  1. Wow, Schwarber got $10M...that’s slightly more than he was projected to get in arbitration.
  2. Eager to see the terms of this. While we needed a RF, I just have a feeling the Eaton deal will look like an overpay when all is said and done this offseason and this Schwarber deal may support that.
  3. Maybe on par with the Rays? They just lost two of their best starters and will be taking a step backwards next year. The A’s are going to lose Hendriks & possibly Semien. Honestly, the only team that I’d argue is above us in the AL is the Yankees and that’s assuming they bring back LeMahieu and add more pitching. We are clearly in the mix for the 2nd best team right now and could jump with another few moves. The path to the World Series is wide open for us and while hopefully we haven’t peaked yet, we should not a waste a year of this core. We need to start taking some risk, even if we aren’t at the “all-in” point just yet.
  4. In four years we’ll still have a ton of guys under contract and some financial flexibility with Abreu, Grandal, & Keuchel’s sizable salaries off the books. I agree we need to start going for it and sacrificing some future value to win now, but we are still at least a year away from making what I’d call “all-in” moves that could shorten the window. After this season, we should have a much better indication of what we have in Kopech, Cease, & hopefully Crochet. If even two of those three guys can develop into high-end starters it would likely extend our window another couple years, with or without Giolito in place. Anyways, my point is simply don’t do things that blatantly hurt our chances to win in 2024 & 2025 by taking on a ton of potential dead money or emptying your prospect cupboards. If you think Hendriks’s contract is fairly likely to be a waste in the second half of it, then don’t give him four years and move in another direction. If you think he will age more graciously and maintain some usefulness towards the end then get a deal done. I’m personally willing to roll the dice on a four year deal with him if push comes to shove, but we shouldn’t automatically operate as if this is the peak and completely ignore the future. IMO, there has to be some level of balance between prioritizing winning now and giving you a strong chance to win later.
  5. To be fair, few free agents have signed yet, so there is zero reason to rush into making a four year offer in this market.
  6. Except Hendriks is awesome and you can’t look past his career stats for some reason
  7. Would the Mariners even want Madrigal with Long & Moore?
  8. Amazing!
  9. Balta also said something similar. And I fully agree we have a real police problem in this country, but I’m also going to defend the good ones who protected our democracy Wednesday from being lumped in as being complicit with the insurrection from a pair of keyboard warriors.
  10. Wow...now I’m giving the police carte blanche to commit murder because I’m defending some of the police who stood up to domestic terrorists despite their own leadership hanging them out to dry.
  11. Lol...I can’t say “all cops aren’t bad” to defend the good ones at the Capitol from two people who actually think all cops are bad.
  12. Balta’s agenda is entirely relevant when he’s trying to suggest all or most cops were complicit in this case.
  13. What am I missing here?
  14. Easy bro...I was only teasing. Unfortunately for people who have shared stuff in the past, it’s sometimes hard to read what’s their speculation vs. what they’re actually hearing. Apologies if my post came off as aggressive and definitely don’t let me stop you from posting. I appreciate you or anyone for that manner sharing anything they hear, even if it’s secondhand.
  15. The way they went about announcing his exit was very telling. The front office clearly wanted to move in a new direction due a lack of development from our young arm and most likely fundamentally different views on pitching.
  16. Honestly, I really don’t think much. And that’s fantastic news because Katz doesn’t have to be God’s gift to pitching to greatly improve these guys. I truly believe small changes will have big payoffs.
  17. Jake Burger thoughts? Any chance he can play 2B with his newfound athleticism?
  18. Lol...now I get it, you simply don’t know anything about Balta and his endless need to exaggerate everything to serve his political agenda. Luckily he’s got you here to protect him from my “fallacial arguing” ?
  19. First off, I am not talking about all cops, just the ones that were at the Capitol. No idea why you keep saying this and claiming I’m making some “strawman” (WTF), but it’s getting a little creepy. Second, the only thing “pathetic” as of late was your ridiculously stupid interpretation of FIP.
  20. I thought he claimed a trade with the Cubs was happening the night the Lynn trade went down. Not sure if that was before or after the foodies claimed something was close.
  21. Didn’t he literally say he had heard a trade was materializing with the Cubs a few weeks back?
  22. Amazing article. I posted this in another thread, but it definitely supports the notion of Cease missing glove side with his 4 seamer.
  23. To be fair, I don’t think he’s saying we would do that but rather it’s what smarts teams would do to minimize prospect cost.
  24. Are you somehow an insider or just trying to vaguely play one?
