  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 10:54 PM) This racist stuff is really really bad. There's a story in the Trib online tonight where Bradley's mom said he was concerned his 3 year old heard racist comments. Are Cub fans animals? This racist stuff is really bad and sad. I mean what are they yelling at Bradley?? If they are calling him the N word, they should be removed immediately and prosecuted. What other racist chants are there?? The charge could be inciting a riot or something. Or they should be banned from all Cub games forever. Of course if look at the other side of the coin. I guess there are no black Cub fans. When all else fails.........draw the race card. Why is it when the N-word is heard, it's assumed the some white person said it? Sounds like a reversed prejudice.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 10:50 PM) Then again, the modern ballplayer probably doesn't care if the owner is pissed at them. They can go get a job with another team if they are veterans with track records. They can also play like s*** or even refuse to play and still collect their money.
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 07:49 PM) Who in the world would want Milton Bradley poisoning their team? I find it funny that someone would even start a thread like this.
  4. When any player's performance drops tremendously I start to suspect roids.
  5. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 08:48 PM) At the time when we didn't sign Uribe I thought we were making a mistake. He might have wanted 2 0r 3 million, but he stabilized the defense and we needed that real bad. HE would have been worth it when we had to endure Josh "can't" Fields at 3rd. Not many look back at the beginning of the season when games were given away because of over all s***ty play.
  6. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 08:05 PM) I wonder what Walker has done to pull Dye out of his 3 month slump. Walker needs to go as well.
  7. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 07:18 PM) Did JD turn a single into a triple? Ugh... Ugh! Suck at the plate and compliment it by sucking with the glove. Good thing the Colts are on.
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 09:25 AM) interesting that Hendry is man enough to do this now, with 12 games left, rather than 3 months ago when it all started. Nothing he said to the herald is any different then what he has been saying all season Hendry needs to go. He's made a lot of bad contracts.
  9. I think the owners need to tell the MLBPA to go screw themselves. They need to get away from guaranteed contracts. Milton Bradley still gets his $30M.
  10. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 20, 2009 -> 10:05 PM) exactly why I do not want Thornton as our closer, much more valuable as a 7th-8th inning guy multiple times per weak than a closer who will go once over a 10 day span sometimes. I agree. I'm am worried about Thornton for next season. As much as they had to use him this season, I'm surprised his arm hasn't fallen off.
  11. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Sep 20, 2009 -> 05:32 PM) Just seen this on MLBTR....I wouldn't do this deal. The latest from John Perrotto of Baseball Prospectus: Seems like pure speculation, but a Jake Peavy for Carlos Zambrano deal this offseason would not surprise some in Chicago. Someone needs a new crack dealer. Cooper was pretty vocal about Zambrano. Why trade a Cy Young for a Cy Young wannabee?
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 20, 2009 -> 06:36 PM) I'd rather have rios. But Zambrano is a better hitter. Could he play the outfield?
  13. QUOTE (tommy @ Sep 20, 2009 -> 11:40 PM) I understand everyone gave up already but if we managed to sweep the Twins and then Tigers at home, we could end up 1st before the final six game of the season. So I guess it is one of the most important games for the Sox this season. Go ahead and tell me to keep on dreaming. That's the thing. We keep looking at Detroit but you have to pass the Twins.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 20, 2009 -> 09:12 PM) Carrasco also pitched two days ago, so he was out anyway. I wonder how far into the game they let Hudson go? Well if he were to pitch against the Sox, at least 8 shut out innings since the Sox can't hit minor league pitching.
  15. Friday on the SCORE, during B&B, they mentioned Dye may be bad enough to put himself back on the team.
  16. QUOTE (tommy @ Sep 20, 2009 -> 03:58 PM) Maybe we should have Kotsay PH for Dye with bases loaded. I'd even take chances with Wise PH for Dye.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 20, 2009 -> 03:48 PM) Ozzie sure thank his stars he still has a job. This team is bad and no manager can change that.
  18. QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Sep 20, 2009 -> 03:32 PM) I hope, after the year, that we find out Jermaine had some kind of terrible injury. I'd have a hard time believing it.
  19. QUOTE (son of a rude @ Sep 20, 2009 -> 01:51 PM) Rios should have killed that pitch =\ He needs to change his stance. He's not going to add any distance swinging on his tip toes.
  20. So how did Peavy look last night?
  21. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Sep 20, 2009 -> 11:20 AM) Not bad. I hope that translates well in the future. I do too. So far it hasn't.
  22. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 19, 2009 -> 09:12 PM) Watched it and recorded it off WGN. Peavy looked good and so did the Sox hitters for a change Kinda interesting when the Sox acquired Peavy they went on a hot streak. Now that he's here, maybe they go on another one.
  23. QUOTE (striker62704 @ Sep 19, 2009 -> 09:40 PM) Heres another trade for you. Jenks and Danks for Fielder. Brewers need pitching. and..........the Sox don't need pitching? Let's see this thread started with Jenks for "prospects" to Alexi for a "quality reliever". It amazes me how fans value players. A closer is not the easiest hole to fill. Why is it that teams that have a reliable one seem to hang on to them? Pitching will always be expensive when you have to get it outside of your organization. I don't see Kenny getting rid of Jenks unless it is an outstanding deal. Then you have to fill that hole. If it's Thornton, then you lost a valuable setup man. That's another hole to fill. Also when it comes to free agency, how often do the Sox outbid anyone? Most agents seek long term contracts. The Sox don't like them. That's why they end up signing guys like Linebrink.
  24. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Sep 18, 2009 -> 10:38 AM) That station to station thing sure seems to win us a lot of games. Lose a lot of them that way too.
  25. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Sep 18, 2009 -> 10:05 AM) Bunts are so grinderesque. I simply cannot understand why statheads fail to see the grinder factor. Seriously, it's called mixing it up. There are aspects of it that cannot be measured. It's always been a part of baseball. Since we are Sox fans we can't grasp traditional baseball since we haven't seen it in years. We love our "station to station" baseball.
