  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 02:26 PM) Wasn't Hudson the tying run last night? During the series, Valverde looked like the weak link of their pen.
  2. Looks like a 3 team race in the East now. After the Sox facing Scherzer and V. tonight should look like batting practice.
  3. The Sox also need to put an end to blown saves.
  4. After watching the Tigers for two weeks when they lose, they make it close. With the Sox it seems some games the concede to a loss and want to start over the next day. That could be that Cabrera and Fielder are hitting so well, it creates a lot of pressure for other teams.
  5. That Clev pitcher should thank Prince for keeping that in the park.
  6. QUOTE (Baron @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 02:04 PM) What a huge base running blunder Not surprised it involved Lillibridge. He's one of the dumbest players on the bases.
  7. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 02:00 PM) I know we faced their better pitchers, but doesn't this just make you want to scream: WE COULDN'T WIN ONE f***ING GAME THERE!!! I guess it's an oddity in baseball. The Sox lit up Texas this year.
  8. Tigers are so fundamentally flawed. Reminds me of some of the White Sox teams.
  9. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 01:57 PM) Is it just me or does it feel like Detroit has played 100 home games? 102 to be exact.
  10. Maybe Dotel can put up one of them patented mental midget performances like he did with the Sox.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 01:53 PM) YAY. Lillibridge. Strange season when he's making plays to help us down the stretch...at a position he might be a legit candidate to play on the Sox if we can't bring YOUK back. I guess not unlike Jayson Nix. So you'll see Sipp against Fielder, then Smith for final 2 outs, one would guess. Don't have many options outside of Youk. Morel still sucks at hitting.
  12. QUOTE (Baron @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 01:47 PM) They were talking about the poor defense.Which has cost them a few runs today. Plus they have been very up and down. Seem to take all the momentum they gain and flush it down the toilet. They are probably easier to run against.
  13. QUOTE (Baron @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 01:42 PM) Ive been enjoying Clevelands broadcast actually. They were just discussing how Detroit has great upside but also has alot of lows. Basically what everyone that wasnt in meltdown mode yesterday was talking about. What were those lows that they mentioned? If you think about it, the pressure is more on them.
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 01:34 PM) DET announcers complaining about Sanchez' performance with them this year....leaving way too many balls up in the zone, control/command, etc. I really like the Tigers broadcast. They keep you interested in the game most of the time and they educate with stats. Miles above the ESPN broadcast of last night. Nice peg by the Clev catcher on Infante.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 01:17 PM) If Cleveland wins, Ceasar will be doing his crying elsewhere the rest of his life. Wasn't that also dependent upon a Sox win?
  16. A nice Morrisey article. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/14895611-41...x-just-yet.html
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 12:57 PM) I think it is lazy reporting. What next? the yankees outdrew the mets? I guess a new stadium will do that.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 12:57 PM) I think it is lazy reporting. What next? the yankees outdrew the mets? I wish I could remember but I think it was Ed Farmer who mentioned something about Sox/Cub attendance during to 2005 celebration. It was very witty.
  19. QUOTE (spiderman @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 12:01 PM) The fact is - in August, Dunn and Rios have struggled, and Peavy/Sale haven't been able to beat Detroit. Imagine if Cabrera and Fielder struggled all of August. Where would they be now?
  20. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 11:55 AM) I don't disagree with this statement. It's one thing for Jake to talk to himself during a game for motivation, but when he chimes in about how he is looking forward to pitching the big game and then blows it that's a different story I don't mind that either. He should want to go back out there after failure. It's just the other stuff he's. The over hype has become over kill. Gavin Floyd has been more reliable in 3 years than Peavy. Showing up is important. Staying healthy is part of a players responsibility. Jake has only won 15 or more twice in his career. Mark B. did that his first 4 years. I still think wins are part of the equation. Maddux won 20 on some losing Cub teams. That's what real aces do. They win even on bad teams. It's not all them but the confidence they put in a team when they are on the mound. Chris Sale will be an ace. He probably is now. Hopefully the handle him the same way next year.
  21. Cleveland 2-1. I have no faith in that. Are they close to being Astro's bad yet?
  22. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 11:24 AM) Chicago is a loser town. Of course they would support the Cubs. Only the normal people support the White Sox. I guess that article would imply there are less normal people. I have no idea what the fan base is with the Bulls but winning a lot seems to buy you a lot of future fans. You see kids with Jordan jerseys that weren't born when he played.
  23. QUOTE (MuckFinnesota @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 10:54 AM) Just read an article by Ted Gregory about the Cubs outdrawing the Sox: Cubs outdraw Sox (nothing new) What do you guys think about this? Thanks for posting this. carborough's research also shows that nearly 40 percent of adults who attend Cubs game are college graduates Most college grads these days are sheeple. You have to wonder how forgiving a fan base is when Einhorn put them on a seclusive channel. Wirtz alienated a fan base and I really don't know if they have recovered. The organization lost out on an opportunity when Cubs did day games. Pursuing the superstation WGN should have been ther goal instead of Sportsvision or whatever it was. You also wonder how things would have turned out if the Sox went to Schaumburg. Maybe people feel where Wrigley is located is less threatening than the Cell. Which is sad and ignorant. In August, Chicago is a Bears town and it has nothing to do with how good or bad they are. I think a lot of it has to do with fans not trusting Sox ownership. People have joked about the Sox running like a 3rd market team in a 1st market city.
  24. If you look at Peavy's career stats he's no #54. Note to Kenny-no more $$$ on NL talent.
