QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 06:44 PM) When was the last time we had a starter who could throw 97-98? Colon in 2003 is the only one I can think of in recent memory...it would take him until the 4th or 5th to get up to that speed, though. And it seems he threw more often at 95-96-97 when he was with the Sox. I agree. It's pretty nice to have a hard-throwing starter. I feel as excited watching Jackson's 97's and 98's as I was watching Jenks' 99's and 100's in 2005.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 01:52 PM) I'll give you a preview: All of them are too skinny, too light, and dont look enough like street walkers from Atlanta. Exaaaaaaactly! But I gotta say... I think Hunter Pence's girl is the hottest on the list. -
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 11:44 AM) I spend so much time stroking other teams' stars, I unintentionally take the ones on my team for granted. But PK? Do people realize this dude has been every bit as good, if not better, than some Albert Pujols guy? He's having arguably his best season at the ripe old age of 34. Tied for 5th in baseball in HRs, 11th in RBIs, 6th in SLG%, 10th in OPS. And for the saber crowd, he's only 5th in ISO power and 8th in wOBA. Don't even have to get into how many errors he saves our infielders. He's been nothing short of amazing and is a legitimate MVP candidate. Take a bow, Paul. You deserve it. Amen! I'll be honest, man. I hope the Sox bring Konerko back, hopefully Konerko will agree to a cheap contract again. I'd honestly like to see Konerko retire as a White Sox and I don't think the Sox has anyone else in the minors to play 1st base. Plus, retaining Konerko will be cheaper than going after someone like Fielder or Dunn, and that would allow the Sox to use their money for players at other positions.

I've been on Soxtalk for two years and this is my first game thread. Let's do this! : White Sox at Detroit, 6:05pm CDT. Edwin Jackson's White Sox debut against Galarraga. Let's have our offense feast off Galarraga and get Edwin his first win with the White Sox! C'mon Coop, lets see how you helped fix Jackson! Sox are 60-46 right now, just 30 more wins from 90 wins, lets do it!

Hey everyone, am I the only one that think the Sox is fine as they are currently constructed? I mean,... the Sox has 58 wins, they had, like, a 13-game win streak, a 8 game win streak, and two 5 game win streaks (forgot the exact lengths of the streaks). I think I'd rather stick to the offense that's been belting out the runs the past couple weeks and not risk disrupting any team chemistry by bringing in another bat. I also think Edwin Jackson will help this team more than a bat can. Jackson makes our rotation air-tight and I think he's gonna surprise a lot of people. Plus, with Threets in our bullpen the bullpen is so much more better at Putz, Thornton, Santos, Pena, Jenks, Threets, Linebrink. I dunno, I'm just feeling VERY VERY confident in this team now, and as long as they keep winning, I don't think they'll need to trade for a DH bat.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:12 PM) Problem is Jackson's not a clear upgrade. If it was Oswalt, then I'd agree with you. Honestly, I think Oswalt is overrated and over the hill. I prefer Jackson over Oswalt. In fact: Oswalt I'm THRILLED the Sox got Jackson, he's been one of my favorite MLB pitchers since his days with Tampa.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 04:26 PM) That's like giving me the option to bone one of Beyonce, Meagan Good, Rihanna and Jennifer Hudson then saying I can only choose the plump one. OT but... I prefer the plump one. For me it's 1. Jennifer Hudson, 2. Beyonce, 3. Megan Good, and then farther down at a distance at #4 is Rihanna with a bag over her head.

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jul 21, 2010 -> 06:29 AM) This is probably a stupid question, but did you finance anything when you bought the new car? If so, the lein holder will have the title. No, I paid off the full amount with a check.
-
Hey everyone, I'm getting annoyed with waiting for the title of my car to come in the mail that I'm starting to get worried. See, I got a used 2001 Toyota Camry from the Planet Toyota dealership in Matteson on July 1st. The manager told me the title would be mailed to me, and it's now July 21st and I still haven't gotten the title. Is this normal? I have a bunch of reciepts and a "power of attorney" paper or something, but no title. Was I supposed to mail something in order to get the title? I'm thinking of going to the dealership tomorrow to talk to a manager about it. It's frustrating because I still can't drive the new car yet, I'm still driving the old car because of an insurance thing I gotta clear up with an accident with the old car. But when I sell my old car, I'll be transferring the title of the new car to a relative so I can have cheaper insurance. But I can't do that without a title!

QUOTE (SuperSteve @ Jul 19, 2010 -> 10:00 PM) I'm not happy about Contador's tactics today. I understand why you would attach when Schleck's chain came off but a two-time TDF winner should have wanted to win the right way. I understand the idea of winning at all costs but at least now I know I picked the right GC contender to cheer for. Lets go ANDY! I read the article about that on Yahoo and I don't understand what the big deal was. Why should other people slow down if your chain came off? They should have every right to pass you and win the race. Apparently it's some kind of etiquette thing, but I don't agree with it. That would be like a baseball player not running to 3rd base if the 2nd baseman couldn't catch the ball, or a basketball player not shooting for a hoop cause the guy defending him tripped, or a nascar racer not winning a race because the car ahead of him crashed, etc etc etc. :-/

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 14, 2010 -> 03:48 PM) Its completely situational for me, so I'm not sure what the answer is. Agreed. If it was the 6th or 7th inning and the starter or another reliever had to be taken out, and there were baserunners, I'd actually go to Santos. Save Thornton/Putz for the 7th or 8th, then Jenks for the 9th.

NL takes home field advantage in the World Series
SouthsideDon48 replied to shago's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I actually think it's a good thing the NL won, cause I think it increases the Sox's chances of winning. This means that if the Sox makes the World Series, and has to play 7 games, they have a better chance with an NL line-up in an NL park without Ozzie starting Vizquel, Kotsay, or Jones. Ozzie will have to utilize them as bench players for once. -
QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 08:15 PM) in Spanish all of the As are pronounced like "ah" so it would sound like die-yahn. Thanks for clarifying, dude. I'm always afraid to sound like I'm saying "Diane" instead of "die-yahn". :

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 08:10 PM) I thought the Cuban Tank was quite official? Tank and Cuban Tank are just awesome. Makes me think of Tank Abbott. ...I think I'm gonna start calling him Tank Viciedo since I'm still not sure how Dayan is pronounced, anyway.

Any chance the Sox can just put him on an extended minor league rehab stint and try and stretch it out for as many excuses as possible so they can wait until rosters expand in September?
