  1. Define “baseball people” because the guy who hired Chris Young to be GM and still ultimately runs the Rangers’ baseball operations probably does not meet your definition.
  2. Oh no doubt, the core should theoretically be top three in baseball, but the leftover farm system will be very weak without substantial growth from the young guys targeted for A ball next year (a lot of which you just named) or the older guys with question marks who will start at AA or AAA (such as Burger, Adolfo, Rutherford, Sheets, Pilkington, & McClure).
  3. 100% it’s a top 10 farm at the moment because very few systems have a top four like ours. The problem is that will change in like six months and suddenly the system will be bottom 10 baring some breakout performances next year.
  4. I originally had Vera 10th, but am super high on Burdi’s talent and think he has a chance to be a special reliever if he has can learn to harness his stuff. But yeah, it’s a great top 10 for now, but the first four guys will likely lose eligibility at some point next season and we’ll definitely need a few of our younger prospects to step up.
  5. I just saw this on Twitter, but we’re potentially getting Cespedes cheaper than Yogurt Sanchez. That’s pretty fucking nuts when you think about the difference in hype and talent.
  6. Obviously not directed at me, but I’d have him ranked 5th right between Madrigal & Kelley. Andrew Vaughn Micheal Kopech Garrett Crochet Nick Madrigal Yoelki Cespedes Jared Kelley Jonathan Stiever Matthew Thompson Andre Dalquist Zack Burdi
  7. Pretty disgusting guidance by the Chairman but ultimately not that surprising, especially when you consider the Bulls’ track record of selling 2nd round picks.
  8. @Y2Jimmy0 - Any sense if this is true? Seems far fetched Colas would wait another year to sign with the Sox, but then again maybe there are no teams left willing to pay what he’s looking for?
  9. Early Christmas gift for us White Sox fans!
  10. I don’t see the need to give up a ton of assets for Castillo now that we have Lynn.
  11. Unfortunately we’re probably stuck with him for the next three years.
  12. What a strange parallel, but at least it’s an improvement from the serial child molester comparison you made previously.
  13. Yeah, it kind of sucks for the PR department that they have to try to justify this hiring in the wake of this shit when we all know Jerry is the only one who wants Tony here.
  14. Not sure if this is what you were looking for, but he did say this at the teleconference:
  15. A ton or you may as well just sign Bauer as Joey is owed $95M over the next four seasons.
  16. Lol...so basically he gets 20 hours of community service for his second DUI. What a fucking joke.
  17. Why do you feel compelled to post such garbage?
  18. ?...lol at the idea of me threatening you. This is an anonymous message board and you’re the admin, what in the world could I do? For the love of god go get help because these can’t be real statements. They’re literally getting crazier and crazier by the post.
  19. Also, I think the correct answer is:
  20. I loved me some Ray Durham growing up.
  21. Fucking Padres...hopefully we can steal Richards back from them then.
  22. Honestly, I’m more worried that Jerry views either of these guys as unnecessary additions at this time and allocates the $2M towards major league needs. I’m sure that’s just me being pessimistic, but until a signing is announced or at least leaked like Vera I will be irrationally nervous. In terms of upside, don’t both guys have fairly high ceilings? My understanding is Cespedes is a legit five tool talent who can play CF and has recently flashed semi-intriguing power potential. And while Colas may have a questionable hit tool, it seems like the arm, speed, & power are all plus, especially now that he’s back in elite shape. Do you feel those takes are off? Honestly, if we signed either guy I think they’d instantly be top 100 prospects, sliding in between Madrigal and Kelley in organizational rankings (I have our top three as Vaughn, Kopech, & Crochet).
  23. Appreciate the additional context there. I’m just glad to hear that at one point there was a certain degree of confidence in landing one of the two. At this point that’s all we can ask for, but not landing either of them would certainly be a huge blow given all the advantages we have at the moment in terms of remaining pool dollars, organizational desirability, and a wide open spot in RF for the foreseeable future. Hopefully I’m just being pessimistic, but it’s easy to assume the worst when it comes to LatAm signings with a Jerry Reinsdorf led organization.
