  1. boozer gets a 5 year $80 mil deal, that means his first year salary is around $13.8 mil, we have a little over $30 mil in cap space, so that leaves us about just enough to sign Lebron, let's hope that when the actual cap announces tonight, it won't be any less than the projected cap.
  2. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 04:49 PM) Evidently a message board rumor going around is that a Detroit station is reporting that there has been talks of a 3 way deal with the Bulls/Blazers/Pistons which would move Deng &Maxiell to Portland, Bayless/Pyrz to Detroit, and Rip to Chicago. Take it for what it is worth. Personally I don't know how that is really that great of a move? I think we need a 2 guard that can shoot long range and I don't see Rip being that guy. that only means one thing, the bulls are certain they will land lebron james, at least have a very very high chance of landing him. Lebron to the bulls!! hell yeah baby!!
  3. if lebron james so respect the culture of Cleveland, a place where he calls home, he should be be compliant with the culture of the city. Add "The Decision" to the list of the moves/events that will haunt the city for another 20 years or so.
  4. QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 01:39 PM) Man, I'm pretty pissed off about this whole situation....couple thoughts 1. Wade played Chicago, not a doubt in my mind. His interview with Wilbon where he pretty much jumbled his words so badly that he stated that his kids were important but he felt he had to leave "emotion" out of his decision.....well, either he's a cold hearted prick or he was just using his kids as a means of adding credibility to his consideration of joining the Bulls. I always thought it odd that Wade was considering the Bulls after having just badmouthed the organization for being disloyal....I guess I just looked past that in hopes of having him on our team. 2. Chris Bosh annoys me.....and the most amazing thing to me in this whole FA mess is that Chris Bosh dictated the terms for what Wade and LBJ are doing. Not sure how in the hell he managed that, but he did. 3. I actually am going to come out of this respecting Lebron more than either Bosh or Wade regardless of where he goes (the ridiculousness of the announcement show is beside the point). He's done an absolutely incredible job of keeping quiet and keeping his circle of trust small. He hasn't given interviews, mysterious tweets, etc....he's just gone about his business like a professional. Of the big3, he's shown the greatest restraint and has held his ego in check (pretty crazy for an egomaniac) 4. Paxson needs to go. He's been here for over 7 years and, outside of a lucky lottery pick, has not accomplished anything. I don't even want him canned for missing the big 3 because, from what we know, he did what he could. The thing is, what if someone else could do more than he could. 7 years is long enough to sense a trend, and for the Bulls that trend seems to be mediocrity and a difficult time recruiting talent. To think that Wade once questioned the Bulls for their loyalty, for Vinny Del Negro and such, Paxson is also the man to blame for the VDN incident and his firing.
  5. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 01:23 PM) Same answer. It has nothing to do with the Bulls or their players. http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=5361014&a...egoryid=2459788 Base on the interview with Wade and Bosh, it seems that they made their decisions base on flexibility, which Miami does hold the advantage over the Bulls. I guess Bosh told Wade that he wants to play with him, whether it’s in New York, Chicago or Miami. The Bulls already have Derrick Rose, who needs the ball in his hands to be effective, and he is cut from the same cloth as Wade is in several aspects. I guess their decision of bolting from the Bulls has to do with already having a guy like Rose on the team and doesn’t have the flexibility to sign someone else. If the Bulls only have Noah and a guy like Gallinari on the team, I could see them being a front runner for both of them So in some sense, it really has to do with who is on the team. What I also got from that interview is that it’s more apparent Lebron will not join them in Miami, because Lebron and Wade needs the ball, and signing Lebron will go against their luxury of having flexibility. Even Lebron himself might not join the two because his stats will take a big hit similar to the big three in Boston, and he be pull himself out of the G.O.A.T conversation when it’s all said and done. I believe he will choose between Cleveland, New York, Chicago, Miami, and New Jersey in that order. Probably something like Cleveland 60%, New York 20%, Chicago 10% Miami and NJ both 5%
  6. Broussard is reporting that Cavs will keep Lebron and aim to do a sign and trade for bosh. Am I being logical in thinking if Lebron and Bosh goes to Cleveland, the most logical destination for Wade is Chicago because no matter who the Heat signs along with Wade would not give them a chance to compete the Cavs or the Magic. If Wade do come to Chicago, he can help recruit a guy like Boozer or Lee to come here, and That will form a pretty good starting 5 to compete in the east, we may trade Deng and a pick away some point during this process if is a S&T, but we can sign a decent SF with the $$ saved on Deng's contract. So Bosh and Lebron teaming up could actually be good news for the bulls? Though the chances of losing both Wade and Boozer due to injuries in some point during the season is probably a lot higher than us winning the championship.
  7. Did Rose really say he prefers JJ over Lebron? Don't think so. I know Rose and JJ is a better fit, but Rose wanted Lebron here as well. Pathetic Cleveland beat writers trying to create rumors and dramas of a dysfunctional Rose Lebron relationship to turn Lebron away.
  8. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 10:21 AM) He's been in the league for more than 7 years. He can get 30% of the cap on a max. either way, he is not amare, he is older and is an inferior player to amare. A team would be crazy to hand out 30% of the cap to him. 5 year $80 mil- $85 mil is what he is worth
  9. i really think the key here is bosh, if we somehow signs Bosh first, that will give us the best chance to land wade or Lebron. Lebron or Wade returning to their former teams will not have a better cast than Bosh with the Bulls roster. if either of them are focused on winning, they would fight for the spot to sign with the bulls
  10. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 09:59 AM) The problem right now is this: Miami has room for two max contracts, we don't. If you sign Boozer now, he has options. He can go to Miami for the max, which is 30% of the cap. So he can get similar money to Amare if the Heat are truly desperate (and I think they are). So basically, you'd be overpaying for Boozer. Lee can't get 30% of the cap as a max contract, he's only been in the league for 5 years. He's keeping Boozer's value down right now since they're somewhat comparable players. I'm sure Wade would rather play with Boozer. If you can get Boozer to take less than a max and still have room for another max, you lock him down now. If not, well, just hope that Wade will come here. max contracts are different for everybody. I believe it's 105% of their last contract. In Boozer's case, it would be around $75mil/ 5 years or $93mil/6 year if he resigns with Jazz
  11. bosh will not go to Cleveland, no chance at all, he wants to play in a big market. It is rumored that Toronto GM will not work with Bosh for a sign and trade in which he will get the 6 year max deal, unless raptors get something significant in return. Cleveland can only offer Hickson. There is a great chance Bosh can go to Houston, a city to close to his home. Houston can probably offer the raptors Jordan Hill, Ariza, and Jeffries. I can see Bosh go to Miami if Wade stays there. So it's down to Houston, Miami and the Bulls for Bosh. If the bulls fail to sign the remaining big 2 I think the following scenario would still make a competitive team out of them. sign boozer for a max deal of around 14 mil. sign mike miller for 7.5 mil/year sign Matt barnes for 4 mil/year sign Jason williams for 3 mil/year Hope that Theo ratliff will sign for 1.5 mil/year the remaining spots can be veteran minimum or rookie minimum for all we care noah/ratliff boozer/taj gibson deng/james johnson miller/matt barnes rose/j will this lineup may not push us past the East, but it's a significant upgrade over last year's team, and at least we have something to show for after all the moves we've made in the past two years.
  12. the rangers were who we thought they were
  13. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 07:48 PM) It sounds like the Bulls met with Wade at the offices, Bosh arrived at some point to grab his agent for the meeting with the Bulls. Now you have to figure out whether the Bulls chatted with both or if our reps had already headed back to the UC for our next presentation. I'll take back my b****ing, seems like the Trib/CSN is on top of it. they share the same agent, so there could be a possibility both of them meet with the bulls together. looks like it gonna be Bosh and Wade in Chicago and Lebron staying in Cleveland.
  14. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 03:04 PM) And you have money left our for solid role players, or maybe another shooter like Ray Allen or Mike Miller or JJ Redick. with ray allen, mike miller or reddick along with hedo at the wing, that combination would be disastrous, no physical defenders, no athleticism, and no slashers. who is going to take the defensive load off of Rose? I will say no to Hedo and rather have deng instead, and sign Ray allen or mike miller.
  15. QUOTE (G&T @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 02:24 PM) And if Jordan actually had something good to say about the bulls. word is that Pippen hated the Bulls too for dismantling the team and trading him to Houston, but sources say he actually have a pretty healthy relationship with the team and is helping out this summer.
  16. if Jordan wasn't the new Bobcats owner, it would be interesting to see him joining the Bulls contingent to pitch to Lebron and other big name free agents. It would be awesome to have the best player in the history of the game luring you to play for his former team. though I did hear Pippen taking part in this process, but just meeting players directly.
  17. I remember 2 years ago, for a while, he changed his homerun call, I just couldn't remember what it was
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 08:00 AM) I can't believe that drew gooden deal. that's nothing compared to amir johnson who was really a nobody before this season and probably still is, got a 5 year 34 million contract. Imagine what a guy Tyrus Thomas could get. Really a bad contract by a desperate franchise. Other bad deals, Rudy gay 5 years 80 mil, and the Joe Johnson deal is outrageous, no way in hell that he deserves 6 year $120 million. That is $20 mil a year for what is really a 13-14 mil guy. That hawks are really screwing themselves in the ass.
  19. the bad guys lead two nothing, and the good guys are coming to bat that was good morning good afternoon and good night. HE GONE!! he looks up you can put it on the board Yes! YES! HELL YEA!! When the ball comes down, this ball game is OVA!!
  20. QUOTE (hitlesswonder @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 09:41 AM) .300, 30HR, 40 SB is his floor? If that were remotely true, he wouldn't have lasted until the Angels pick. If you want to criticize the Sox, rip them for their lack of investment in Latin America and not being willing to sign over slot in some drafts. The Sox were not the only team to pass on Trout. Moreover, the guy they picked instead was a high ceiling athlete with speed, power and plate discipline (who obviously had issues with Ks). Mitchell was not a safe pick. Sure, it seems likely Trout would have been a better pick, but picking Mitchell at the time is very defensible. I am not sure about Trout's signability then, but by safe pick, I meant in terms of the team's ability to sign him. I think Mitchell was an easier sign for them considering he is a college bat and Trout is only a high schooler. Isn't that one of the reasons why the Sox went with Broadway and McCulloch?
  21. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 09:15 AM) For some reason, I always thought he adored Sale, yet couldn't find things after the draft, and I thought he fell to 47 on Klaw's board only once the Sox drafted him. Just found that's not true, so yes, that was moronic. I knew Law has Sale as the 43rd prospect on his board all along, base on what he said on the report, Sale could have ranked higher if he can repeat his delivery and sustain his velocity deep into the game, and will be able to reach the majors as a starter. But he doubted it, and that's why Sale was ranked so low. But if you read the Top Prospects article, it seems pretty random how he, of all people, threw Sale's name out there and bash him for his delivery, when we didn't expect any new draftees to be on the list.
  22. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 09:02 AM) This thread certainly doesn't describe things as I remember them. Trout was seen seen as very raw coming out of HS with questions over his contact ability. He was compared to Aaron Rowand a lot because he's a grinder who wasn't thought to have great tools (above average hitter, average power). I can't remember anyone saying they wanted Trout. I certainly didn't want him. Since being drafted Trout has obviously exploded, but there's a reason why he was picked at #25. The Sox went for the higher upside guy in Mitchell (despite what the OP seems to think, Mitchell was thought of as the higher upside guy at the time) and I think you have to just call this great scouting/player development on the side of the Angels. Anyway, not sure why I'm posting in here because I do think this thread is ridiculous. Also I hate all the Keith Law bashing. I respect his opinion perhaps more than anyone else when it comes to prospect evaluating. The White Sox system doesn't get any love from him because it doesn't deserve any and it may be the worst in baseball right now. Mitchell's report http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/draft/y2009/...ontent=mitchell Trout's report http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/draft/y2009/...p?content=trout both guys have plus speed, trout has developing power, mitchell just has raw power. I believe Mitchell has more issues with his swing and tends to strike out a lot, and Trout also had better plate discipline than Mitchell. Trout was a more well rounded player with above average tools, while Mitchell was a Mike Cameron type of player, good speed and power, but has contact issues. If you respect Keith Law's opinion, I believe he had Trout as a better prospect on his board, I believe he was in the teens to twenties, while mitchell was 35 I think, and he did project Trout to go to the Sox.
  23. well if you guys give credit for what Mitchell did in 9 ST ABs, then Trout looks equally if not more impressive in ST. Base on what he did last year, and what he is doing now, what the scouts say prior to the draft, and what the scouts are saying now, doesn't he LOOK LIKE he is going to be a superstar? He is only 18 years old, he already has great plate discipline, if he develops more power, I can see he being a legit .300 30HR 40 SB guy at the very least.
  24. QUOTE (goblue5699 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 12:36 AM) Yeah, I guess a better way of putting it is that it's unfair to throw Mitchell under the bus right now. If you weren't a fan of the pick at the time and wanted Trout it's fine with me to toot your own horn, but not by complaining about Mitchell's lack of production. I wanted the Sox to get Trout before the draft last year, and still does now. I didn't say I don't like Mitchell, nor did I say he was a bad pick, I am just stating the fact that he is hurt now and Trout is teeing off in the minors. I think Mitchell will be a good major league player, but Trout looks like he's going to superstardom. I am not complaining about Mitchell at all, I am just saying I would much rather have Trout than Mitchell if I had a choice, and the Sox did have that choice. I think a lot of people feel the same way here.
