2012-2013 NCAA Basketball thread

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Mar 11, 2013 -> 05:20 PM) I was there in 04 and 05, 05 was a good atmosphere only because it was essentially their national championship game. 04 was OK. The place is pretty huge, I always think of it as a smaller United Center. 04 was the game I was at too, where Illinois clinched the outright title to end the season. It definitely has the size of a large arena like the UC, not a cozier college arena. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 11, 2013 -> 05:13 PM) I don't feel like that's been the case with our guys, they usually seem to focus on that ~100 pitch mark as the time to take guys out. Innings is a little easier to compare across pitchers and it's really useful in telling a pitcher's value (you clearly want the guy who throws more innings successfully), so innings gets used as a stat a lot. It's not just IP per start, it's also the intensity of the pitches. A 25-pitch inning where you load the bases with no one out puts more stress on your arm than a 25-pitch inning where you walk the 8-hitter.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 11, 2013 -> 03:04 PM) I've said many times I am jealous of that homecourt advantage. We have the largest stadium in the conference and the quietest fans. The games where this is no student section is about as loud as a 3rd tier HS game. It was almost ten years ago, but the one game I went to in Columbus had the atmosphere of a non-OKC NBA game. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 11, 2013 -> 04:50 PM) Its not about innings, it is about pitch count. Innings are meaningless in spring training. It's funny that it changes during the regular season. 6 IP, 80 pitches is very different than 6 IP, 120 pitches, yet teams only seem to look at IP when protecting their young starters.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 11, 2013 -> 02:02 PM) Enjoy Rockford, bud. He & Olesz will probably be the two richest people in all of Rockford -
QUOTE (farmteam @ Mar 11, 2013 -> 01:26 PM) Wait what tickets were only $7? That can't be right... I didn't even look into it, I knew I wouldn't be able to make it down to Chicago this weekend. Stubhub has $5 tickets for Thursday's sessions. For the rest of the weekend, it's at least $60-$75 to get in the door.

It seems like some Indiana fans are just happy to be relevant again, while others have expectations to return to the upper echelon of college hoops with teams like Kansas & Duke. -
Zack Greinke to have exam for elbow pain
-
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Mar 11, 2013 -> 12:09 PM) Percy Harvin just got traded to Seattle Glad to see him leave the NFC North
-
Start Q and absolutely give Sale the extra day, I hope it's not even a discussion in the Sox dugout. I don't care who the other team has on the mound.
-
Congrats on winning the Big Ten Indiana, you earned the toughest draw in the tourney.
-
QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 10, 2013 -> 12:46 PM) I could see Ok St to the finals. KU over OK St. in the finals.
-
Duke & Ryan Kelly all the way (hope I'm wrong)
-
I'm not a big fan of any Big East teams (other than DePaul ), but for some reason the Big East tourney is always the most exciting.

3 days off, which they can use, then a trip to Columbus to straighten things out. Although the Jackets just swept a weekend series with the Wings and have won 5 in a row. Need Stalberg to continue his mastery of Columbus. -
QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Mar 10, 2013 -> 10:05 PM) love the kids reactions How did those four little kids get such good seats? But wow, that was f***ing nasty.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Mar 9, 2013 -> 09:16 PM) Kind of true, but look at the Italy roster. Most aren't Italians, but Americans with Italian descent. The brawl is the biggest attention the WBC is going to draw. Only one player on the Spanish roster was actually born in Spain.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 9, 2013 -> 10:30 AM) So is there anyone with a decent chance to knock of Gonzaga or do they have the #1 overall all but wrapped up? Even if they win the WCC tourney, I don't think they have the #1 overall wrapped up. If Duke or Indiana win out, they could easily take over the #1 overall seed, as they would add a few more big wins to their resumes. -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 9, 2013 -> 10:41 AM) Well San Francisco may have only won 9 games, but they are on an upset terror in the tourney with three straight. They have the Zags later today. Okay, so that won't happen, but St. Mary's maybe could. I think you mean Loyola Marymount, not San Fran. They went 1-15 in conference, yet are 3-0 in the tourney so far. 21 point underdogs -
QUOTE (IowanSoxFan @ Mar 9, 2013 -> 12:54 PM) Has anyone been following the WBC? Asia
-
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Mar 8, 2013 -> 04:58 PM) If I owned property within a mile Wrigley I'd have to think seriously about unloading it. I think moving is a real threat and the day they announce it, property values are going to drop like a rock. Might as well start calling it South Uptown. The rental income is too good for me to sell now! They may threaten to move to the burbs, but it is never gonna happen. That neighborhood and park are now as much part of the franchise as the Cubs logo is. If they move away, they would actually have to worry about winning games every year.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Mar 8, 2013 -> 10:43 PM) Hawks suck, this team is a joke. They'll be lucky to make the playoffs. If the Sox had a 24 game winning streak, there would serious posts like this in PHT after their first loss. -
Looking to buy tickets for Book of Mormon this summer. Does anybody have any advice in regards to seating at the B of A theatre? The balcony & mezz seats are much cheaper than sitting in the lower level, but how is the view from there? I'd like to save some money, but not if it affects my enjoyment of the show. My play-watching experience is limited to one show on Broadway, and I was way up close for that one.

Why would you sign Chris Sale to an extension then turn around and trade him? I ask because that's what it would take to get Headley right now.
