Either way as much as anyone wants to claim he was not very good at short stop and his bat took a dip (injury related or not it doesn’t matter). Find someone who is at least good defensively at SS till you make a decision on when and where you put Montgomery when he comes up (hopefully in 2025)

I think most of the additions will be very frustrating as I believe they are punting on 2024 knowing they have no shot right now but will try to appease Sox fans and Jerry by signing 1-2 year stop gap veterans to plug their holes on the cheap until they get some talent back on the roster

The team is not going to be good. They are going into a season with a rotation of Cease, Kopech (for now) Scholtens and Touki. It doesn’t matter who your SS and 2B are at this point

I see them signing some cheap defensive short stop like Isiah Kiner-Falefa. Someone who will be cheap but can be a stop gap until they get Montgomery more seasoned

Carlos Santana sounds like a Grifol signing. Former ties to the Royals and will be a cheap DH option so right in the Sox wheelhouse and would be one person would could take a walk, something this team knows nothing about.

And this is exactly why if you are the Whitesox you should have waited until the end of the year to see who was available and do external interviews to make sure you brought in the best qualified GM

I think JR is so used to failures within his organization that he truly believes that at this point. Hell his previous GM hasn’t been able to evaluate players at 2B and RF in over a decade now.
