QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ May 20, 2010 -> 10:06 PM) I dont have any tattoos but I really want 2 lol, I just keep on struggling with finding ideas/concepts that are important enough to me id want to tattoo them on my body. The most important thing I stress is to not rush into it, that way you'll eventually come up with a tattoo design idea that you'll like so much, that it'll nag at you till you get it. I also stress that money should not be an object when it comes to a tattoo. If you think a tattoo artist quote you too much, don't ever haggle him or go to a cheaper artist. Just save up enough beforehand or even pay $50 deposits every 2 weeks until most of it is paid off before you get it tattoo'd on you, that's what I did.

I think I might be done with getting tattoos, because I feel "completed" if that makes any sense. However, I am still thinking about getting an Ox head tattoo on my back and/or the II gemini symbol on my right chest.

For my 2nd tattoo, I waited two years while fleshing out ideas for a design. I knew I wanted one on my right arm to "balance out" my tattoo on my left arm in order to get a little more symmetry. I also knew I wanted my 2nd tattoo to be more "dark" than my first and I wanted to incorporate the themes of poker and anarchy in this design. It finally struck me to incorporate the skull with spade background from my poker card protector. Since I always wanted a skull tattoo, incorporating a skull in a tattoo along with a poker and anarchy theme works out perfect, since it's "not gonna be just a skull". I also decided that I wanted an angry skull with my eyeballs in it with the anarchy symbol on the skull's forehead and cracks all over the skull for a ghastly appearance. My original concept drawing was this... ..again, I'm a horrible artist. Once again, I went back to Shred and he once again drew an awesome design, he was awesome enough to tweak the design after I asked him to change the playing cards to look more like old and tattered playing cards from the old west and to use normal Aces instead of more little anarchy symbols since I didn't want it to be redundant, I also had the playing cards depict quad aces since I once had quad aces in an underground tournament, and I also had the suits ordered from spade, heart, diamond, club so that I can have a reminder of the correct ranking of spade and to keep a black/red/red/black symmetry. I also requested at the last minute some missing teeth, and the big crack on the lower left jaw and the crack below the right eyeball.

I have two tattoos, I'll post my first one in this post then my 2nd one in the next post... First, I thought it'd be fun to show my old concept drawing I created 7 years ago when I was fleshing out the ideas for my first tattoo... ...yea, I'm a HORRIBLE artist. I knew exactly what I wanted, I even waited 5 years to make sure I wanted it and still did, so it was all a matter of me finding the right tattoo artist. I went to 3 different tattoo artists first and none of them worked out (1st one was a jerk, 2nd one drew a sketch that was a little too old-school for my taste, and the 3rd one was in a motorcycle accident and might not be as good anymore. So I finally found Shred at Shred's Inferno on 63rd street in the South Side of Chicago. http://www.shredtattoos.com/ He was a very cool guy and he was very open to all my ideas and I felt like he was very enthusiastic about doing my tattoo, and he was also very patient with my requests to tweak the design here and there. After 6 months of tweaking, and paying towards the deposit each time, I finally got my first tattoo on my left arm on Good Friday 2008...

QUOTE (Tex @ May 20, 2010 -> 03:46 PM) Maybe not, I am surprised by how many of my 13-14 year old students have a negative image about tats. Really?!?!!? I'm shocked to hear that, but then I realized you're in Texas where a lot of 14 year olds probably have more conservative christian values than most anywhere else.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 20, 2010 -> 02:53 PM) That's just weird, Sqwert. I also kind of find it weird that you would even have a tattoo. I know it has nothing to do with being a vegan and all, but it just seems like a vegan also wouldn't do something like that to their own body. I probably won't ever get a tattoo. I can't see any tattoo being as cool or funny in the future as I might find it when first getting it. The only exception I can think of is a veteran. It's still really cool to see a veteran from WWII, Korea, Vietnam, etc. still have their unit's symbol. The coolest thing ever would be to meet someone who actually has a battleship on their chest. I have a cousin who's vegan, and he has a couple tattoos. Also if you're worried about a tattoo not being cool in the future as when you first got it, then do whatever you can to get a 100% original tattoo that has meaning to you and tells a story about who you are in some way. I'm a big believer that tattoos should tell the looker something about the wearer, very similar to prison tattoos. Prison tattoos has a lot of meaning behind the images, for example, you may see a spiderweb tattoo and think it's just a spiderweb, but it really means that the person spent time in prison. I just really like that visual symbolism. As for BigSqwert, if I was a stranger and didn't know he was a vegan and I looked at his tattoo, I would assume he was a vegan because of the statement it's making with the visual symbolism of the cow and pigs eating a human. Great tattoo Sqwert.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 20, 2010 -> 01:20 PM) Here's a piece I had done last summer. Awesome thread idea! : I'll be posting pics of my tattoos when I get home from work tonight. And awesome tattoo, dude. I'd love to hear the story about how you came up with that and how your tattoo artist reacted when you approached him with the idea. Who was your artist? It'd be funny if any of us on Soxtalk got tattoo'd by the same artist.

I thought tonight's episode was good. I wondered what exactly happened to Richard Alpert? Is he dead or alive? I also wish Widmore had a bigger role.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 18, 2010 -> 03:49 PM) Ridiculously easy Lost quiz on the Sun Times home page. I got one wrong because I read the question too fast. got them all right. I'm almost tempted to force someone who never watched Lost to take this quiz.

For some reason, I don't like roasted nuts. I also especially hate that some nuts are honey-roasted, I find that nasty. Also, I don't like almonds or walnuts, but I do like them in other stuff, like in candy bars such as Snickers. What I do like are: *raw salted cashews. *raw salted peanuts in shell or out of shell. *raw salted redskin spanish peanuts. *raw pistachios, usually salted.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 14, 2010 -> 10:17 AM) Tiffany Pollard is a bit too tranny looking for my tastes. Really? Weird, it's funny cause I don't think that at all.
-
QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 13, 2010 -> 11:15 PM) Yet, you look at Tiffany Pollard. :lolhitting :lolhitting You made me LOL. I know it's weird to everyone, but I find Tiffany Pollard's face attractive. lol, for real.

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ May 13, 2010 -> 06:13 PM) You need your eyes checked sir. I'd say like a 32D. Hmmm, I guess I stand corrected. I guess I just never noticed her chest that much because I always thought her face was very unattractive, and when I think a celebrity girl's face is unattractive, I don't bother to look at anything else.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 13, 2010 -> 06:11 PM) I remember when everyone was feeling a bit guilty talking about Hayden Panetierre 2-3 years ago, while her "minor" status was changing. Not that pretty to me. As far as Don's "Robert DeNiro-esque" ethnic girls, I think Gabrielle Union in the movie "Cradle to the Grave" with Jet Li is super-hot. Can't go wrong with Eva Mendes, either, always been a big fan of hers. As for Asian girls (haven't discussed this one here), I'll go with Zhang Ziyi, Gong Li (if you're going for the 35ish looking "cougar" who's much closer to 50), Tang Wei (just check out the movie Lust/Caution "Xi Jie" by ANG LEE), Lin Chiling from Taiwan, Selena Ren from the Taiwanese girl-group S.H.E., any of the members of GIRLS GENERATION (my personal favorite is Su Young Choi because of her unbelieveable legs), Wonder Girls (fading a bit in my estimation), Jamie Chung (ex Real World, she has been in a few movies now like Dragonball), Shu Qi (she was in the first Transporter movie), Michelle Wie (I know someone will argue this with me, it's like Don's Serena Williams pick), Sora Aoi, Maria Ozawa, to start out with, just off the top of my head... http://www.chinese-tools.com/china/crazy/2...tiful-legs.html These two sisters, if you look past all the make-up covering their faces (seems both had a lot of acne/skin problems when they were younger), are just average in appearance...but those LEGS, wow! Haha, I agree that I'm very much like Robert Deniro when it comes to women. I think Deniro and I could've been good friends if we ever met, lol. As for Gabrielle Union, I agree, I think she's very hot. But it's funny, I think she didn't look her best in "Cradle to the Grave", she looks MUCH hotter in that tv show, Flashforward. I agree, Zhang Ziyi is very cute, she was hot in Rush Hour 2, right? Gong Li is still young in my book, hell, 35 ain't old to me. Wow,... I really like Sora Aoi, I think she's hot. I would put her on my Top 100 hottest women list that I'm making, but a friend and I both agreed to not put porn stars on our lists cause it'd be too easy. Also, speaking of asian girls, am I the only one that has a milf crush on Julie Chen?

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 13, 2010 -> 04:44 PM) Pollard is a hooker, you can find one of them on craigslist.org But not as fine as Pollard.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 13, 2010 -> 03:53 PM) I feel ya on some of the women you had on your list. Quite frankly, I like alot of them too, but if your telling me your taking New York over Katy Perry (who you might want to google wearing a bikini cause she really is "curvy" or really New York over anybody really since she is just horrible to look at, not to mention had about 5 different surgeries) then you disgust me. Don't worry, Tiffany Pollard didn't make my top 80, but she did make my list. But yea, if I had to pick between Tiffany Pollard and Katy Perry, I'd still pick Pollard. Even though Pollard had a lot of surgeries, I think she actually looks better than ever, especially with that fantastic boob job. Tiffany has sexier lips, more curves (even though it's from surgery), a booty to die for, and her lush chocolate skin is more pleasing to my eyes than Katy Perry's so-pale-that-you-need-sunglasses-to-look-at-her skin. Just my own personal taste.
-
QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 13, 2010 -> 03:52 PM) Katy Perry is sporting 32E's. Thats curvy enough for me. I agree with Milkman, she doesn't even look like she has size E's to me either. She looks more like an A-cup. She also has no booty to speak of.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 13, 2010 -> 02:55 PM) I have decided that you are dumb. However, we all have different taste, but I think those two are f***ing gorgeous. lol, I just like girls with more curvaceous features.
-
QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ May 13, 2010 -> 12:28 PM) Katy Perry reminds me of Zooey Deschanel....so for me... cute and deserving of being on the list, but not hot and not #1. Ugh, I don't see anything hot about her. :-/ She wouldn't even make my top 100. I'm actually in the middle of making my "SouthsideDon48's Top 100 Hottest Women of the World" list, and with pictures. I might have it done sometime this weekend, and if the admins give me permission, I might post my top 100 with pictures in this thread or another thread (whichever they prefer). If the admins say I can't use pictures, no problem, just let me know and I'll just provide links to my "hot pictures" that would still be safe for work. : This way, you can all poke fun at me for finding the women I find hot, hot. And maybe you might discover some new chicks you find hot from my list. : By the way, I think only about 10 chicks from the Maxim list made my list, lol.

I also really liked this episode. I thought it answered a lot of questions about the conflict between Jacob and MiB. Even though it didn't answer questions about the origins of the island itself, I thought it really showed us more of who Jacob and MiB really were.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 12, 2010 -> 11:01 AM) I wanted more clarity in who their mom was. Why was she on the island and who picked her for that role? Where those people the first "Others" or where there more before them? Were all the temples and statues created yet? Who created them anyway? I think "those people" were the first people, or one of the first people that were in the same situation as the Oceanic crash survivors, Rousseou's team, and the Ajira survivors. I think Jacob and MiB were the first "Others", along with their mother. Except MiB defected from the Others and joined the shipwreck victims the same way Juliette left the Others and joined the Oceanic Flight 316 crash survivors. I think at some point after the death of MiB, Jacob started building his own group of followers, the Others, and as they grew bigger he prolly commanded them from the temple by giving orders to just Richard or something. Just theories.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 12, 2010 -> 11:42 AM) I was fine with the episode as I believe it provided the background for what will be the final conflict. Some interesting thoughts (and one not so interesting that I had) 1) It seemed to me that the "mother" was trying to have MIB kill her. That is why she says "Thank You" at the end. Perhaps she could only be killed by Jacob or MIB, and the reason why she loved MIB more was that she knew one day he would be the one to free her from the island. 2) I believe the knife used to kill the mother is the same knife that Jacob and MIB have been trying to use to kill eachother. 3) The name "Jacob" would imply that the people were of Greek origin. Jacob is a hebrew name and therefore would not have been one taken by Egyptians. The language that they were speaking seemed Greek and there is a variation of Jacob in Greek. 4) From this episode it now seems unclear how much Jacob truly knows. His mother never fully explained his purpose, and what he has stated previously (that they need to stop MIB from leaving the island) is not exactly what his mother stated (they need to protect the light from others.) While it seems that the outcome would be similar (darkness for all), it may or may not be true that MIB actually has to stay on the island. Furthermore, the transformation of to MIB, is entirely unexplained and may never be understood by Jacob. 5) MIB is called "special" and can see dead people. Walt is called special. Is there some sort of connection that will unfold? 6) What is Jacob's real mothers role in this? It was implied that she was the one telling MIB how to find a way off the island. It also was implied that the fake mother knew that this would work. It would seem that eventually the wheel does get created, but for whatever reason can no longer get MIB off the island. I think the episode has some foreshadowing as well, its just hard to know without seeing the end. Great theories! You made me think of some things... I'll respond to your points as a way for me to articulate it... 1. What if... because their "mother" was only able to be killed by Jacob, and that made Jacob her successor,... what if Ben is Jacob's successor because he killed Jacob? What if Ben was the only person that was able to kill Jacob, while the only person that's able to kill MiB/Flocke haven't done so yet. What if... the person that's supposed to kill Flocke is Jack,... and Jack will be the successor to the MiB, and be stuck on the island in the same way as a prisoner? 2. Was that the same knife MiB gave Ben to kill Jacob? I don't remember. It does look like the same knife Dogun gave Sayid at the temple to kill MiB/Flocke, though. 3. The closed captioning on my tv said they were speaking Latin, hopes that helps. 4. I agree. Also, this episode made Jacob seem too naive and less credible. In fact, his naive ways of obeying his "Mother" kind of reminds me of how Ben blindly obeyed the orders of Jacob even though he never saw him. I am now fully on the side of the MiB, I like him a lot more and I think he's more intelligent than Jacob. MiB also symbolizes free will to me, and while his whole "ends to a mean" comment kind of sounds cold, I often agree with that philosophy and it's how I would play the game of "Survivor" if I ever had the chance to play it. 5. I think lots of people can be special. Wasn't Locke special because he was no longer paralyzed? Miles and Hurley are special because they can communicate with the dead. Walt just happened to have been the first one we were told was special, I don't really think there's any other significance. However, I would LOVE it if in the last episode the island jump forward in time to 2010 or later just so they can have an excuse to have the actor who played Walt reprise his role. 6. I think her role was nothing more than to show how the conflict between Jacob and MiB all started. Also, their birth mother Claudia reminded me of a lot of tragic myths.
