Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
QUOTE (fathom @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:19 PM) What do you mean a lefty for Betemit? Like a LOOGY? Betemit has no trade value right now. You're better off finding a LOOGY on the waiver wire. Hell, Breslow was claimed a few days ago. As long as the guy can throw the ball across the plate with his left-hand i'm game. It's very telling that other then Poreda our best lefty in the minors is Wes Whisler.

2009 MLB Pre-Draft Discussion
If this Peavy fiasco has taught us anything it's that we're probably going to draft pitchers. Most likley a lefty. Now, who fits that profile?

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
QUOTE (daa84 @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:16 PM) so now that this thing is off......and despite what Hahn said...i gotta think Poreda will be in the pen sooner than later replacing gobble...right? Poreda just k'd 12 in seven. Colon just had an epic fail of a game today. If we're ever going to call up AP i want it as a starter. Hopefully, we can get a lefty for Betemit.

5/21 Games
QUOTE (fathom @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:01 PM) Why's that? Javy's doing a great job for the Braves. Gilmore, until recently, was doing horrible. Flowers is having a good, not spectacular season. I think Atlanta has to be pretty happy about that trade so far. The organization was clearly done with Javy V. To get someone like Flowers for him is incredibly impressive. We have a guy who's hitting well enough to justify being put into the 2010 picture.

5/21 Games
QUOTE (flavum @ May 21, 2009 -> 08:58 PM) 3 hits for Gordon. Jon Gilmore 2-3 tonight. He's on fire. 14 hits in his last 22 AB's. The Braves trade is an absolute winner. KW deserves a medal for that.

2009 Cubs thread
Poor Sean Marshall continues to get hung out to dry. He's kinda like the Cubs version of BA, he's done everything to deserve a consistent shot, and when he does the cards get stacked against him.

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
QUOTE (G&T @ May 21, 2009 -> 08:51 PM) The guy wrote a Cubs-stroking article, about how the White Sox didn't deserve Peavy, and that they were in a position to suck for a few years running. Why would i be happy? I'm pissed over this whole day of course i'm prone to hyperbole.

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
If this affair has taught me anything it’s that Ken Rosenthal is an ignorant midget who can go screw himself because no one will be stupid enough to do it for him.

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
Food for thought. KW didn't burn any bridges on this one.

5/21 Games
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 21, 2009 -> 07:17 PM) Beckham and Danks both hit homers. 5-1 Barons in the third. Danks and Beckham are incredible. There was about a two week adjustment period for both of them and they've never looked back. Flowers hardly even needed a week!

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 21, 2009 -> 08:25 PM) I wouldn't, unless the PTBNL were Broadway and McCulloch or Egbert or something. But if it was Hudson and another solid guy, too much. I think Oswalt is nearing the decline. Yep, because of the age disparity between Peavy and Oswalt you have to take Hudson out of a deal. Poreda, Richard, Broadway and Mcculloch/Ely is exactly the type of deal to explore. Oswalt isn't perfection, but an ace is an ace.

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
QUOTE (fathom @ May 21, 2009 -> 06:28 PM) Dan Haren, Oswalt (a little older, but could be available) I'd do the same damn package for Oswalt.

Jake Peavy has quickly become one of my most hated players. I don't root for cowards, especially greedy ones.

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
QUOTE (fathom @ May 21, 2009 -> 05:27 PM) I also hope that KW has done his research about any player he trades for, and if that player will show up on the list of the 100 or so players that tested positive during 2005. Wait, did Fathom just link a here-to-now clean player to steroids? What? Will wonders ever cease?

After seeing this game . . .
The Braves just lost Omar infante, the only lefty of interest is Jo Jo Reyes, and he's been hit around.
