  1. Skubal aiming for the immaculate inning against Vaughn.
  2. He did hit the homer off Marshall's sinker yesterday. But yeah we need to stop hanging breaking pitches.
  3. Ever since that series in Minnesota, we've pretty much let one guy beat us at least every series. vs. Twins - Sano 3 HR game vs. Yankees - Torres vs. Cardinals - Edman with 2 HR game vs. Orioles - Galvis vs. Indians - Ramirez...as always vs. Tigers - Haase and Schoop
  4. What the fuck? How are we consistently giving up homers to this guy?
  5. The good news is that he's almost at 60 pitches so we're gonna get the Detroit bullpen for at least 3-4 innings.
  6. I didn't know he still threw that.
  7. That ball had an xBA of .170. That's a routine play.
  8. Terrible read by Mendick...but that's what you get when you play an infielder in the OF.
  9. We need to stop letting a few guys just pummel us every series. It's been a trend for the past few series.
  10. True, Yaz is the hottest bat on the team right now.
  11. Sox are going with Cease tomorrow and Rodon on Tuesday against Toronto. Good move IMO. Cease had his best start against Detroit and that Toronto offense will probably do well against him.
  12. Did Yermin party too hard last night and show up late again?
  13. Against a lefty too. It doesn't make sense but w/e.
  14. I think the shift + Grandal's bum knee not allowing him to elevate the ball is what was causing his BABIP to be that atrocious. I'm pretty sure he was unable to do anything except hit grounders to the right side from the left side of the plate. He went opposite field maybe a handful of times all year before today. So while his BABIP is unsustainably low and he probably was unlucky, it wasn't a complete coincidence. When the other team knows exactly where you'll hit every time and they can play a rover outfielder, it doesn't matter how hard you hit the ball if you don't elevate it.
  15. The MVP chants for Jose were great. The crowds before this really couldn't get loud enough to make it sound special. Good to see Jose get that treatment after no crowds last year.
  16. I had no issues with Crochet going in the 8th, my issue was using him in the 9th.
  17. I have nothing against Crochet, but he's no Liam Hendriks. I also hated the matchups for Crochet against the hitters the Tigers had coming up. Schoop hits lefties better than righties, especially after the damage he did tonight off Keuchel. Candelario has a 183 wRC+ off lefties this year. Haase has a 173 wRC+ off lefties this year, as he's basically only hit them until his HR off Marshall tonight. Cabrera also isn't as useless against lefties as he is against righties. Tony knows what platoons splits are. He should have seen those and said there's no way in hell I'm throwing a lefty reliever against those guys if I have one of the best relievers in baseball in my bullpen.
  18. Grandal has a higher wRC+ than everyone except Yoan right now. And Yoan's batting average doubles his right now. It's actually pretty funny. Moncada is already one of the league leaders in walk rate and Grandal somehow has a similar OBP despite hitting .150.
  19. It took a great catch from Hamilton for Crochet to not give up the lead. I didn't understand Tony's line of thinking at all for that move. If you had Hendriks warming, why not give him a clean inning and then get your middle of the order up in the 9th? Are you saving him for the 10th, an inning that may never come? Why would you save him for a jam when he can get a clean inning and not be in a jam in the first place? Why risk a lesser reliever giving up base runners that gives your opponent a better opportunity to win?
  20. Can you imagine this bullpen without Hendriks? Even if we brought Colome back, seeing how he's done in Minnesota isn't exactly encouraging.
  21. I had no problem with pulling Keuchel. You just expect the bullpen to be better with a 5 run lead. Safe to say Heuer and Marshall just got moved down the pecking order tonight.
  22. 4 games up on Cleveland. Today's game was the game I thought we would lose given the pitching matchup. We almost did lose, but I think the comeback is better for this team despite our bullpen getting hammered.
  23. Snatching victory from the jaws of defeat after snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory in the 7th.
