to Illinois when the good programs are calling their name. Illinois has always been a basketball school. Other than one good stretch in the late 80s, it's never been very successful. Can the right coach turn them into a bowl team every year? Sure, but they haven't been able to find that coach yet. Zook showed that you can get talent to Champaign, now they just need a guy to do that and be a good football coach at the same time. -

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 05:09 AM) Report from MLBTradeRumors.com: Zach Links expects right-hander Justin Masterson to settle for a pillow contract to rebuild his value after a down 2014 and $12MM for that one year could make sense. I personally don't think that he's worth $12N for one year. While he may not be worth $12 million, the length of the deal is huge. Compare that to Shields who may get in the ballpark of 4/$60 or 5/$72 or something like that. Sure, Shields is the better pitcher, there's a lot more risk with the long-term deal. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 5, 2014 -> 10:13 AM) Is Williams an idiot or did he do what he should have done yanking Zimmerman after the walk and 100 pitches? Even as it happened, the consensus seemed to be that he pulled a Yost, should have left him in. That being said, Storen has been outstanding. The odds of him giving up two hits before getting an out were pretty slim

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Oct 5, 2014 -> 08:16 PM) Konerko might have been on to something mentioning the Royals reminding him of the 05' team. 2014 Royals - 95 home runs 2005 White Sox - 200 home runs

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 5, 2014 -> 05:02 PM) If this somehow saves Beckman's job Thomas need to be fired. I'm fine with Thomas getting one more shot at hiring a football coach given that he made two really good hires at Cincy and pretty much every other coaching decision he has made at Cincy and Illinois at least looks decent but if he doesn't fire Beckman after this year he should be sent packing. Given what the other "worst" team in the conference did at Memorial Stadium Saturday, I'm not too concerned that. Maybe if it happened earlier in the year. -

QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 5, 2014 -> 04:14 PM) Benjamin looked so nonchalant today. There were numerous balls he could have caught, but either had them go off his hands or just out of his reach. That was one of the worst games I have ever seen a receiver have. -

QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 5, 2014 -> 03:43 PM) IDK if anyone noticed, but pretty much all of Cutler's throws down the field were absolute crap today. Very inaccurate. We dink and dunked the Panthers the entire first half and that worked. They figured out that's all we're going to run in the second half and shut our offense down. In the second half Forte couldn't breathe without Kuechly all over him. -
