QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 04:53 PM) He's going to have to be a reliever. I wouldn't be to upset if he can be a lefty set-up man. That's the main thing that disappoints me is his projection to the bullpen.
-
QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 04:49 PM) No-hitter broken up. Eat a bag of dicks, Curt. God I f***ing hate him. Couldn't have said it better myself.

Time for a Mark Ellis walk off dong
-
f*** yes, thank you Stewart.
-
f***ing f*** f*** f*** I hate Schilling. Gonna be hilarious when his no no is talked about for 3 months and Buehrle's lasted about 2 days.
-
Sucks that Jackson got taken. Sounded like a damn solid SS prospect which we could desperately use, but it wasn't worth reaching for him at 25.

QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 04:34 PM) I should keep a stat track in the minors of Poreda and Porcello (if he does sign) just to keep everyone happy. Not necessary. It will be tracked plenty.
-
QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 04:32 PM) I never said that. But the negative, the Sox suck, the manger sucks, the gm sucks none stop daily vibe around here is bulls***. Of course it sucks, but look at what is going on with this team right now, what can you expect?
-
QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 04:28 PM) Im starting to think that. Yes, pull out the bad fan card and that you are the superior Sox fan. That will be f***ing hilarious.
-
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 04:27 PM) I should also add -- if this Poreda goes on to do great things while Porcello dwindles in the wind, I promise I'll be the first one to say "hey, I was wrong". It certainly wouldn't be the first time. Looking at everything I've read and heard about Porcello, though, I don't know how you can't love just about everything about him. Smart as hell, projectability, great stuff, great command... A-f***ing-men.

QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 04:22 PM) Pal, I have a clue. I think having a player with a plus fastball with an excellent chance of signing with a good upside is better than wasting a pick so you can get another pick next year...which is your concept. You need a clue. There is no wasting the pick. What part of that don't you get?
-
QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 04:21 PM) So...it's ok to have NO pick this year to get the same pick next year??? This makes ZERO sense...ZERO. Yes it is ok, because chances are it doesn't even come to that. Chances are you sign the best mother f***ing high school pitcher in this draft. BUT in the chance that he doesn't sign you hardly lose anything...
-
QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 04:18 PM) You approve of wasting a first round pick instead of picking the pitcher we got????...and Kenny's the bad GM, eh? BUT YOU ARENT DEFINITELY LOSING IT. Best case scenario: You sign the best high school pitcher in the draft. Worse case scenario: You can't sign him and you get the same pick the following year. And I would put my money on the best case panning out, but even in the event that it doesn't, all you lose is one year of development on one player.
-
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 04:14 PM) So you lose a year of developing a player. That also takes a year away from making that player a valuable trading chip. So did all the teams before us make a pick that was better than the Tigers? I would sacrifice that year as part of a gamble for Porcello. It is all part of a gamble that the Sox are certainly in a position to take.
-
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 04:08 PM) The upside isn't the point. What good is selecting a guy if he's not a lock to sign or you know it will be difficult? You select him, take your chances signing him, and if you don't you get the pick next year.
-
QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 03:55 PM) Crap!!! Why didn't Kenny Williams pick him?!? Fire him!!! (just trying to fit in) C'mon ribbie, I love you man but you aren't making a lot of sense today. I understand that SoxTalk is as you portray it the majority of the time but the draft thread today has actually been pretty balanced.
-
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 03:49 PM) Yes they are. Their owner owns a pizza franchise. It's a s***ty pizza, but it still brings in a ton of dough. And we're so damn poor we can't take a chance and splooge some money on a ridiculously high upside draft choice?
-
And it's not like the Tigers are so much more f***ing wealthy than the Sox.
-
f***ing Detroit is just stacked right now, this is what happens when you have balls
-
Disappointing but I guess there is something you can work with there...
-
A 1 pitch reliever whose k rates aren't even that good?
