Gas stations would be screwed. They are essential so they'd have to stay open for all the people still going to work/making deliveries/etc... Yet they make very little money on the actual sale of gas. They get by mostly on the sale of the stuff inside the store. They don't have websites, curbside pickup or instacart delivery services.

I remember when I was in HS there were a lot of days I would have zero homework. I got mostly B's and C's so 20 minutes of homework sounds about right. I was there for about 6.5 hours and I'd say at least 50% of it was filled with stuff like lunch, gym class, passing periods, sitting in class taking attendance or in some elective class like shop or keyboarding (early 90's) or a computer class where there was little to no homework. The other 50% was sitting in a class listening to the teacher and learning/memorizing a few things long enough to pass the test and them forgetting them later on. Now in the real world my job is literally pass/fail. Either I do my job correctly or I don't have a job anymore. If I have questions or don't know how to do something I "cheat" by asking someone else for help or looking up a solution online.

Considering the complete lack of leadership in this country, are you really surprised?

Also what do you do with the special needs kids that are highly unlikely to wear a mask or keep it on all day?

I'm the exact opposite. I've never owned a pickup and can't imagine the need for one. I had a Suburban for many years and just recently went down to a Chevy Traverse. It's much more common for me to haul people/kids/dogs than it is for me to haul mulch, plywood or trailers. And I can fit 8 people in there. Even though I do own a 5th wheel its only been towed 3 times since I've owned it and currently sits on a permanent site. It went from the dealer to our first CG (dealer towed it), then a year later it went to a second CG (CG owner towed it for us) then finally to it's current place (we just hired a guy to tow it for us). We rent a u-haul trailer to tow our golf cart back and forth at the beginning and end of each season but the Traverse handles that just fine.

The latest Apple IOS update has an app through Google that you can voluntarily turn on. If you test positive its supposed to alert others close to you. Of course this all relies on people a) volunteering this information and b) using the app. Also people are just now finding it on social media and think it's some big brother conspiracy even though it was all over the news a month ago.

Buses are going to be a bigger problem. Especially the smaller buses that transport the special-needs kids. Many of whom will likely not wear a mask or keep it on. My mom works for a company that does exactly that except they use suburbans. Normally they can hold 8 or 9. With any sort of distancing they'll be lucky to fit more than 2.- 2020 Catch-All

I agree. You can do all that stuff from home over a video-chat.- 2020 Catch-All
There's no doubt in my mind that all started with some troll post on some website like 4Chan or something and somebody saw it and thought they were being serious. Then it just grew from there.- George Floyd Thread
You're stupid idea has been burned to the ground by several people. I don't know why you ignore them and continue to bring it up.- George Floyd Thread

That's probably right. I just remember people always talking about the Robert Taylor homes being visible from the upper deck in New Comiskey before they were torn down. That's the only reason I knew. Not trying to take anything away from your story though. I would probably be the same way. Our neighbor's have been letting off fireworks almost every night for the last week or so for some reason and one night my wife asked me if they were fireworks or gunshots. I said fireworks and she was like "How would you even know what gunshots sound like?" She has a point. It's not something we hear in our neighborhood, like ever.- George Floyd Thread
The Robert Taylor Homes were much farther south. Across from the Sox park.- George Floyd Thread
The story seems suspect. I don't know what that stretch of road looks like but I'm finding it hard to believe it didn't realize he wasn't supposed to be there and didn't see the 100's of people standing in the middle of the road until the last second. From one of the articles you posted:- George Floyd Thread
All you have to do is scroll up just a few posts to the post that StrangeSox made. That's a FRACTION of the videos I've seen over the past week. I could spend hours posting stuff I've seen. They are attacking people walking home with groceries that weren't even part of the protesting/looting/rioting, reporters, medical personnel, children, people simply standing on their front porch or balcony... So no, I don't think 1000s is an underestimate. I don't think de-funding them means there would be less of them. It just means they don't all need to be equipped like militarily soldiers. Maybe that money would be better spent on better training? Teach them how to deescalate situations instead of doing the exact opposite? And no, it's not okay to shoot police because thousands are taking things too far. But something needs to be done. They don't even care that they are being filmed doing the things they are doing because they know there will be no consequences for their actions.- George Floyd Thread
So you don't think the 1000s of officers caught on 100s of videos attacking unarmed protesters and escalating situations are a huge part of the problem?- COVID-19/Coronavirus thread

I keep reading on Facebook that the CDC has said that the mortality rate is now down to 0.2%. Of course nobody actually fact-checks anything on FB so, does anyone know where this number might be coming from?
