  1. I’m not sure what “penalties for excessive spending” refers to, but definitely seems like the owners are making some concessions.
  2. At least he caveated it somewhat this time.
  3. What about Kirk, OBJ, & JuJu?
  4. There is a massive difference between being objectively lower than consensus on a player and having a bizarre hatred for a player. I literally can only think of two examples of the latter on this site, which are tray with Vaughn and you with Madrigal. And I love posts like this that rip an entire site by calling it “weird” and yet the same poster continues to post at said place day after day. Condescension at its finest!
  5. I’m not sure if it’s good or bad that the only baseball news coming out today is Bauer showing up at the union camp…
  6. Pretty insane the Sox almost turned him & Madrigal (plus other stuff) into Burnes and instead ended up with the ghost of Kimbrel past. It’s very obvious Hahn was looking to sell high on these guys for a while.
  7. Glad we traded this chump
  8. I’ll take the over…I think a deal will be agreed to today with both sides conceding a bit on various issues, including a 14 team playoff setup.
  9. I’m fine with zero tolerance for gambling, but I can’t sit by & argue that someone making $1,500 in bets in favor of their own team should receive a penalty substantially worse than someone who actually uses PEDs to cheat, physically abuses a women or child, or risks exposing their immune-compromised coach to COVID by faking their vaccination status. And I’m sure I’m in the minority here, but I find the NFL’s suspension structure to be a total sham and this is further proof of that.
  10. $100M max which I’d wager is offset by non TV revenue and revenue sharing. And just for context, the lowest revenue teams are gaining $50M to $60M from revenue sharing on top of the $100M money from TV revenue. And gate receipts in a regular length season should be close to $40M for even the weakest teams and that doesn’t account for concession, merchandise, parking, etc. I’m very confident a $100M floor is achievable.
  11. Smoke some weed…two game suspension. Break COVID protocols…three game suspension. Use performance enhancing drugs…six game suspension. Beat your spouse silly…eight game suspension. Bet on the NFL…LIFETIME BAN SCUMBAG!?!
  12. I mean, each team gets $60M+ in national TV money plus at least $40M in local TV money. Yes, there are other expenses than just player salary, but throw in revenue sharing and any level of gate receipts, concessions, merchandise, etc. and every single franchise can support a $100M+ payroll no questions asked. Now that spending is constrained in the draft and international amateur free agency, there is zero reason not to have a salary floor other than to allow low revenue clubs looking to pocket boatloads of cash.
  13. An add-on to a Kimbrel trade??? Vaughn is a highly valuable asset and is in a different stratosphere value wise than Craig. Packaging them together makes very little sense.
  14. I’m not saying we shouldn’t move Eloy to DH, I’m just pointing out you may not get exactly the same hitter. Do I think he’s a 70 wRC+ guy as an everyday DH? No, but I do believe guys get in their heads more frequently when they don’t play the field and it should be a consideration at minimum. I agree though, I expect Eloy to spend a sizable portion of his time next year in LF. That doesn’t make it the right decision, but I’m not sure the Sox are ready to commit him to DH full-time just yet.
  15. You’re ignoring a ton of awesome trades that KW and Hahn have made though.
  16. The bulk of his DH time came last year and up through 9/17 he rotated between DH & LF on a pretty frequent basis. I’m not sure health had a big impact here, but I will point out his splits between DH & LF would have been even more extreme if you ignore the 13 consecutive games he played in LF from 9/18 to season’s end and posted a 80 wRC+. Again, none of this statistical significant, but it’s a red flag worth pointing out.
  17. I think people assume that everyone can DH when in reality many players struggle when they don’t play the field and only bat a handful of times a game. While an incredibly small sample size, Eloy has a 61 wRC+ as a DH over 115 PAs while has a 125 wRC+ when playing LF over 846 PAs. And for additional context, his wRC+ was 70 when DHing last year in 77 plate appearances and 117 when playing LF over 154 PAs. This doesn’t mean Eloy wouldn’t be successful as a full-time DH, but I’m not sure it’s as simple as everyone is making it out to be. There is real risk that he struggles with a DH role.
  18. Of those two I’m taking Conforto. I’m not against bringing Rodon back, but he’s the definition of a high risk player.
  19. Fuck Tom Ricketts…what a tone deaf douchebag.
  20. He seems to love it on the south side so I’d say he would if the money is equal.
