Turns out an intentional walk on a 1-2 count has only happened twice before since 2014. And both times it also blew up in the manager's face.

Detroit pitchers have some of the worst luck. God damn.

Gavin Sheets Optioned to AAA. Lambert Up.
Not having to deal with his defense in RF is a huge plus. He also stopped hitting for any sort of power about 3 weeks ago. So there's no point in him being up here.

Hey, that sounds familiar! The Sox definitely weren't ready for postseason play last year.

If his goal is to catch Connie Mack, then he really didn't think it through very well. Just like how he didn't think through the intentional walk yesterday.

The Phillies fired Girardi a week ago. They were 8 games under .500. They were a few games back of the Sox. They're now a game up on the Sox and haven't lost since Girardi's firing.

The defense is worse now than it was when Tony was hired. The offense wasn't better last year than it was in 2020. It's not even worth comparing for this year. The only thing that's improved since 2020 is the pitching and Katz is probably responsible for most of that. I can't believe I actually miss Rick Renteria as manager. You know, the guy who experimented with Carlos Rodon as a reliever with the division on the line. The guy who probably broke Jimmy Cordero's elbow. The guy who loaded the bases to pitch to Christian Yelich.

Who is Changing Plans? Attending Less Games
I've already spent my time following this team, there's no way in hell I'm gonna spend money to watch it.

TLR is dying by platoon splits. The Dodgers guys said this perfectly yesterday when criticizing Tony's lineup. Tony loves to put his lineups with alternating handedness and he'll do it at the expense of putting his better hitters lower in the order. Is it a coincidence that the game he pulled that shit we ended up scoring 1 run when the offense has actually been producing at least 3-4 runs with the more right handed dominant lineup?

The problem is that almost everyone on this coaching staff is a TLR crony. So if they get rid of him and the replacement is in-house, I doubt anything really changes. It'll just be a less senile version of him. The problems in the org are deeper than just him. It probably starts with him, but it doesn't end there.

That's the thing though. Players will at times put managers in situations that suck and the good managers find ways to manage around that and win. TLR looks fine when his starter gives him 6 scoreless innings and his bullpen does its job, but when you give him a 50/50 situation to get out of, he's usually wrong. And in some cases, egregiously wrong.

Burger taking responsibility for his blunders while TLR is acting like his blunder was genius.

I did find it funny he didn't actually say what Turner is hitting in those situations, he just inferred that he was good at that situation.

He's fucking delusional lmao. It's crazy that his move completely backfired and he's still sticking to his guns thinking it was some sort of no brainer move.

Trea Turner has 2 hits in 7 ABs in a 1-2 count this year against left handed pitchers. I don't know how you draw any real conclusions about that from a sample size of 7 ABs. In his career, he's a .229 hitter against lefties in a 1-2 count. Muncy, while bad this year, is historically a stronger hitter vs. lefties .251/.365/.492.

I truly think Jerry will make TLR step down after yesterday
Wait, doesn't Abreu always start hitting when Ron says he's done? So is Ron trying to will JR to extend Tony LaRussa?

McGuire actually has a batting average 60 points higher than Grandal's. And McGuire is hitting .220.

6/9 GT: LAD @ Sox 1:10pm (Cease vs. Anderson)
His fastball has gotten hammered this year. It went from being his best pitch last year to being his worst this year. You'd think him developing his change up would help his fastball, but that really hasn't been the case.

What the hell is the point of putting Moncada in at 3B now? Burger has a chance at actually hitting next inning and at this point, you need hitting, not defense.
