  1. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 06:38 PM) I'm not disagreeing with you, but unless they lose the last 33 games of the season, KW will be back next year, guaranteed. I think he would still be back. He's Jerry's boy. Guillen tested that last year.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 06:23 PM) That's your argument for firing KW this off-season? It's not going to fly. You might as well rest until the end of 2013...and make another set of arguments. Everyone knew Dayan was a work in progress when we first signed him. The fact that he's been forced to play 3B, 1B, RF and then LF should be enough testament to his defensive development track alone. They just need to let him play. Nobody knows about Danks...and Nathan Jones overall compared to where he was 1-2 years ago in the minors, nobody expected him to make the impact he has. If he went on the waiver wire tomorrow, every team in the majors would claim him. I have no complaints with Viciedo this season. There was unrealistic expectations starting last year that he was going to save the season. I thought he was going to be a butcher in the outfield and he's done quite well and a helluva arm.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 09:16 PM) Yep, like Flowers trying to steal Still can't believe the lack of bunting. It will be interesting if Hawk/Stone comment on it tomorrow. That ball almost went into CF. Too bad he's slow and didn't get the best jump. The old grindy Twins in the baggie dome would probably give the current Tiger's team fits. They would beat the ball in the ground and capitalize on poor defense.
  4. I actually liked the line up. There was more speed. If they get on it exposes that Tiger D. But you have to get on base.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 09:07 PM) What were the Sox 2-3-4-5 hitters this series as compared to the Tigers? That was the difference this weekend. and for the season with 3 and 4.
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 09:06 PM) Hudson hit the ball pretty hard. But in the wrong place.
  7. I really don't want to see Orlando Hudson anymore.
  8. Lucky Valverde only has to face the Sox for an inning.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 08:53 PM) AJ is not going to react well if he's the last out and Valverde is dancing on the mound. AJ needs to go away for about a week.
  10. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 08:44 PM) I just remembered, Breaking Bad is on right now. This night just got so much better, f*** baseball. I like Hell on Wheels, Mad Men. I haven't got into Breaking Bad yet. They ruin Sunday with that Small Town Security.
  11. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 08:47 PM) My thought is that there is hardly a more important game in which we are losing...so if they think Brett is the best chance for us to stay close and win, I'm not mad about it. Just don't do it against the Twins tomorrow. It's called surrender.
  12. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 08:45 PM) Kenny has a particular hard on for this type of pitcher. We have had two of his clones on his team picked up by Kenny. He also has bad luck with quality NL talent transitioning to the AL.
  13. QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 08:44 PM) Detroit isn't 41-26 at home for no reason (about to be 42-26)..they're a great home team. The Sox are a .500 road team but terrible at Comerica. I'm not sure how expectations could have been anything but a sweep, perhaps 1 of 3, considering we were facing Verlander and a hot Scherzer in this series (I predicted they'd win Fri night). I'm not sweating this sweep too much...it is what it is. While winning a game or two would have done wonders for the Sox, the odds were greatly against them. We've proven we're a good team and will bounce back from his dreadful road trip. Peavy managed to prove he's not worth the money won a CY in an off year for pitchers.
  14. QUOTE (Caesar @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 08:43 PM) Trust me. I have more gambling knowledge in my little finger than you do in your entire body. Piss poor job of proving it.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 08:39 PM) I can't believe the Sox thought Septimo was a better option as a LOOGY all year than Veal. Cooper can be fallible. How long did it take for them to figure out Tony Pena sucked?
  16. QUOTE (Caesar @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 08:59 AM) * Judging by the line Vegas opened this game at, they believe Sale is out of gas too. Not looking goood. But, who knows. You have no clue how Vegas does things. They look at history of team performance on Sunday nights, home or away, scheduling and tons of other things.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 08:29 PM) I was way angrier in 2005 with the Indians charging hard and when the team was throwing away games in 2006 and 2010 (the Thome game). I flat out believe Tigers are the better, deeper team now. No shame in that, but I know a lot of people don't believe they're the better team. 3+4th guys are leaders in about every hitting category Congrats to Fielder for making quick transition to the AL.
  18. QUOTE (Caesar @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 08:28 PM) Because they have been leading this division pretty much all year. They choked in Baltimore and have continued to in Detroit. Its a pattern with this team. That is hard to ignore. The difference is it's Sept. and they aren't the usual 6+ games out.
  19. Right now the NL has to be pretty boring. The tightest race is 4 games.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 08:23 PM) You know I've been all for shuffling the lineup, but who's even worthy of being moved up in the order? Rios has struggled ever since the league realized he destroys anything on the inner half. Let's have De Aza and Wise PH for everyone.
  21. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 08:21 PM) I remember when we swept the Rangers and the Yankees. Fun times. They didn't just sweep the Rangers, they embarrassed them.
  22. Hudson to Beckham is like ESPN to Hawk. You actually start to miss them.
  23. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 08:12 PM) Paulie has looked pathetic for most of the year besides that one month he was ridiculously hot. He used to get clutch hits all the time, whats wrong with him? He's just being Paulie. At least it's not one of those season long slumps.
  24. Oh well, poor hitting puts a lot of stress on a young starter.
