  1. Yup, Escobar batting somewhere behind Grandal makes Yasmani much more valuable because you don’t need two hits from the slap factory to knock him in now.
  2. Because rumors are always worth discussing and if he’s wrong we can ridicule him last last trade deadline. But there is a lot of smoke out there of our potential interest in him.
  3. Also, total guess, but feels like Konner Pilkington would be involved in an Escobar deal. He’s advanced enough to be semi-interesting to the D-Backs, but not part of the immediate depth chart of the Sox.
  4. I said it in another thread, but I’d love including Kole Calhoun in a potential deal to help offset some of the prospect cost. He’s obviously a total wild card but would provide some depth at both RF & DH. Given how bad Eaton has been and Yermin & Vaughn’s struggles against RHP, another lefty power bat in the mix would be ideal.
  5. Just created a thread on that ?
  6. Cishek seems to be implying something is close here
  7. For all rumors Escobar. Let’s start with this one:
  8. It’s going to happen...just too perfect of a fit.
  9. And rocking Frazier in RF & Madrigal at 2B next year wouldn’t help matters.
  10. This lineup tonight is going to make it very challenging to come back and win this game. Hopefully they surprise and up three while Lynn can hold them to two.
  11. As much as I’m intrigued by Krogman & Gladney, I think it’s pretty clear that Rodriguez & Ramos are the top two position playing prospects on Kannapolis. Rodriguez has hit all year as a newly turned 20 year old and things are finally starting to click for 19 year old Ramos. Over his last eight games coming into tonight he had an 11.4% BB rate, 14.3% K rate, & .267 ISO. And tonight he went 1/3 with two BBs and no Ks. Weaver is another kid who has started to make strides as of late. Since May 30th, he’s put up a ridiculous 16.2% BB rate and .333 ISO. The K rate has actually improved a ton but has remained too high during this stretch at 27.0%. I honestly don’t know much about his defense, but Callis had him as 70 grade runner coming out of the draft. If the defense matches his speed, then perhaps this is a kid who should be getting a lot more attention.
  12. Thompson is 20 years old and has almost no minor league experience, so maybe slow your roll here?
  13. Yup, we can’t afford to get overly cocky because we are beating up a garbage Tigers team. Kudos for getting the job done though and credit to La Russa for managing to give his core guys some rest. Beating up on a weak AL Central is critical with so many injuries, but now comes the real test. I think the cracks in the offense will a show a bit more against the better AL teams, but hopefully our rotation will give us a chance to win most games.
  14. Iglesias & Hudson (if healthy) are both names I like.
  15. Don’t get me wrong, I want Leury to be successful as he’s potentially very valuable given his ability to play a lot of positions fairly well. He’s simply got to hit more IMO (especially against RHP) or else his offense is negating the impact of his versatility. Just my opinion.
  16. Jerry is making out like a bandit this year after going cheap this offseason and with fans now allowed in the park in high numbers. Hahn has already indicated we’ll have the ability to take on money at the deadline and I bet our financial flexibility has only improved since he made those comments.
  17. They really should shut down Eaton for a month and give Sheets a look.
  18. Agree to disagree here. He’s got to be much better with the bat than he’s been so far. The versatility isn’t worth much of anything when he’s hitting at sub replacement player levels.
  19. Clearly he reads Soxtalk and is fucking with us ?
  20. Marte typically hits 20 HRs in a full season and has a career .344 OBP. That’s a huge upgrade over the mess that is RF at the moment.
  21. So Tony is resting all his core guys but somehow refuses to play Vaughn against righties?
  22. So the Sox Machine guys were speculating on what it might take to get Adam Frazier and Nelson through out Kelley, Thompson, & Rodriguez. Margalus said he felt two of those three would be enough. Either way, no fucking thanks. Frazier is a nice little player, but that’s a massive price for a good not great player IMO. And don’t get me wrong, it’s not a totally unfair ask, but it’s move that reeks of desperation and would likely come back to haunt us one day. If at all possible, we should hold off dealing those three along with Dalquist, Ramos, Gladney, & Krogman (and potentially a few others). Let them continue to build up their value this year and save them as future trade chips or possible reinforcements down the road. I still maintain that rentals are the way to go and I think we have quite a few interesting arms that could help get us what we need. Pilkington, Bilous, McClure, Carranza, Johnson, Freeman, Schilling, & Horn are all guys that would likely be of interest to other teams. I would look to move them along first obviously before considering the next tier of prospects in Lambert, Burdi, Sheets, & Burger. I’d also try to cash in on Rutherford, Gonzalez, & Adolfo, but not sure how much value they have right now. Regardless, I think we can shop in the rental section without giving up Cespedes, Stiever, or the key A Ball prospects and that would be a huge win for us in the long-run.
  23. Awesome...thanks for the update James!
