Whoever predicted a 9-8 game may have severely underestimated how this one might end up!

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 07:31 PM) This team needs to regain their swagger as soon as possible. I can't believe this is our lineup tonight in the biggest game of the season. You look at that lineup, and you wonder how the heck we can compete with such a sound Twins team. And they're not even all that sound right now - they're missing Morneau!!

So that was a disaster of a series.
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 11:20 AM) Your attempt at being negative towards negative posters is equally annoying. I'm not being negative in the least bit. Just trying to put things into a better context is all. No offense intended!

QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 10:24 AM) I think the Orioles right now are better than the Mariners, and certainly better than at least 4 National League teams. The Mariners? The same Mariners who beat the mighty Yankees two outta three in a series at the end of June/beginning of July? Those Mariners? Gosh, that outcome must have sunk the Yankees season right there and then, I mean, losing a series to the lowly Mariners like that. I'll have to go check to see how they are doing, but I'm sure it's not good. They lost "a" series to a crappy team - end of season!!

White Sox (63-48) @ Orioles (37-74), 5/5 Game THREAD
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 07:53 PM) I will never really agree with bunting with Juan Pierre on first. I know what you're saying, but with a lefty on the mound, and the fact that Juan does get thrown out a little bit more than one would like, I think the bunt in this situation was warranted.

QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 07:40 PM) extras here we come. Well, thanks to the fine work by Sales and Santos, we still have Thornton and Putz to go to in this game, which gives us an advantage over the O's in those extras.

Two of our good, young pitchers keeping us in the game these past two innings. Let's hope to repay our fine pitching this evening with a nice 9th inning rally!

White Sox (63-48) @ Orioles (37-74), 5/5 Game THREAD
QUOTE (southsidepride15 @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 07:21 PM) I understand. The fact is though is that these types of series' will happen throughout a 162 season, no matter how good of a club you put out there. If the O's are just "bad" and we lose 3-4 to them then are we "bad" or "worse than bad" at 15 games over .500?? All I'm asking is that we don't expect to play .800 ball and run away with it. I want as bad as anyone to pound these teams, but since we're not, the upcoming series' with Det. and Minny are all that much more of a gut check for team called the White Sox that we're all still apparently so unsure of. Thank you - nice post!

A tip of the cap to Andruw for keeping the inning going with his two strike hit off a right hander. That was huge in the grand scheme of things, too!

That was a stake in the heart of the Detroit Tigers' 2010 season.

QUOTE (Real @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 06:57 PM) We deserve to lose this one, it's that simple But we didn't now, did we? Championship teams have a way of winning games that you think they should have lost (in the 3rd inning, no less - shame on you!). GO SOX!!!

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 08:45 PM) It's just the top of the 8th was so long. Yes, and I will admit I did not factor that as much as I probably should have when I made my proclamation that Edwin should start the 8th. Duly noted!

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 08:42 PM) Personally, I'm a HUGE believer in letting a reliever start an inning when possible. I'm usually with you on that one, Fathom. It was the pitch count and the score that lead me to think he deserved to at least face the first guy in the 8th.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 08:38 PM) Shack is 100% right here. THat was a 35 minute+ half inning after the guy had thrown 90 pitches. I see and appreciate what you guys are saying, but I still think Ozzie played it right. He gave Jackson one at-bat, which he blew with the walk, and then he yanked him. Who's to say anyone from the bullpen would have done any better with just that one batter? We just saw what Putz had on hand tonight.

Game Thread: White Sox (60-46) @ Detroit (53-53) 6:05pm CDT
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 08:31 PM) What did that prove, Ozzie? With a four-run lead, our bullpen, and EdWIN's pitch count, to my way of thinking, you absolutely give him at least one batter to continue along. He walked Cabrera, and Ozzie came and got him right away. I have no problem with rewarding Jackson with the start of the inning under those circumstances.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 08:22 PM) I guess it's one of the perks of being Out-of-Chicago Sox fans. I'm watching ESPN on TV, listening to Hawk & Stone Pony on "Extra Innings" (a half inning of Sutcliffe sent me reeling!). = D
